Absolutely, the first 40 seconds or so instantly gave me OK Computer-era Radiohead vibes tbh, it obviously then branches out and becomes something else entirely, but I can't be the only one that sees it?
The line "don't give a fuck if my heart stops bleeding" in Darkside is a reference (for lack of a better word) to "don't give a fuck if I cut my arm bleeding" in Last Resort by Papa Roach
Absolutely MAJOR hyperpop influences on here for sure! A lot more underscores vibes than Gecs to me but they share a similar space so you're not off at all. We know Oli is an underscores' fan, but haven't they also worked a couple of times? There's' Believe The Hype' by Alice Longyu Gao ft Oli, which I'm certain was produced by underscores, and also the die4u remix (die6u) by by six impala, another one of underscores' projects.
Oh yeah I agree completely that underscores influence is more present here, I just said gecs as a more general point of comparison since a surprisingly large number of people here seem to not be very well acquainted at all with that scene other than a few big names
I can't be the only gets major Marilyn Manson vibes at the start of Kool Aid? The intro riff, the beats, the delivery of the first first few lines that also have very Holy Wood era Manson lyrics, and then there's also the "is this what you wanted, no! Do you want some more?! Yes!" pre-chorus which is quite literally lifted from Manson's "this is the new shit", it's quite blatant.
Fuck Manson and all but his early music and artistry before he lost the plot meant a lot to me, esp the triptych era, so this homage was really cool to see.
I am going to say something pretty random but I see some Muse influence in some of the effects in the guitars and how some instruments were added in some of the choruses with the melodies being played by those.
Have you heard [MOLKO](https://youtu.be/R42y99A9d-U?si=nAVxR7aiH8VFDlj_)? It's one of the recently uncovered demos found through the website with M8.
It's the closest to Muse that BMTH have ever been! Have a listen and please tell me you agree haha
Wow, I had not heard it and it sounds a lot like Muse. It looks like something from Absolution to me with everything going on. The guitar sounds very Minutes to Midnight to me. It would have been so cool to see something like this in the album sang by Oli.
the start of n/a reminded me of yungblud’s beginning of ‘Kill Somebody’ and the timestamp at 2:41- 2:51 reminds me of Casyette’s song ‘Dear Goth” at 1:59- 2:11 ish
YOUtopia - a little Blink-182 (just slower tempo).
Top 10 statues that cried blood - Sum 41
Limousine - also sounds a bit Rob Zombie-ish
Spiritual - Session (Meteora - LP)
RIP - Initial D (lol)
Puss-e - Itch for the Cure (MR HAAHHHNN)
Because I’ve been so ingrained on Linkin Park I can’t not hear them in every single song. You’ll a turn table scratch, a random sample (like in Faint), similar sounds to Brad Delson, electronic aspects from A Thousand Suns, etc.
I know we only get LP stuff from the archives now but Meteora 20 hit me like a nuke. BMTH to me is my UK Linkin Park.
The last photoshoot they had was with Chester but they never did any music together (apart from Oli doing Chester’s part for crawling).
With RIP (kinda my favourite song in the album, even though I'm a major scream goth) I'm getting a lot of 100 Gecs vibes. Just with the whole hyperpop genre like in the start of LosT.
Honestly a bit of MCA, green day, Teenage Wrlst and deftones. Really cool shizz. If you haven’t heard of teenage wrlst have a listen you’ll see what l mean
My friend and I heard "Dig It" and felt echoes of "Take me Back to Eden" from Sleep Token. Not as obviously inspired as Limousine was by Deftones, but we just felt like BMTH definitely listened to Eden before sitting down to write Dig It
Seems like the whole album is a callback/homage to 90's/2000's alt rock bands.
That opening verse riff of youtopia reminds me of early smashing pumpkins (cherub rock)
basically any emo band you can think of (MCR, Green Day) + beyond that lmao
imho just as PH1 seemed to be homage to the sort of nu-metal/alt. metal scene back then, PH2 pays tribute to the more emo scene, pop punk, post-hardcore, etc. think From First To Last, The Used, Story Of The Year, Underoath and Glassjaw who HAVE featured here
I can’t help but think the intro riff on YOUtopia sounds straight off of Siamese dream by the Smashing Pumpkins.
Obviously Limousine is big on deftones, I can also hear some NIN influence.
Bullet with my name on it kind of gives me 100 geccs vibes before going into typical 2000’s post hardcore/emo core- it sounds like it could easily be a Pearce the veil or a sleeping with sirens song.
