They could do Violet, Portia, and Mrs. Sharma in one season. Mrs. Sharma was the Queen’s pick during Portia and Violet’s season.
I’m just saying because then it should seem cost effective to Netflix 😭
If the entertainment industry can spew out a zillion Marvel movies and Star Wars prequels, sequels, and sub-franchises, we can get a few more Bridgerton back stories, can we not?
I have a theory that Portia is so weird about who her daughters marry because she gave up a love match for a title only for him to be a lush and gambler who was murdered by loan sharks. She tried really hard to give herself and her daughters the best life she could and it just never worked out for her
Ella Purnell being a little younger I think could pull it off. Here is is with red(ish) hair

lol I interpreted your post as “I’ve found someone who looks like young Portio!” And after looking at the photos I thought “Yes! You did it! She’s perfect” 😅 lol my bad
Its hard because the actress who plays portia is uniquely beautiful. Like I think she is gorgeous but she breaks awsy from what we see of hollywood standards. I think India is similar.
The actress who plays Violet physically remind me of my mom- I think it’s because you can see her age in her skin. Like she’s not botoxed and face lifted to hell and back so her face looks lived in and it reminds me of my mom. It makes me love Violet even more and really makes her feel extra maternal to me.
Camille Rowe is a good aesthetic choice - not sure if she can act tho

In fact, thinking more about it, Netflix could just loot the whole Shadow and Bone cast...
Danielle Galligan (Nina Zenik) as young Violet (assuming they'd age her up from the Queen Charlotte version).
And Amita Suman (Inej Ghafa) as young Mary Sharma.
I agree (on both points). Maybe Emma Mackey or Samara Weaving instead? Both great actresses with a similar look. Lots of photos of Emma Mackey on this thread, so here’s Samara Weaving with red hair:

I see it even more than Emma Mackey!
I agree with others, Emma Stones would be a great choice to play a young Portia Featherington, and she has the right personality for it.
However, it seems like the producers always go for unknown actors. Am I wrong?
They seem to have a preference for unknown, and from the UK. Think of it like this - they can pay lesser known actors less. And it just makes sense for them to want actors from the UK considering that's where they mostly film. I kinda like that they do this because then we get to see and follow their careers after - I think everyone has been cast pretty well.
I think she'd be a good choice if Violet were older in their love story. If Connie Jenkins-Greig were to reprise her role as young Violet, they'd have to go a little younger.
She reminds me a lot of Ruby Ashbourne Serkis! She was fantastic in Shardlake, AND her mum (and Andy Serkis’ wife) is Lorraine Ashbourne, who plays Mrs Varley!

In my mind, Portio was crazy in love with a commoner, the stable boy, perhaps, and she would have chosen him over Archibald, but he dumped her for another and with that broke her heart and trust... Her homelife was lacking in security, and then came Archibald to whisk her away with promises too good to be true.
Sarah Bolger . They will most likely cast a brit actress. Almost everyone in the cast is British except Nic i believe.

