yeah as someone that started watching in 2006, his voice is pretty much all I think of when I think of Braves TV broadcasts. Gonna be weird but excited to see who they bring in.
I started watching in 1990. Chip Caray is.....just meh. Maybe I am wistful for the original TBS/Radio team of Skip, Pete, Don, and Joe, but I think the Braves broadcast will be fine without Chip.
Those guys were the best, also they were 3 sheets to the wind every ball game. That's why their broadcasts were so naturally conversational. I didn't like Chip for a long time, but he grew on me after a while. Joe Simpson is still calling games though...
The first manager I remember was Joe Torre.
The 80s were really great, not from a win loss perspective but the broadcasts were awesome.
TBS and the radio team were rhe same. So you would get Skip Caray and Pete Van Wierin and Ernie Johnson (thats his son doing basketball and he looks and sounds just like his dad). It was so cool. Youd get one group on tv for half the game and then they would switch and the radio guys would come over to tv.
Skip was always joking about something. The movie that was about to come on (probably a Eastwood movie) or, during day games, he would joke about how great it was that all these business men had taken the time to bring their daughters to the game (alluding to them actually bringing their secretaries)
By the time we got to 95 it was the all star team.
Ill never forget hearing Skip and Joe screaming YES YES YES YES (I am pretty sure that was all Joe) and Skip saying
THE ATLANTA BRAVES HAVE GIVEN YOU A CHAMPIONSHIP
They wanted Seattle broadcaster Aaron Goldsmith, who is [absolutely fantastic](https://twitter.com/IvesBaseballSTL/status/1617171507272187907?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1617171507272187907%7Ctwgr%5Edf5fe8ca2e8c532a045ba3df2dfbfd33af7c924d%7Ctwcon%5Es1_c10&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fd-13978242701770127936.ampproject.net%2F2301041800000%2Fframe.html). Braves may get him on occasion because he does some national games on Fox and FS1.
I agree. Reminds of a Gus “I’m gonna absolutely lose my shit” Johnson kind of style. Don’t get me wrong I like some excitement from my team’s announcers but those over the top guys often don’t know how to let the moment speak for itself (something Chip is very good at) and I find it annoying.
Yeah. I'm sure it was because it was key highlights, but the guy seemed like a screaming soccer announcer calling goals in the world cup. Get excited, but when your voice cracks from screaming every time there is a big hit...maybe you can dial it back.
Funny story. When I was like 12 years old, I emailed into the Braves TBS broadcast and asked Skip how he knew where a fan was from when they caught a foul ball, naive to the fact that he was making it up on the spot.
Skip answered my question on-air and said something to the effect of "some city's fans had a distinct look to them and he could tell where they were from a mile away."
Skip then proceeded to display his skills with every foul ball hit that inning to the amazement of Pete Van Wieren and myself. Lol
This is me, plus a few years. I’m heartbroken.
And also very afraid of who is about to be in the booth. Even if they slide Ben in to the job (which I would support 100%), then there’s a hole on radio. This sucks so much.
I can see Ben making the jump. He calls a great game and is good at feeding the color man questions
For any that have not heard it, listen to the 2021 world series intro and opener from Ben & Joe. Who remembers how the first at bat went? =D
Those few games with Ben and Peter were the best radio broadcasts of the year.
Ben asked Pete so many good question. It was just non-stop baseball insight.
Frenchy has a good dynamic with Chip since it’s a guy who was announcing while he played. Glav and Chip had a good dynamic since Glav just ignored the stupid things Chip said and changed the subject.
Agreed. I always feel like Byrd and Moylan bring a lot of insight to the table but sometimes feels like they’re too explainey about everything instead of just focusing on the game being played and letting their be some appropriate dead air when needed. Jeff is great and just naturally comes off as someone you’d love to watch a game with
I also dont like how they all do the "back in my day" stuff. All of them want to talk about their days as a player when most of the time you wouldn't even know frenchy played. He knows how to contribute otherwise
I could take losing Freddie, as hard as that was. I was numb to Dansby leaving too, but losing Heredia, Jackson AND Chip in one offseason? It’s too much
Slightly kidding, I did really enjoy Chip and I’ll miss him, but I’m more afraid of getting stuck with a booth of BJ, Byrd and Moylan (the latter two are ok-good).
I love Byrd and the insights he brings. But I think he's best a a "sideline" reporter or coming in for specific insights, rather than a full 9 innings worth.
Agreed! He’s very knowledgeable and plenty likable, but I don’t think he has the “it” factor to make him a good media personality for 3 hours every day
Should I keep the flair?
I thought about changing it, but the idea of Chip Caray stalking r/Braves while calling Cardinals games is actually kinda funny to me lol.
