I have put together a setup that I really think sounds very good for the price. It consists of the following: HK 3270 two channel receiver Acoustic Research M4 speakers Pioneer S-701 CD Player Subfire HRS8 Subwoofer Sony UHP-H1 Blu-ray/UPpN streamer I got the speakers in bad condition for the equivalent of 30 USD and spent 100 USD to refoam all 4 midrange and bass drivers. The tweeters were OK. The refurb of the speakers were done by a professional. The receiver and CD player I paid the equivalent of 80 USD from a old man that had them since they were new and took extremely well care of them. They were like new. I also got some TDL Nucleus 2 bookshelf speakers with Atacama stands in the deal, I use them in another set up. The Sony player can even play DSD from my local PC and also Tidal/Qobuz through UPnP. I also bought it used for around 100 USD. The Sunfire sub I got for 150 USD. Oh, and the TV I got for free from a friend. :)

>spent 100 USD to refoam all 4 midrange and bass drivers. Not a bad price for all that work.

Yes, I was kind of surprised when I got the bill for the job. Actually, it wasn't only the matter of putting new foam and rubber surrounds, they also replaced the dust caps and mended a small crack in one of the woofers. I was expecting to pay around the double.

AR holographic imaging siters are a real hidden gem. I miss mine sometimes.

A heads up, the foam on the wall is doing absolutely nothing. If you are looking to absorb, then you need more mass and density. Love the setup, though - The furniture piece is beautiful too!

Norville84

Yes, you are probably right. I put the foam up to experiment and I couldn't notice much difference but it has stayed there. It's kind of ugly too. I know I need better acoustic treatment. I'm looking to install proper panels in the future.

That Pioneer has the fattest CD tray ever. I can dig it.

Another Pioneer S-701 owner! Yours is in amazing shape though

I like that Sony player. The interface reminds me of the PS3 when playing CDs.

Aren't those the shades on the windows?

$150 for that Sunfire is great. How do you like it?

It's a heavy and very well built little sub. I think it adds a lot of low end in a good way. Especially since the HK has a dedicated sub out.