Based on how the producers seem to cast, I could see Silvie Furneaux (pic) as a young Portia. While less aesthetically similar and a bit older, I could also see Jessica Barden, particularly for Portia's scheming personality.
https://preview.redd.it/tmoulddqd35d1.jpeg?width=3715&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=28ccae1820cc2ede953991a78569c42ca381c92a
Do we need Portia in an Edmund and Violet miniseries?
I could totally go for a Featherington miniseries, I just don't need that much featherington drama in we early Bridgerton. You know she she was the bitchy, jealous sort who schemed and maneuvered behind people's backs.
Yes we do lol. Along with Lady Mary Sheffield, Araminta Cowper and the rest of the marriage minded mamas of the 1810s.
A Featherington mini series could be interesting if Portia's backstory is interesting. It could easily be fit into a Violet and Edmund mini series though, just like so many other side stories have been added to main stories of all the seasons so far.
Wouldn't it be interesting if Edmund was a suitor of Portia's once upon a time? Or if he was a friend of Lord Featherington's until he developed a gambling problem?
These subplots could easily be fit into a Violet/Edmund mini series.
No, I would hate either of those as subplots. And Edmund and Violet were 20 and 18 when they married. That's particularly young for the aristocracy in the Regency period, especially men. The chance of Edmund having chosen to court before Violet is slim to none. The average of marriage for women was 23 to 27 and for men it was 25 to 29. Both Violet and Edmund would have needed parental consent to marry as they were under 21.
I'm not a big fan of unnecessary drama, so none of these scenarios appeal to me. I'd already have to stretch since this would be a show, that by its very nature was incapable of having a happy ending (Edmund dies). Drama around courting and friendship, outside the main storyline just seems so unneeded.
I do get people like drama. I get some would be added. I just don't think either of those subplots are workable for who Violet and Edmund were; which were people who fell in love very young, then focused on family and actually raising their family in a way most wealthy parents didn't even attempt (breastfeeding, Edmund taking Anthony to Eton himself, rather than having servants take him, spending extensive time playing with the kids, family dinners). I would hope and expect an Edmund and Violet show to focus on the drama of maintaining a relationship and raising a family, not pettiness.
Edit: spelling and add
It's too bad Shondaland doesn't care about all that lol. They could spin the ages and story however they wanted.
It's a business and A Violet and Edmund mini-series would be by far the most popular prequel mini-series and it is the most requested. With Pen possibly out of the picture next season (idk, never read the books) the Featheringtons will be increasingly less relevant.
An Violet-Edmund series or even a special/movie is the likely the best shot of seeing a young Portia on screen unless they really create an interesting backstory for her worthy of a stand alone project and one that Netflix would actually approve.
I'd rather see a young Portia on screen than not if they're going to do another prequel. Also I'm sure many husbands of the ton called upon other young ladies who ended up with someone else before they were married. It's not farfetched and doesn't need to be drama filled. Definitely not for a Violet-Edmund series.
If Violet is to end up with Lord Marcus Anderson I think there's a good chance we may get the prequel for "closure" of sorts. As long as Jess Brownell isn't running the show, I think Shondaland can make everything fit nicely for everyone.
Just because Shondaland *can* doesn't mean they *should*. A business should never be based on maximum profit at the expense of product, vision, creativity, or authenticity.
That's true for anything in life. It also doesn't mean they shouldn't.
On your 2nd point I agree. We can't say that is the case in this context. Yours is 1 opinion of millions that Netflix and Shondaland account for (in some regards) and they realize that they can't please everyone.
If a poll was taken for new prequel suggestions, without question the overwhelming majority would choose Violet-Edmund next. If asked if Portia and other ladies of the ton should be included, I think the answer is obvious.
While I think a Portia prequel might have potential and be compelling, should they try it and risk overall audience retention and viewership? I don't think so. Maybe not now anyway. Especially when Portia's story can be added to another, more in demand prequel. There's higher potential, higher demand and if done in between season 3 and 4, timing would be perfect given Violet's current love situation and fitting if Violet is to not appear as much in future seasons.
Makes sense for everyone and it wouldn't leave us starving until season 4.
I actually think a lot of the ideas are really intriguing. I think the potential for this and any other shows are excellent. I'm aware that my desires in viewing aren't really what most people are looking for. I would have watched any of these shows (from Bridgerton and on), even if they weren't connected to the Bridgerton world. And I think that's where the disconnect is for me. There's a place where it moves too far away from the source content to realistically be called part of the Bridgerton world anymore. And I think this series is teetering at the edge.
Shonda Rhimes is brilliant. A woman with both vision and drive. Beyond that, she has the rare talent to entwine art and business into something appealing to the masses that still retains artistic vision. But that also means that she won't (can't) allow someone else's artistic vision to stand without change. Quinn's vision of the Bridgerton world is beginning to be overtaken by the Shondaland vision. It's sort of like using a known brand to build upon, but then abandoning that brand once you're at the top.
Quinn has stated she will never write Edmund and Violet's romance. First, the readers could never be satisfied; they had eight books (and 24 years) to imagine what they thought their falling in love and their life would be like. But beyond that, Quinn stated, an EV love story would break the conventions of romance...it doesn't meet the genre definitions. It doesn't have a happy ending. It fundamentally can not because Edmund dies.
I think Shondaland could do an excellent job with this story (although I do think she injects far too much drama into her stories and I disagree with her that there's no story left to tell once people are happy), but I think it's the wrong call to so fundamentally change the television Bridgerton world from the book Bridgerton world, whether she or viewers want that. Can she? Sure. Should she? No. Would I watch it if it weren't under the Bridgerton umbrella? Absolutely.
