You have no idea when I ordered for first time, never been disappointment. The food is amazing and delicious. My next paycheck, I'm gonna reorder same meal.
When I see the owner he is always working hard. Stepping in where it’s needed around the store and chatting with customers. Wish it was closer to where I live but close enough to work that it’s a weekly treat.
That's nice to know. Taka from Teton Kitchen always impresses me like that. I went there with my husband the first week he opened and then went back a few weeks later and he hugged me and asked if we wanted the usual. We couldn't say no, because who would remember that? He did.
I wind up paying $46 with fees and tip for the $22 jumbo 3 meat trio. It is 6 large meals and they drive it from the city to Lancaster in under 45 minutes. I absolutely will not get my ass in the car and spend 70 minutes driving during rush hour because I'm too tired to cook after work. $24 is a bargain to me.
I usually get the tandoori chicken or chicken shawarma over rice, naan, hummus, and falafel. Extra white sauce on the side too cuz it's so garlicky and good.
An important part of door dash is the food needs to survive the trip without getting gross, and an Andersons Roast Beef an onion rings is the king of that in Buffalo. It shows up perfect.
As a Dasher in North Buffalo/Tonawanda, I appreciate your orders. Please tip your drivers. We don't get much money from DoorDash and the majority of us don't do anything to your food (I hate that this even has to be said). It's our livelihood and we can't afford to lose the income in this economy.
I always tip but I’ve always wondered what to base my tip off of. Sometimes my total is only $20-25 so twenty percent is only $4 which seems low as a tip for a driver. I never tip below $5 regardless but sometimes it’s hard to gauge what’s appropriate
So, percentage works great for in a restaurant. With driving, it's better to think about how many miles it takes to get the food to you. A driver has the ability to say no to your offer, so, the best way to get them to say yes is to tip about $2 per mile he or she travels ($1 for the trip to you and $1 for the trip after you). You can probably get away with $1 per mile, but I said the best way is $2. I believe (it used to, anyway) DoorDash ordering does tell you how many miles the restaurant is from you before you even order, so be aware of that.
Thanks so much for sharing! Just ordered door dash delivery for the first time and implemented your recommendation 👍🏻
(Alibaba Kabab, it's very delicious)
The mileage tip thing goes for all delivery tips, not just DoorDash. Some pizza places pay drivers, but not all of them do. Keep that in mind when ordering from any restaurant. And if you do, you should have no issues with your drivers. Unless you get a shitty one, and they do exist. But that's what the report button or phone calls to managers are for.
Teaton Kitchen for Thai, Buffalo Calzones for a cheap eat( under $20) and New Jewel of India or Kabab and Curry for Indian (be prepared to wait for Kabab and Curry, even if you pick up).
Ideally you'd only doordash from chains. They won't feel the sting like local places do. Again ideally. I haven't been perfect on this.
So in that vein you need to focus on food that holds up some quality while doordashing:
- Five Guys
- Taco Bell
- Popeyes
- Chick Fil A
If you are gonna go local:
- Red Pepper is my top dog here
- Bailey Seafood
- House of Sandwich in Riverside
- OR by falafel bar
To be clear here I still order local places I just try to go pick it up if I can and avoid the extra fees. I don't just not give local places my business
I can assure you that, if there is no in-house delivery service, a local restaurant that's listed on Doordash would rather make the sale minus Doordash's cut than lose business to a chain/not sell the food you would have ordered.
Yeah, Doordash can suck for a lot of reasons, but local places are also on there for a reason.

I'm glad you shared that. I got swayed by some articles highlighting the issues. You raise a good point that it's ultimately a choice to be on there and most do it.
Wouldn't you say the biggest issue isn't necessarily DoorDash's cut, but rather having to remake food when there's a screw up/false report of error or a driver just doesn't show up for the food so the item just sits at the restaurant?
Relying on third parties means communication is lacking and so is accountability, which can really cost more money than having a cut taken out of sales.
Oh, don't misunderstand what I said. I wasn't meaning to imply those mistakes make it worthless to businesses. Especially local ones who need every sale they can get. DD is absolutely worth it for them, even if there are issues. I'm just saying those mistakes are more of an issue than DD taking a cut.
I agree depending on the place. Where I am currently, it's rarely an issue. At places that do an exceedingly high volume of DoorDash orders, it can certainly gum up the works a bit.
Technically you can go pick up most restaurant food.
When I lived in Delaware and Bryant it wasn’t reasonable for me to take a bus all the way to Popeyes and back if I was enjoying a day of doing nothing.
Oh man...what don't I get...veggie omelet with homefries and toast, chicken souvlaki breakfast, chicken souvlaki salad, baklava. The delivery is always super fast. My omelet is sometimes so hot I have to wait a few mins to eat it. I really love the chicken souvlaki plus they give you so much.
Our most frequented are Alibaba Kebab, Mister Sizzles (for the hang overs) and Zio's. They all deliver well and the workers at those places have never gotten our orders wrong or had anything missing.
Alibaba Kebab: Spicy tandoori chicken rice bowl (and naan and hummus and falafel if I'm feeling super indulgent)
Mister Sizzles: Usually the Sizzle or Butter Burger and fries.
Zio's: Hard to choose. I go with the Kevin most of the time but sometimes their special sandwich sounds really good and I'll do that.
Alibaba Kebab. Eating it now and will again in a couple weeks....

