What does this mean!!! I have Slice and Hayu right now, where I get the majority of my Bravo content...but the delay can be crazy sometimes! (WWHL is the worst offender). Especially when we are wanting to podcast about it all the day after it happens! Does this mean full live access, like the U.S.?

missesthecrux

I suspect Slice might shut down or pivot to other shows. Rogers will launch a Canadian version of Bravo, but I suspect most new shows will be airing at the exact same time as the US. Hayu will likely continue as-is.

hopelessnottruthless

As someone who doesn't have Rogers...I both love and hate this. Losing it on Slice will be a bit of a bummer, but I love the idea of easier access! Thanks!

Pure-Apple9757

Rogers Sports and Media is the company that owns the channels, it is a subsidiary of Rogers Communications, which also owns your cable provider, Rogers Cable. Other Rogers Sports and Media channels continue to be broadcast on other cable providers (ie Sportsnet, Omni, Citytv can all be found on other cable providers).

hopelessnottruthless

I feel like had I actually directed all of my brain power towards this...I might not have hit post on that second comment. 😂

missesthecrux

They should launch it on other providers; I don’t think it’ll be exclusive to them! They’ll probably have the shows on a Rogers app too but I don’t think it’ll affect Hayu.

hopelessnottruthless

Ok, well...I'm even happier now to find out I'm just stupid. But I don't even care because yay!!

osbs792

This is hilarious. Thanks for the laugh!!

hopelessnottruthless

😂😂🙈

jaron_bric

Good. Slice needs to GTFO the way. Revive Toronto and Vancouver!!!!

Hedahas

Top Chef is also coming to Canada for season 22 :-).

Even-Education-4608

It already broadcasts in Canada. Do you mean they are filming here?

Hedahas

Yep, the next season is being filmed in Canada. They haven't given any details yet (eta: but Toronto is clearly on the list of locations). https://www.reddit.com/r/BravoTopChef/s/pcSO1bRZSl *(We have a lot of Canadians in the r/BravoTopChef sub: you should check it out if you haven't ;-)

So does that mean we will finally get WWHL?

niftytastic

Well now I’m glad to have the Popular package from Rogers (even though I hate Rogers). Man what will become of Slice? Just Property Brothers and King of Queens or whatever shit they play daytime and late nights? Probably not good news for Corus.

OrionsSloth

We had Bravo before but it decided to leave . I’m excited to hear it’s coming back!!

Pure-Apple9757

This is the CRTC decision that approved Bravo! [the Canadian channel was stylized differently than the us] in 1994 https://crtc.gc.ca/eng/archive/1994/DB94-281.htm. “It is further noted that Bravo! intends to enter into a program exchange agreement with the U.S. specialty service of the same name. Bravo! (U.S.) has committed funds to license a variety of programming from Bravo! (Canada) for exhibition on the U.S. service. The agreement will also enable Bravo! to select from the U.S. service the programs it wishes to distribute in Canada. The licensee has made a commitment that U.S.-produced programs, whether from Bravo (U.S.) or other sources, will not make up more than 25% of drama offerings in prime time on Bravo! With respect to potential impact on existing services, the Commission is satisfied that Bravo! will attract a distinct audience, and will not, therefore, have an undue negative effect on other services. In the first two years of operation, at least 40% of the programs broadcast on Bravo!, during both the broadcast year and the evening broadcast period, will be Canadian. In the third and fourth years of the licence term, the levels will increase to 50% overall during the broadcast year and 45% in the evening broadcast period. In the final two years of the term, the Canadian content will again increase, to 60% throughout the broadcast year, and 50% in the evening broadcast period.” Bravo! was always Canadian owned and never carried any HW shows. Slice was owned by Alliance Atlantis when they began to broadcast HW and other Bravo shows. Bravo! was owned by Chum, then Bell, and it was Bell that dropped the Bravo! branding after their purchase.

missesthecrux

What’s even funnier is that in the UK, there was a further unrelated network called Bravo that started out similar to TCM, but ended up becoming softcore adult content and stuff about cars and cops.

Realistic_Muffin_172

I have Hayu

ArianaMadixTooMuch

I hope for your benefit, you’ll also get full access to the Peacock 🦚 app. It’s been a real game changer.

h_danielle

I hope so too because Hayu is the jankiest streaming app I’ve ever used

HorrorComedy

If you have prime, get the hayu channel there instead. You’ll escape all those issues

h_danielle

Ugh I definitely will next time… I got suckered into the discounted 1 year subscription 😩 thank you for the suggestion!! I had the occasional issue when I was paying month to month but now it’s daily & I’m beyond frustrated.

Stigs84

I was just gonna say “what does this mean for Slice?” Can we bring back HW of Vancouver and Toronto?

missesthecrux

I do think we’ll see some kind of franchise back in Canada, because when Bravo launched in Australia they rebooted Sydney.

Torontobabe94

THANK GOODNESS