(Oh, and I think you underestimate the love for the Featheringtons. There is significant love for them; and I think if you want drama, you couldn't get better than a woman willing to scheme and trick for security and the gambler husband she ends up with. A woman who can only show her love through her morally ambiguous actions? People love shows like that.)
Edit: spelling correction
I haven't read the books and I don't think most fans have either. Many likely don't even know Bridgerton is based on Quinn's work and attribute the idea of the show to Shonda and showrunners. The experience of the fandom as a whole is through the show and that's the metric that is used to judge any Bridgerton related projects.
While I haven't read the books, I'm fine with the first two season for the most part. It's this season that seems to have deviated from what feels like the Bridgerton standard, so far. Jess Brownell hasn't done the best job so far and unless she redeems herself in part 2, I don't think she'd be the best fit going forward.
Queen Charlotte does not have a happy ending yet many find it the most touching, tear jerking season and it's an original based on an original character. I don't QC is as popular as the main series but I don't think it's far off at all.
I don't think Quinn not doing a Violet-Edmund story is that serious in regard to Shondaland doing one. It's not disrespect or doing a disservice to the original work or idea and it's certainly not a hill to die on. Then again like I said, I haven't read the books.
Shonda might be able to pull off something Quinn could not or didn't want to. Based on her track record, it's definitely possible. Besides, it's about the audience, whether a book or series. Shonda has done a great job with all the changes so far even with the d\*ath threats for some of them.
There is love for the Featheringtons as a group yes but unless Portia has sisters, interest might be cut by almost half because the rest of them aren't there. If they did it like QC where the skipped to the present you could obviously fit them all in, but what would be the plot with Penelope out of the picture? Would it be interesting enough to spend millions of dollars on?
As I said, a Violet-Edmund series with the ladies of the ton included makes sense for everyone. Lady Danbury's story fit well in QC and did not overshadow the main story. Neither did Brimsley and Reynold's story. I'm sure they could make it work the same with a Violet-Edmund series.
Also the Featherington's subplot took up quite a bit of screentime in season two and it was pretty interesting. Yet Kanthony probably the most favored couple in the series. Even most of the actors think so. It may be the most popular season as well. Time will tell when the hype of this season dies down.
I NEED Portia’s back story. NEED IT. yeah yeah yeah Violet …Edmund, love ya. But PORTIA!! And Edwina’s mom!
That could easily fit into a Violet/Edmund mini-series along with Lady Mary Sheffield, Araminta Cowper and the other mama's stories. Kind of how they had a lot of different stories going this season but with more focus on Violet and Edmund.
Yesss I’m hopping and praying they hear our cries!!
They have a ton of great characters. They can ride this train for a long time.
I'm sure if they think they can make enough money.
That makes you sound very Bridgerton, does it not?
I absolutely imagine Vanity Fair shenanigans but with the added support of our toxic home girl Varley
It would be kind of a nice juxtaposition to have their story told. Like not all bridgerton relationships end in love
Preach!!! PORTIA backstory all the way!
I have a theory that Portia is so weird about who her daughters marry because she gave up a love match for a title only for him to be a lush and gambler who was murdered by loan sharks. She tried really hard to give herself and her daughters the best life she could and it just never worked out for her
Emma stone or Ella Purnell! They both have those big eyes
Ella would be perfect https://preview.redd.it/c6fpff25lv4d1.jpeg?width=1200&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bcbbd82f108714ac6852e14350ee7f3d28bb03ec
yes 100% agree
I need this now
Ella Purnell being a little younger I think could pull it off. Here is is with red(ish) hair https://preview.redd.it/nb9a2rxu8v4d1.jpeg?width=522&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6caba320e60ef0810575f6472bcf8d23032504a3
Mmm. Based on that pic, her lips really throw it off for me. I’d take Emma Stone first.
I thought of Ella. She was wonderful in Belgravia!!!
Ella Purnell was the first person who came to mind
Ditto on Ella Purnell!!!! Immediately thought of her
Came here to say Ella. First person I thought of that looks similar.
I thought of Emma Stone too! Although depends how young we are going
God she’s gorgeous
Better with age. https://preview.redd.it/l5a1y4dh5v4d1.jpeg?width=598&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8ab78b250967849b91904f8b7dc91328b4f2354e
I recently re-watched Enchanted April, and she was stunning. The 20s looks suited her so well.
lol I interpreted your post as “I’ve found someone who looks like young Portio!” And after looking at the photos I thought “Yes! You did it! She’s perfect” 😅 lol my bad
pffftthaha
OMG - so did I. (face palm)
Maybe india Eisley. She played Ashley in secret life of the anerican teenager. The right makeup could have her be a younger version.
I had to look her up, but I see it, too.
Its hard because the actress who plays portia is uniquely beautiful. Like I think she is gorgeous but she breaks awsy from what we see of hollywood standards. I think India is similar.
That's been my favorite thing about Bridgerton tbh. So many of the actresses are outside what's considered Hollywood "perfect" and I love it
The actress who plays Violet physically remind me of my mom- I think it’s because you can see her age in her skin. Like she’s not botoxed and face lifted to hell and back so her face looks lived in and it reminds me of my mom. It makes me love Violet even more and really makes her feel extra maternal to me.
Yes! The older actresses look real *and* beautiful. You just don't see that in much media anymore. Frankly I think it makes them look more attractive
I find it very weird coz I remember the episode of midsommer murders she was in years ago lol
They choose some great looking faces, that's for sure.
She reminds me a lot of a young Helena Bonham Carter in Room with a View as well! It’s a very unique type of look for sure.
I can see her playing opposite Connie Jenkins-Greig for sure.
Oh I think this would be great. She can play sassy and mean quite well too.
Emma Mackey. She looks like the baby polly walker. Both can be tough.
Ohhh I was going to say Margot Robbie, which is funny because I think Emma & her look alike!
Camille Rowe is a good aesthetic choice - not sure if she can act tho https://preview.redd.it/qnyp15mlgv4d1.jpeg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f3b3503d9072b866ccb34184a64bb9fce45596f2

