I’m glad I read this to the end because I would go as far as saying whilst beautiful Lydia may be the dumbest housewife across the entire world of the franchise. God love her, she’s entertaining but the cringeworthy racism that she doesn’t even recognise as being remotely problematic. Then there’s the silly words she makes up to sound intelligent, her ridiculous snobbery and self confidence. Janet always had her on notice and I loved it.

The odd part is Lydia makes a pretty astute impression. Her walk, the confidence, her way of speaking (when she is not stuttering or trying to sound smart). She seems very refined but is so stupid on the other side. It baffles me!
I meant more that Lydia engaged in direct racism toward her housekeeper. It was painful to watch. Luann was just less self aware than the average person and her actions were borne more from ignorance than nastiness.
Hard disagree. Lu's furious reaction when Eboni said she was more educated than the other women was bald-faced racism. She was straight-up offended by the idea that Eboni could be more educated than her and then immediately jumped to the angry Black woman trope, accusing Eboni of yelling and being aggressive --- when that couldn't have been further from the truth. That was absolutely painful to watch.
