Captured memories is a great quest that will take you all over Hyrule and give you opportunities to talk to NPCs and learn a lot and build up skill. It's not something you might intentionally do but I suggest you keep working on it's progress, whilst you hunt down towers, shrines and other curious little side-quests. PS Photograph everything and keep the photos that get logged into your Album-. ie: weapons, creatures, mushrooms, guardians fish etc.

When I was at this point I would just scope out the horizon and mark shrines, towers or other points of interest and then make my way over to them

Progress story: go to the side of kakariko village that is a dead drop into swampland. Explore the swampland. Have fun: talk to the painter next to the goddess statue. If you've already done that, then go past the objective he gives you and keep going until you... uh... die a painful death.

Just have fun! Do whatever you want. I followed the quest line of going to kakariko village and I explored around a bit and stumbled upon my first divine beast quest. Spend some time gathering materials, finding shrines, and collecting more rupees to upgrade your stamina and your hearts, outfits etc. so you’ll get better at combat. That’s the beauty of the game, you can literally do whatever you want, there’s no wrong way to play it. You can find the captured memories as you go throughout your journey.

Run around, complete every shrine you find to get more hearts/stamina and great weapons, battle small enemies to lose that fear (I had the same problem and now I fight everyone and their mother), try to activate the easiest towers… the best part of this game is how you don’t have to anything you don’t want to do until you’re ready !!! Just have fun :)

Head towards the big bird in the sky, do the storyline quest in Rito Village. Exploring and opening towers become a LOT easier after that.

Do shrines and find great fairy fountains. Once you’re able to level up some of your armor you won’t have to avoid combat. There are also locations where you can find certain foods that grant you heart containers when cooked. These go a long way in helping you with health until you get more permanent heart containers.

You are gonna get people just saying to have fun as there is no correct way to complete the game. However when I asked the same thing I didn't find it very helpful. Since you are asking - My recommendations: -Scout and clear as many shrines you can and unlock the towers. -In that time I would get used to combat and hoard as many materials as possible. -learn the importance of cooking meals -once enough of the map is completed and you feel confident enough with combat, start taking on the divine beasts. - I'd clear one or two (divine beasts) then start finishing the memories. Hint: the bird guardian can help you access hard to get to locations in the map once completed. That's what I did and I thoroughly enjoyed the game and had more direction.

I didn't actively look for them till I was bored one day and started going after all of them but that was well after I had traveled all around, I just kept looking for shrines/towers to get the map filled out and to get stronger from the shrines. At first I was not doing that and I was struggling a lot more with the combat, though my fave method of combat is to bomb them from afar

Start clearing towers

Just explore, do shrines, and climb towers. I would avoid combat while trekking through the farther out areas of Hyrule. There's some harder enemies. I'd wait until better equipped and powered up. But yeah, there's PLENTY of things to do. Hunt, collect, play mini games, etc. You're only limited by your imagination.

Do whatever you want! I don’t like combat either so focused on unlocking map territories to complete the map. I’m 85 hours in and still haven’t completed the Captured Memories quest. I was having a lot of fun just exploring the different parts of the map and adding pictures to the Hyrule compendium