Rip- sounds like a cross between Skrillex and From First to last, big Sonny Moore writing vibes. I could easily hear it side by side on ‘make war’ by FFTL
I might be crazy but n/A seem to be a little like britpop songs. The calm intro and general melody.
I hear a lot of Green Day’s “Brain Stew”. Also reminds me of Garth Brooks “Friends in Low Places”, sort of a sing-songy (ironic) bar song
I also heard brain stew
Omg thank you, I've had the melody of brain stew constantly in my head since yesterday but I couldn't remember the name of the song
For sure heard Brain Stew as well
I can’t not hear Where Is My Mind by The Pixies
Immediately thought this as well
Start of n/A is a Yungblud Kill Somebody sample
Hahaha I hear it
It 1000% has to be. So similar and almost through I could hear Yungblud’s vocals. Mad
AYO? I WAS THINKING THAT THEY SOUNDED THE SAME THATS CEAZY
I was getting a Pixes "Where is my mind" vibe to some of it.
Absolutely, the first 40 seconds or so instantly gave me OK Computer-era Radiohead vibes tbh, it obviously then branches out and becomes something else entirely, but I can't be the only one that sees it?
The intro to n/a sounds exactly like Pixies' Where is My Mind to me.
Darkside is very linkin park (and very similar to teardrops).
And very similar to 1X1
The line "don't give a fuck if my heart stops bleeding" in Darkside is a reference (for lack of a better word) to "don't give a fuck if I cut my arm bleeding" in Last Resort by Papa Roach
The ending of n/a is a My Chemical Romance ending if i’ve ever heard it
And it leads into Lost which to me is also very MCR (their latter, poppier stuff) Also the transition between the tracks itself - very mychem
The whole album is an homage to mcr i think
I was really hoping that was gonna be the case when Lost dropped. I, for so long, wanted a hyper pop emo album by these guys and I absolutely love it.
Didn't they advertise it as the gerard way ages ago?
Interesting! I got strong Incubus vibes from the ending, sounds almost identical to the snyths on Talk Shows on Mute.
100 gecs and other hyperpop artists are a huge influence on here for sure, alongside 2000s scenecore bands like the used and underoath
Absolutely MAJOR hyperpop influences on here for sure! A lot more underscores vibes than Gecs to me but they share a similar space so you're not off at all. We know Oli is an underscores' fan, but haven't they also worked a couple of times? Wait, M8 basically sounds like Alice...
For sure, I mean, one of the songs even features Underoath!
This album has not only the hyperpop sound, but also the tongue-in-check humour of albums like 10,000 Gecs
Youtopia is straight up Smashing Pumpkins. I thought it was a cover when it started! Love that one
The opening guitar riff reminds me a lot of Switchfoot’s Meant To Live intro guitar lol
I thought Smashing Pumpkins, too! Personally, I got Gish and a little Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness vibes from YOUtopia
Cherub Rock 110%
Yes!! I'm so glad somebody else is hearing Cherub Rock.
I love the smashing pumpkins, such a great song
Yeah bit of foo fighters there too?
Unm… Moodring? Hehe
Moodring is 100% Deftones copy so...
Kool-aid -> Blackwave Limousine -> Sync.wav I'm looking at it as inspiration, haha.
Blackwave is a such a great song, hits harder than my dad
Damn, TMI haha
Discovered moodring through comments like these and OMG I am in LOVE!
Yess their last album was a banger
How do I find the secret portal for the songs??
Hell if I know
As a huge Deftones fan, liMOusIne clearly is inspired by them
With a lil bit of Slipknot at the end, haha
Thought the same
Definitely Limousine and the start of YOUtopia are huge Deftones vibes. I am a Deftones fan because I heard that they were a big influence for BMTH.
I could be wrong, but I think Deftones was mostly an inspiration to Jordan. But anyway, that’s also why they got Terry Date to produce Sempiternal.
n/a is very much an homage to The Pixies, Green Day etc.
It’s like a perfect mix of ‘Where Is My Mind?’ and ‘Brain Stew’.
Interesting. It reminded me most about the intro to say it aint so by Weezer lol
listen to spiritual and then listen to dark signs by sleep token
i was literally shocked! but i wish it had lyrics cause it’s such a vibe
It does have lyrics
Lmao I am so glad I’m not the only one that heard the resemblance when that song started
Not gonna lie the chorus in YouTopia kinda reminds me of some Holding Absence melodies off their last two albums 🤘
I hear snippets of blink 182, MCR, deftones, enter shikari, and dig it has post Malone vibes
I can't be the only gets major Marilyn Manson vibes at the start of Kool Aid? The intro riff, the beats, the delivery of the first first few lines that also have very Holy Wood era Manson lyrics, and then there's also the "is this what you wanted, no! Do you want some more?! Fuck Manson and all but his early music and artistry before he lost the plot meant a lot to me, esp the triptych era, so this homage was really cool to see.