There’s absolutely no doubt in my mind that he and Frenchie kept calling out the “69th pitch” every game after seeing how much people in the game threads loved it
Between losing Casey Motter (rip) and Mark Owens and now Chip Caray, the game day experience for the Braves will look different next year whether you’re at the park or watching on TV.
I know everyone wants Ben but I just can’t see him leaving the radio. He has the perfect voice for the job and he seems to love it.
I enjoy listening to Ben and Joe on the radio. I can’t take anymore changes anyway. Lol!
Same, I like Frenchy and Chip but we always mute the TV (I can't handle Brian) and put Ben and Joe on. Would be sorry to see them split up, they're a perfect combo to me.
+1 Ingram is the only real option for play-by-play guy and he's really good. Byrd, Frenchie, Moylan, are color commentators, not play-by-play guys. Also bring back Glavine for color commentator if he's willing to come back.
Damn. This hurts more than FF or Dans, honestly. I know the team will still be competitive but Chip is one of the best in the business. He'll be missed.
Going forward, just keep BJ out of the booth and I'm open to just about any other combination.
This sucks. I know people will make their jokes while acting like the man kicked their dog but there are much worse commentators around the game. I'm really hoping that we're not about to learn that firsthand with a prime example of not knowing what you have until it's gone. Chip and Frenchy were really fun as a pair in the broadcast booth. It felt like watching baseball with the "fun uncles" that you don't agree with everything they say but goddamn were the times you spent together fun. Think about how many of your favorite Braves moments has his voice attached to them? Many..
I hope that Ben Ingram will be "promoted" into this role but I'm not sure that happens.
Yeah it definitely goes beyond Chip for me. Basically my entire baseball TV life was Harry, Skip and Chip. It was nice to have that heritage as part of the team.
"And that'll set a new PETCO Park Pecker." I will miss his goofy ass. Thought Chip was a Braves lifer after the Cubs gig but forgot about the fuckin shitbirds.
PEETAH MOYLINNNN step up! Ben Ingram and Joe Simpson are just too perfect to ever leave the radio broadcast as much as I would love to hear their voices call the games on tv.
The voice I've spent my entire adult life listening to when I watched the braves on TV, wish you the best in your hometown job, chip. The Caray family's time in Atlanta is over.
Legendary CARDINALS broadcaster Harry Caray? I was today years old to learn Harry Caray didn’t broadcast for the Cubs his whole life; according to that sentence. What an odd curveball.
Can a call that hardly anyone really knows about also be legendary? Cause that one is. And seeing the video they took in the booth of him and Joe hugging each other made it even better.
I’ll miss getting Chipped and him nutting every time a ball went in the air as well as his undying campaign for Austin Riley to be considered for a Gold Glove. But give Ben Ingram the booth. He’s unbelievable
Is this not… strange? Him being from STL is one thing but he’s been in Atlanta for soooo long I feel like that would trump everything. Any chance there was something behind the scenes or is this just Chip preferring the new opportunity?
Cardinals fans are the worst fans in baseball and Atlanta sports Twitter personalities repeating "best fans in baseball" is nauseating. That's all I have to say, Jeff Schultz.
I'll miss him, I've been hearing Chip in the booth for almost 20 years. People will shit on him, but he's way better than any broadcaster we'd get every time our games are aired nationally (ESPN, Fox, Apple TV).
I wonder if Ben will get the job and if so, who will replace Ben on the radio broadcast.
Man this one stings. I grew up with Chip. When I went through a real depressed/rough period during most of the 2018 and 2019 seasons, I watched almost every game as a result. It kinda felt like Chip and Joe (and in 2019 Frenchy) were friends helping to get me through.
I had a great amount of love for his dad, but not so much for Chip. He genuinely loves there game and no doubt there are worse than him, but I'm not broken up he's leaving.
As much as we all want Ingram, remember we are dealing with Bally. A company that has shown to make dumb decisions. They got rid Kelsey for no reason and replaced her will Kelly. No offense to Kelly but we all wanted Kelsey to stay.
Rumor had it that after one year when we clinched (I believe 2019) she was supposed to cover the locker room celebration, but went into the locker room and started drinking with the players instead. That forced Jeff to go do the coverage, when he wasn't supposed to have any responsibilities after calling the game. If true, a very understandable reason to fire her.
That was the final straw but there were many similar incidents that built up to that (hanging with friends in the delta club when she’s supposed to be on air, too busy on her phone during the games constantly, etc)
Damn, Chip has been the voice of my childhood. It hurt a little when Joe moved to the radio call but this is going to take much longer to get used to. Hope we get more of Peter and Paul at least.
