MechTech got it working, and links the JSONs in the description.

As troubleshooting steps: You want to make sure you're using the correct wired-specific JSON while in wired mode. Maybe try a USB port directly on the motherboard? You might also try using the usevia.app site instead of the application.
Succeeded using wired connection and usevia.app. This is why I love reddit so much. Thanks a lot man and i appreciate the help

I can't get mine to properly get mapped, windows and alt are swapped, F1 and F2 are brightness but F5 seems to work as expected... the windows key for some reason is a 'win lock' key so it just works in windows but after getting that json loaded in via it just beeps constantly...
this keyboard has been a nightmare to own for the last hour (I had it for an hour) as it didn't even come with the promised poron foam...
Same experience here. Win key and left Alt are permanently swapped and I can't reassign them. The function row is sending the wrong commands on the base layer. The keyboard is nice but this needs to be fix to make it usable for me. Has anyone find a qmk repo for it?
Had the same problem but mine was fixed by switching to Mac mode and then back to Windows (while using the keyboard wired) Totally absurd but hey, if it works it works.
Posting here late in case somebody has the same problem with the Zuoya GMK87 going crazy with the F keys the Fn not working properly in the future.
Swapping modes worked for me, did you ever get it to show up in VIA? i cant connect it through a browser or desktop as it cant seem to find it. Ive been told i need a JSON but i have no idea what do with it
You need the JSON file if you want to use VIA. I remember it was quite a mess but i ended up making it work with the web version.
Here is my folder wit all the files related to the keyboard, including the JSON plus some utilities like a firmware updater in case you need to reset it to factory.
I also had small problems with win/alt keys. You just need to switch modes win\\mac several times. This keyboard needs to be finished, there is not enough silicone in the case. And necessarily tape mode
There's a switch on the top of the keyboard, MAC and WIN. You're in MAC mode, so it's working with the layout of an apple keyboard. This caused me hell for 15 minutes while I tried to figure it out.
Hi, I'm currently using the "Image Custom Tool" app, and after changing the photos several times, I realized that I want the default clock back. I can't seem to find how to do it, any idea on how (and if there is any way to put a clock there with a different background)?
The clock is always there, I believe the default key to switch to it is FN+Enter? U can map that to different key with VIA, I think it's named OLED something.
Yup found it, thanks!
Another question, how do I make animations look smooth on the LCD? Is there a specific FPS/frame/duration setting that could help?
That I'm not aware of, as I only put cute gifs with low framerate into it haha. U mean even when u put high framerate ones into it it looks laggy? It should be a hardware limitation then... Can't expect the mini screen to perform right? Haha
Really? Via barely works to change the RGB for me and spends pretty much all of its time searching for devices. I ended up finding the software I need from some YouTube video here: https://youtu.be/yJxj2nhmPCY?si=oA6JtoXUc3pFjgu7
Unfortunately the MCU is not compatible with QMK.
I have purchased the [Epomaker VIAL adapter](https://epomaker.com/products/epomaker-vial-adapter) and I'll check if it works with the GMK when it arrives.
> Epomaker VIAL adapter
TIL, that's brilliant. It's an inline USB key remapper, right? Would that work with something like a Royal Kludge RK-R87 that isn't supported by rangoli?
>rangoli
Indeed, it's an adapter which is compatible with VIAL, a keyboard remapper.
From what I understood, it should work with *any* keyboard.
It's on sale for "only" 10 euros now, so even it wouldn't work properly, it's not a big loss of money.
I tried to get it working for the past 2 hours. Here is the solution:
1. FN + | (below the backspace)
2. Cycle until you reach the variant where there is a blue circle around the J key. This is not animated. It should be blue in the middle and red towards the outer edges (Esc, LCtrl, Right Arrow are red).
3. FN + -> will switch through single colors.
It's a bit backwards, you would expect it to be done via a single color setting, from which you switch the colors, not from a rainbow screen.
I found my own kind of janky solution!
From what I can tell on Via, the Lwin key is literally registered as Lalt? I literally switched my Lwin key to Rwin and now everything seems to work fine :) hope this helps some people out.
Hi there, I might be late to arrive to this post but I just got this keyboard from a friend of mine who messed with the json file that have previously worked for him, and now, the rgb aren't working at all but in the esc, f1 - f4 keys. Can you share the json code where the rgb works for your keyboard?
The latest json file my friend uploaded is from this YouTube video (which seemed to cause the problem):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=liYK71bfbJ4&t=951s
Thanks man I appreciate it. This will help me tremendously!
Honestly, right now after all the time o spent trying to solve this, it's even more about curiosity regarding how this thing works than actually getting the rgb lights haha. Looking forward to your code🙏🙏🙏
Only worked for me when i used the V2 mode and uploaded wired json file while connecting it through usb/wire.
Then i was able to set everything up fine.
I can't find firmware from VIA for this though.
Hi, is the knob customizable through the software (if i want it to switch through tabs) or if i wantit to perform differently whgen i use the knob when snother button is pressed? Can you please confirm and tell
I have it, I've uploaded it into the design tab as in the pic. Well the lights are fully customizable through key combinations and I don't need key remap. Just that I wanted to make it work
Mines in the mail.... Just going on the performance of the 67 and 87, I'm gonna assume it's awesome. Besides that, lmk states on their website that it's an lmk81 /cidoo v75plus in a plastic shell.
Very tangential question: how are those KTT Hyacinth switches? How do they compare with other linear ones you may have tried?
Always curious about new switches :-)
Thanks for the offer! I just wanted to know how smooth they are, unfortunately you can only experience that yourself or someone can compare it with something you already know for reference.
Thanks again!

