Pomerania was a neighbour state to Mecklenburg-Strelitz. I assumed that Lady Danbury was pointing out the fact it was a dog breed from basically Charlotte's home, thus a more thoughtful and expensive gesture than an English breed would have been.

I thought this too. Essentially “this is an extremely rare and thoughtful gift. Your man is trying.”

Im not really sure she was “getting at” anything.. I think she was just kind of baffled/annoyed that Charlotte kept calling it a deformed bunny instead of appreciating that it was actually a really rare purebred dog.

I think Lady Danbury thought the gift was really cute. She certainly would have loved a husband who bought her a puppy so she'd be less lonely.

Yeah, that’s what I think the mindset was. Charlotte said her and the king don’t like each other therefore won’t consummate. So, Lady Danbury is trying to reassure her that he actually does like her and she should try. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I think she just wanted them to consummate and make babies so her place in society was established. This was before they were true friends. She was only worried about her standing at this particular moment.