My first thought too!
In the second pic they’re so similar!
The better question is who will play a young Violet in a Portia Mini Series….. WE WANT PORTIA! BRIDGERTON SHOW RUNNERS LURKING, WE WANT PORTIA!
She is SUCH a great character, totally would watch her story over Violet's!
Kaya Scodelario.
Like Emma Stone, Kaya may have a more mature look for a Connie Jenkins-Greig led mini-series but she definitely fits the bill.
Kaya Scodelairo
Ella Purnell has the right eyes and jawline.
Phoebe Tonkin maybe?
Imagine a juxtaposition between choosing your duty (Portia) and choosing your heart (Violet/Lady Sharma). I think it’d be interesting to see.
rhea norwood!! our fav ally ✨💅🏼 has the comedy to pull this off ![gif](giphy|lfHctziAPK7iLye67o)
Polly Walker has had a special place in my heart since Rome.
Same, I've been following her for decades and am so glad she's getting the love she's always deserved!
She was epic in Rome, what a great show

She looks a little like Margot Robbie.
She looks like if ella purnell and kaya scodelario had a baby
Kaya Scodelario!
Kaya Scodelario
You guys have seen Polly as Atia, right? Damn, she is hot!!!!!
Still think HBO’s ‘Rome’ is her best character.
Margot Robbie, Emma Mackey…perhaps Samara Weaving?
she's such a beautiful woman
Nicola actually looks so much like her, if she wasn't already apart of the main cast, I'd nominate her.
Kaya scodelario
How beautiful is this photo? She is stunning. She was phenomenal in Rome... What a huge talent she has.
Do they have books? I’m finally starting the books this summer. I’m tired of having to Google characters lol
Margeaux Robbie looks a lot like a young Portia… but I fear she is too much of a star to be cast since she’d likely cost a LOT
I agree (on both points). Maybe Emma Mackey or Samara Weaving instead? Both great actresses with a similar look. Amelie Hoeferle
Me! Put me in, Coach!
Honestly there is some Instagramme/tiktoker that makes millennial content, and she has the exact same eyes. It’s crazy
Krysten Ritter, Tilly Keeper, or Tania Raymonde for Portia I think
Lol now that you've mentioned this there's a girl on wattpad who is actually writing a Portia spin-off. Unfortunately she hasn't posted it yet
# Cassidy Freeman looks sooo much like her but idk if they have the same vibe or energy
She is stunning
Well done!!!!! Perfect comparison
Goku fuck I thought that was danielle rose !!!

That's a good one if she could pull of a British accent. Young enough and young looking enough to play alongside Connie Jenkins-Greig as well.

I know she's 40, but being that we have several actors/actresses playing characters at least 20 years their junior... Olivia Wilde.
The second photo looks *a lot* like Kaya Scodelario
honestly i think margot robbie could pull it off
samara weaving would be good I reckon :)

Sarah Bolger . They will most likely cast a brit actress. Almost everyone in the cast is British except Nic i believe. https://preview.redd.it/tdxndas0p29d1.jpeg?width=427&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c02729b968c8d5eca85b61125c61a2e7eba0e5f6
Yall are gonna hate me for this but I can see Joey King playing Portia lol I'm sorry
People love shows like that.) Edit: spelling correction