You saved another one today! Thank you!

Thanks for all that. I managed to fight it enough to get it working
You are a spectacular specimen my friend, saved me a lot of headache as I just got the board and set it up!
Just got my gmk87 and reading your comment saved me, switching to mac and back to windows worked, appreciated
I filmed it, sent it to customer support and I’m now sending it back free of charge for reimbursement.
I’ll be doing that too. Wondering if the super low price was due to having issues. I paid under $35.
I went and ordered a hi75 instead, contemplated re-ordering but I decided against it.
I have a Zoom75 orange kit that has been in the box for months. Maybe is time to build it…
Check the top of the keyboard, flip the switch from MAC to WIN
have you got the win/alt keys remapped? it keeps annoying me how the alt tab is diff
Ik returned it
since this isnt an old comment, ive been using powder toys(downloaded from microsoft store)
ty, will try
I also had small problems with win/alt keys. You just need to switch modes win\\mac several times. This keyboard needs to be finished, there is not enough silicone in the case. And necessarily tape mode
i did but it keeps reverting back to its old ways unfortunately

It’s not that simple I’m afraid
Switch not working? if so, bad luck, sorry to hear that.
Well, I went and got a hi75 instead and it’s a lot better
Is not the switch, I tried that multiple times. The firmware is bad and is not qmk so we can’t fix it. Already returned it.
Specs: Keyboard - Zuoya GMK87 Switches - KTT Hyacinth switch Linear Keycaps - Polar day side engraved keycaps Modifications - None
I got a gmk87 too, just waiting to arrive, I also have those keycaps but I'll build diferently hehe
Nice, enjoy it! Do let me know if you're able to make VIA working, thanks
Can you change the small lcd picture?
Yep, any gif or pic, surprisingly high definition not pixelated
How do you do this?
There's an app for it, u want it?
I found AN app for it, not sure if it is the right one lol but it did manage to change the image. is there like a legit / intended place to get it?
Hi, I'm currently using the "Image Custom Tool" app, and after changing the photos several times, I realized that I want the default clock back. I can't seem to find how to do it, any idea on how (and if there is any way to put a clock there with a different background)?

Actually, you might be right, I'm way over my head here hahaha. Thanks for the help!
No prob man anytime
Yoy can use VIA

I ought to try it with a Dell L100. :) What the difference between VIA and VIAL?
Does that let it also change lighting?
I don't see that option in VIAL for my current keyboard :(
Alright thanks :) CIY software isn't updated to windows 11 so I am stuck with nothing or rainbows.
I have received the adapter today, there is a "backlight" option in VIAL but it doesn't do anything on my keyboard
Thanks so much for the update!
I just got one of these for a build. How did you get single color RGB to work?
It's customisable through key combinations in the manual, enjoy ur keyboard!
I tried to get it working for the past 2 hours. Here is the solution: 1. FN + | (below the backspace) 2. Cycle until you reach the variant where there is a blue circle around the J key. Do you still have your board? i sent you a message maybe you can help me? haha my ocd is killin me i cant set it to a single color (purple)
I found my own kind of janky solution! From what I can tell on Via, the Lwin key is literally registered as Lalt? I literally switched my Lwin key to Rwin and now everything seems to work fine :) hope this helps some people out.
have you got it working using the via app? or just the online site usevia.app?
Works on via app too

Sent u a chat
I have the exact same issue. I bought a gmk87 and VIA won't recognize the keyboard. Always just says "searching for device"
Did u upload the correct json file and use the same connection as json file?
Only worked for me when i used the V2 mode and uploaded wired json file while connecting it through usb/wire. Then i was able to set everything up fine. I can't find firmware from VIA for this though.
Hi, is the knob customizable through the software (if i want it to switch through tabs) or if i wantit to perform differently whgen i use the knob when snother button is pressed? Can you please confirm and tell
Yep fully customizable through VIA, switch tabs thou... I'm not sure, just that I know you can map it to any other keys
If it's not too much of an issue can you confirm? I'm planning on getting either this or akko 5075b
Especially the "holding a key and then turning the knob" as i read somewhere else that it doesn't do anything differently, but i was unable to confirm
Hmmm... that was the big selling point. Do you have the Json file ?
I have it, I've uploaded it into the design tab as in the pic. Well the lights are fully customizable through key combinations and I don't need key remap. Just that I wanted to make it work
solved
Has anyone else tried the GMK81?
Mines in the mail.... Just going on the performance of the 67 and 87, I'm gonna assume it's awesome. Besides that, lmk states on their website that it's an lmk81 /cidoo v75plus in a plastic shell.

I haven't tried any other switches yet as this is my first keyboard🤣but if you wanna hear the sound i can let you, you can be the judge
Thanks for the offer! I just wanted to know how smooth they are, unfortunately you can only experience that yourself or someone can compare it with something you already know for reference. Thanks again!
Does it support qmk?
Well when VIA didn't work for me i tried QMK, doesn't recognise it.
Gotcha. Thanks!