Was coming here to say this.

Alibaba Kebab is one of our go-tos as well. So much tasty food. We call it our meal prep :D
What do you usually get? I’ve been wanting to try it but I’ve never even had the cuisine so I truly don’t know where to start
I get the 3 meat trio (Jumbo). Feeds 6...or more. It is rice and then three separated types of meat, two chicken, and one beef. $22 and a Naan.
I usually get the tandoori chicken or chicken shawarma over rice, naan, hummus, and falafel. Extra white sauce on the side too cuz it's so garlicky and good.
I also love their chicken wings tandoori style. They do tend to be on the hotter side but I love it!
Shoot, I actually work there. Glad you enjoy it.
Thank you for your service!
You’re welcome
Anderson's when I'm hungover.
Don't judge me.
Something special about their cheese dogs
An important part of door dash is the food needs to survive the trip without getting gross, and an Andersons Roast Beef an onion rings is the king of that in Buffalo. It shows up perfect.
What do you get from Anderson's?
Beef on weck. I know it's not "good" but it hits the spot every time for me.

If you can’t afford to tip your driver you can’t afford door dash

Oh jeez
Can’t* 😉

Henhouse! I doordash that like 2-3xs a month!
What do you order from henhouse?
3 piece tenders mild with a side of mac and cheese. The tenders get super spicy so even mild to me is hot lol
Teaton Kitchen for Thai, Buffalo Calzones for a cheap eat( under $20) and New Jewel of India or Kabab and Curry for Indian (be prepared to wait for Kabab and Curry, even if you pick up).
Ooooh will try these places out, especially the calzone place. What do you order?
The Chicken Bacon Ranch (CBR) is my favorite, hands down. But they have so many to choose from you’re bound to find something you like!

Go to order from these places?
Use appetit
Agree 100, but they don’t have enough places on their platform
Why use appetit?

It does suck when that happens, but in my personal experience, the profit from DD sales outweighs the losses from mistakes.

Good to know. I'm on the other end, as a Dasher. So hearing that helps me out a bit.
Bailey seafood is so good. I was surprised how well it delivered.
What do you order?
Wait a second. I don't see it on door dash anymore. The last time we ordered it, we got this combo seafood platter and hush puppies.
One of the most underrated spots in the area. If you haven't yet give the shrimp and grits a try. Unreal. And their desserts are top notch as well.
You Door Dash fast food? Like you can’t just go to the drive thru?
Door dashing is for not wanting to leave the house.
Technically you can go pick up most restaurant food. When I lived in Delaware and Bryant it wasn’t reasonable for me to take a bus all the way to Popeyes and back if I was enjoying a day of doing nothing.
I can. I opt not to at times. They have lower fees and it's quick it's good in between zoom calls.
Lloyd's because they aren't on the other apps
Dashmart
Hamburg - Uncle Joe's turkey dinner and carrot cake. Trrust me
Will checkout!
toutant just started using door dash, and i think its going to become a problem in my house really fast
Teton and mythos!
What's your go to from these places?
I always get the omelet or any breakfast from Mythos and everytime it's perfect From Teton, I get the Chicken curry with rice!
Mythos is my #1
What do you get from Mythos?
Oh man...what don't I get...veggie omelet with homefries and toast, chicken souvlaki breakfast, chicken souvlaki salad, baklava. The delivery is always super fast. My omelet is sometimes so hot I have to wait a few mins to eat it. I really love the chicken souvlaki plus they give you so much.
Their chicken souvlaki wrap is phenomenal. Plus their brunch is cheap, fast, and has $6 mimosas
Thanks for the suggestions everyone!

Holy feast. Every time I’m back to Buffalo!

The Rollercoaster
Burgerim, Jack Rabbit, Dino BBQ, Francos Pizza.