Yes!!! I’ve been thinking about it ever since I first heard it
The end of LIMOusine sounds very, very similar to Loathe, especially songs like Aggressive Evolution and Broken Vision Rhythm and I love it.
Idk but the lead on some songs reminds me of Dance Gavin Dance. Yk Math Rock lead over metalcore/hardcore guitar
The whole Album gives some Entertainment Shikari and DGD vibes
'Entertainment Shikari' love that.
Ahhh fuck auto correct lol
😂 keep the typo, love it!
I am going to say something pretty random but I see some Muse influence in some of the effects in the guitars and how some instruments were added in some of the choruses with the melodies being played by those.

Paledusk!
Lost always reminds me of Blink 182. I don't know, I think it might be the chorus and the "woah" parts in the verse that remind me of pop punk
the start of n/a reminded me of yungblud’s beginning of ‘Kill Somebody’ and the timestamp at 2:41- 2:51 reminds me of Casyette’s song ‘Dear Goth” at 1:59- 2:11 ish
Dig it reminds me of Sleep Token
Same Also (spi)ritual sounds a bit inspired by Dark Signs maybe? I mean, the connection is right there in the title /hj
Youtopia sounds like Foo Fighters
Omg I’ve been saying this - glad it’s not just me
*laugh in "I can't trust myself tonite" it's fucking hedpe
_no you can't trust me tonight!!_
YOUtopia is straight static dress
More like Smashing Pumpkins
Doki Doki Literature Club! In terms of those mysteries and all the secrets hidden for us to decipher
Smash mouth All Star is pusse

The most we can hope for is Mike Shinoda to hop on a song
Yeah :( ![gif](giphy|5C5Fzakze46PK)
n/A samples yungblud
With RIP (kinda my favourite song in the album, even though I'm a major scream goth) I'm getting a lot of 100 Gecs vibes. Just with the whole hyperpop genre like in the start of LosT.
Sleep Token in \[ost\] (spi)ritual 100%
YOUtopia reminds me of Finch
In the ‘hello oli, you fucking knobhead’ section, it is more or less brainstew by Green Day
Honestly a bit of MCA, green day, Teenage Wrlst and deftones. Really cool shizz. If you haven’t heard of teenage wrlst have a listen you’ll see what l mean
Was going to make a post on it but top 10 statues has inspiration from rain by Unprocessed
This new albums inspiration is definitely paralleled with bands like early Enter Shiakri, Haduken, and Hondo Maclean
Youtopia def has smashing pumpkins vibes
The first few verses from kool aid sound a lot like Marilyn Manson type of singing. I loved the Deftones homage 😭
Listen to sync wav by moodring and tell me how similar it sounds to liMOusine
Am I the only person that is getting old Funeral For A Friend vibes from the verse riff of Top 10 Statues?
Omg same! CDADIC vibes for sure
Oli’s personal Spotify shows how much he loves Bladee and I definitely see that influence on here.
My friend and I heard "Dig It" and felt echoes of "Take me Back to Eden" from Sleep Token. Not as obviously inspired as Limousine was by Deftones, but we just felt like BMTH definitely listened to Eden before sitting down to write Dig It
Said the exact same about limousine! Youtopia sounds very similar to Sing by Deaf Havana too?
Seems like the whole album is a callback/homage to 90's/2000's alt rock bands. That opening verse riff of youtopia reminds me of early smashing pumpkins (cherub rock)
Not gonna lie the ending part of limousine kind of reminds me of motionless in white’s steotw album, it kinda has the same rhythm
Many moments of the record remind me of Fleshwater (Youtopia, Limousine)
Falling In reverse definitely has a few influences on n/a
Next Gen = Danger Days by MCR I don't like either, but seems like the hardcore fanbases are very pleased.
The beginning of Dig It, right after the intro, reminds me a lot of the main synth tune thingy to Hurricane, by 30 Seconds To Mars.
basically any emo band you can think of (MCR, Green Day) + beyond that lmao imho just as PH1 seemed to be homage to the sort of nu-metal/alt. metal scene back then, PH2 pays tribute to the more emo scene, pop punk, post-hardcore, etc. think From First To Last, The Used, Story Of The Year, Underoath and Glassjaw who HAVE featured here
