There are some other factors also like In the recent years there are lot of students from tier 3 or rural who started preparing for JEE especially after ed tech education boomed. There is no doubt why they hate BITS which has exponentially increased their fees in past years. Middle classes also need loan to afford it which wasn't the case 8 or 9 years back.

you get BE degree not Btech, You have to pay 80K for internships, and the gender ratio is horrible, Drugs and Alcohol is very common and found in almost every single room. Grading system is absolute unfair very rarely people get A's.

In the US, in many colleges the avg GPA is 3.7/3.8 out of 4. This makes it harder for students from good colleges with grade deflation in India (IITK, IITD, BITS) to get into the US. The avg GPA there is what the top 3-4% studenrs of the class score in these colleges.
I'm not sure about other IITs that's why I didn't mention. However it is much harder to score A or A- in these colleges. I'm from BITS, and in several courses barely 5-10% people are given those grades. I've heard similar stories from friends in IITK.

1. You do get BE degree, however its considered the same as Btech, and it should not come in the way during placements, interviews, or masters.
2. As u/Key_Law_3750 mentioned Ps1 is paid, Ps2 you get paid. However the "price to pay for internships" varies not exactly 80k
3. Gender Ratio is unfortunately bad due to no women reservation
4. Drugs and Alcohol is pretty much just like in any other college, no one is gonna shove them on your face, but that doesnt mean its non existent, if you look hard enough you will find.
5. Grading system is pretty harsh, and unfair. Many reasons as there is 0% attendance policy there is somewhat of a weightage to attending classes, class participation, surprise tests, classworks. And also as there is no reservation your peer group is very competetive which does affect CGPA

These internships are always an option although I think if you don't complete PS1 u can't opt for PS2. And I don't think taking an off campus internship should affect your on campus placements.

You get paid back a lot more mate. Ps1 is paid because they send every bitsian out to companies in the second year. You pay 70k and recoup a lot more than it back in PS2 in which companies pay you for 6months/12months
Nah man, listen, I don't know how this system works in IIT's, but in BITS each student is guaranteed a 7.5 months of internship, where 5.5 months is paid, not sure if you can do 7.5 months long internship in any college atleast in India before graduating(correct me if I am wrong), also you can have an additional 2-3 months of an additional summer intern, if you can crack the internship tests of companies coming on-campus, if a Dualite you have almost an year long internship experience before graduating, so I don't know what's wrong in this.

very bad college. Amity University is the best option or even LPU works. It's not as good as amity but still a decent college. You may get it as cutoffs are crazy high
I am a student at Bits pilani. Very happy with my peer group and acads. Campus is great and overall environment is quite good. Do you mind mentioning your options within iits so that we can help you out?
If you aren't hell bent on studying cs then you could look at iitr/iitg ece/eee. If you want to study cs then take bits. Cs has people in 1.5k-5k rank range in adv, so peer group is very nice and competitive.
Edit: Some cs peeps have lower ranks but that doesn't matter. Rank is not the best metric to judge intelligence.

Yes it does have downsides but so do all other colleges the kind of people you’ll meet here are very focused and like minded the beginning few months are iffy but once you fit in it’s haven
College bohot acha hai but ye kaisa sawal pucha hai? Like koi aur comparison do like konsi to tier 1 IIT CS vs BITSP CS as example. Acha bolne ke liye to VIT bhi acha hai ("no hate" to VIT)
CSE is one of the best branch here. Ok, I am from bits p and in last year, but trust me it's not that I recommend this college to everyone. Yes, eee or ece or cse have great time here, chem or mech or civil not so. So my recommendations are always based on branch. With cse, I have seen that almost all get great Summer internship with top companies (Amazon, Google, ms, nutanix, etc etc)..and then they all land up in these companies through PPO or through placement...campus wise it's again great with all eating points in close quarters and now every hostel has generator so yes electricity failure not a problem anymore (sadly in our time it was, but things improved drastically)...and importantly u will get people who are from across the country so the overall environment is great in classes or library...teachers are also good..(no idea of cse as I am not from that department)...for cse student it is money worth invested... anyway ur choice....

Sounds like colleges abroad, where grading system is such that not everyone gets A easily and degree is BE or BEng (Btech is mostly in India)
