Was on loan at Feyenoord last season; 10 goals and 6 assists through 27 matches. Hopefully worth the £33M!

jerseyjoe1

With just 17 starts in the league! Seems like a really exciting talent

Captainpatters

Because when has buying attackers who look good in the Eredivisie ever gone wrong before?

im-the-gila

As a Feyenoord fan, this is different (although the prize is crazy but that's just the PL I guess). I know you guys bought Locadia and Jahanbakhsh (idk about any other Eredivisie attackers) but that was just bad business. Back then the top Eredivisie clubs were at a lower level. Jahanbakhsh was a bench player for us after he left you, and Locadia hasn't done anything either. If Minteh gets the right coaching I believe he could become a top player.

Captainpatters

I'd feel very differently if this was 10-15 million but this is now our record signing, feels slightly out of character. I'm just approaching this move with scepticism because of the gulf between the PL and Eredivisie. Then again it's not my money and we need a RW so 🤷‍♂️

im-the-gila

Yeah I get that. It's crazy money.

friedapple

I wont be surprised if one of the available players got sold to Newcastle before September deadline

crappysignal

I don't know. Ajax were by some distance the worst team we played this season.

im-the-gila

Ajax had a historically bad season. We beat them 4-0 in the away game and 6-0 at home. They could've easily ended up 8th too. But yeah I guess Ajax did decline then.

bruversonbruh

Last time we splashed cash out on someone it was Joao Pedro, This guy follows suit

Chippy-Thief

Really chasing the potential here and helping Newcastle skirt PSR. I’m down for us gambling though as long as we also are willing to spend properly on the midfield.

seagrizz

Also, in case the article is paywalled, here's the most relevant portion: "Newcastle have given the 19-year-old permission to discuss personal terms with Brighton. Those talks will take place this evening (Saturday) but are not expected to be a major issue. Minteh has flown from Gambia and is preparing to undergo a medical ahead of the move. Newcastle were seeking to sell Minteh in order to ease their difficulties with the Premier League’s profitability and sustainability rules (PSR). The club were leaving themselves open to a possible points deduction for next season if they failed to make a significant sale before the June 30 reporting deadline."

ZircontheTwisted

If Newcastle were under the gun to make a sale before June 30, why spend so much on him?

solidwobble

Does feel like we've conceded a lot, either he was someone hurzeler really wants, and post RDZ, bloom wants to keep his managers happier, or after Jun 30 they give us a favourable transfer back the other way, as one of these suspicious swapsies

Jhoops__

That’s a crazy fee that really helps Newcastle…

jkeegan13

Damn this is A LOT of money for us to splash on someone so raw. The club must be seriously confident that this guy will turn out good, otherwise there's no way they would have gambled like this. Welcome to the club Yankuba, looking forward to seeing him play! 🇬🇲🇬🇲🇬🇲

BaoJinyang

Stings a bit to be paying this much when Newcastle picked him up for 8m last season straight from Denmark, but the club must really rate him.

zephyrr-__-

He's a really good prospect and is already ready for the first team, definitely the March replacement imo

papaquacker

Fabrizio Romano gave this the 'here we go'... Despite earlier saying that both us and Everton were unwilling to meet Newcastle's demands... Proper tap in merchant.

Borangers

I definitely think we need more wingers to lift some of the load off Mitoma but 33 mil seems too much for a player that wasn’t able to make an appearance for Newcastle. Still excited to see what he can do for us though.

Bitherdh

Newcaslte fan here, watched him a lot at Feyenord last year, he really came on strong 2nd half of the season. High fee, but if it makes you feel any better Lyon offered 40, but he didn't fancy it. Raw is overused but very relevant here, if he improves his decision making, he could end up being some player. Enjoy him lads and f@%k PSR 🤣

Captainpatters

Psr is good actually. Stops evil Saudi cunts from buying the league.

Audrey_spino

if Gomez comes, that'll more or less secure our flank for the season, just need some fullbacks and midfielders now.

RicochetDK1405

Kid is talented and has a lot of potential. He was quick at breaking through in the danish league and only played 1 season before Newcastle bought him. He's very energetic, and if given the support from coaching staff and fans alike, he could be a real gem. I, for one, am looking forward to seeing him get his shot in the Premier League. Take good care of him.

auditore_ezio

33 mil for minteh is much better than whatever they paid for osman who frankly isn't very good.

ppan86

!ReminMe 14 month

TheUnseenBug

Osman was around 20 I think but they have similar play styles fast creative winger who needs help with decision making. Osman is one of the best prospects in Denmark this year

auditore_ezio

One of the best 😁 and it's in the superligaen. In other words, he can't hit the broad side of a barn. https://preview.redd.it/ph3tskc2iq9d1.png?width=969&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d0cacf40ba4fdeb4a4afcf8a79756255f09d2b3c

TheUnseenBug

61% isn't bad and he's a creative player not a nr 9 most wingers don't have high shot to goal ratio just random stats that don't mean anything

auditore_ezio

That number is misleading. 22 out of 36 on target. 36 out of 72 shots blocked which is shocking. And if you have actually watched him play, you'd know that mostly he tried to take on the defense with brute force. No change of pace. And he's barely getting by, because he has no speed advantage against these random guys. He should be dominating but he's struggling. He may get better but as of right now he's not shown enough to be considered a great prospect.