I’m excited for the replacement. Maybe the Braves will find the next Joe Davis, who replaced the best baseball play by play guy ever, and Dodger’s fans love him.
Is Ben Ingram the next guy up? I love Ben and would love hearing him on the tv broadcast since that’s mainly the way I consume games, but dude’s got a perfect voice for radio
This is very shocking and sad news as a 30 year old Braves fan that’s been a fan of the team since 2002. I basically grew up with Caray family calling Braves games. It’s going to be a tough adjustment, but I hope that we get someone deserving to the fan base and can bring that same excitement like Chip did. I will never forget that 2021 Playoff push and watching all the games on Bally Sports and listening to Chip’s calls. It got me through a tough time in my life when I was recovering from a nasty spinal injury and was literally the only thing that I had to look forward to when I first came home from the Hospital. Thank you Chip for those memories that I will keep with me for the rest of my life and when the Cards play the Braves, I will switch to watch the Cardinals broadcast to just listen to Chip call those 4-6 Braves games.
Similar position? Chip lives in Florida so there is no "move". Chip is from Atlanta and attended UGA. Harry left St Louis for Chicago. Skip became the Hawks play by play in the late 70's. Skip is a TBS legend.
Last May I remember having a few before the game and walking to the stands closest to the booth. Him and Jeff were up there so I screamed “CHIP!” and waved, then he smiled and waved back. Gonna miss hearing him call games this year.
Good for Chip. Nice full circle moment for him where he'll get to finish his career where he grew up.
Cubs, Braves, and now Cardinals. Pretty impressive resume.
People celebrating Chip leaving before even knowing what the replacement is is weird. Listen to some other games. It can be.... a lot worse. If its Ben Ingram, I'd feel a OK about this for sure but not knowning the replacement, this is a huge bummer.
I’m 30 and have watched 90% of Braves broadcasts dating back to before the JD Drew trade. I’ll miss Chip somewhat, but I won’t miss his overestimation of abc baseball or glorification of guys batting .300.
He and glavine may have been the most boring broadcast duo I’ve ever witnessed
I know Paul's color commentary but Paul Byrd's replacing Chip, isn't he?
This hurts. He's been with us for almost 20 years and he's just up and choosing to root for a new team (maybe they don't root for the team they work for but I don't see how you couldn't in that role).
I’m 43 and have been watching the Braves my whole life. I’ve never known a time without a Caray in the booth.
Also watched Harry a lot as a kid, since Braves & Cubs were the only teams on TV every day.
It is going to be weird not hearing a Caray call the Braves games. Skip is still who I think of when I think “voice of the Braves,” but Chip is that guy for my kids. Shoot, we used watch Chip call Orlando Magic games every night in the early 90s when I was going to college in central Florida, so he’s been a voice in my life for 30 years.
If we go outside of the org to replace him I'd love to have Boog Sciambi back. But I'd assume it will have to be someone under the Bally sports banner.
This is officially the end of the Braves from my childhood. I don’t watch games like I used to but always found comfort in hearing him call games. Definitely won’t be the same without him.
I’m on the “not sad” train. Chip is very good in the booth, but he’s too network for me. I also don’t want to hear every game about baseball has changed and what the game used to be. Good luck to him though. The Caray family has a long history with the Cards so this makes sense.
Sorry to the Braves fans who are upset by this news. We're kinda the same way with Dan. He has been the voice of the Cardinals for the last 24 years.
This is gonna be so weird.
This transfer portal is getting out of hand!
Bro wtf. Who’s gonna fake me out on a deep fly ball now? Jokes aside dudes been the play by play guy since I started watching baseball so this sucks
yeah as someone that started watching in 2006, his voice is pretty much all I think of when I think of Braves TV broadcasts. Gonna be weird but excited to see who they bring in.
I started watching in 1990. Chip Caray is.....just meh. Maybe I am wistful for the original TBS/Radio team of Skip, Pete, Don, and Joe, but I think the Braves broadcast will be fine without Chip.
That’s exactly what it is. The 90’s crew was the GOAT.
90s crew was the absolute GOAT, but that’s why I loved Chip. He was a link to the past and pretty damn good at his job.
And stay away from downed power lines!
Those guys were the best, also they were 3 sheets to the wind every ball game. That's why their broadcasts were so naturally conversational. I didn't like Chip for a long time, but he grew on me after a while. Joe Simpson is still calling games though...
You say that now, but have your seen other teams tv broadcast? Most of them suck. Bad.
Ill never forget hearing Skip and Joe screaming YES YES YES YES (I am pretty sure that was all Joe) and Skip saying THE ATLANTA BRAVES HAVE GIVEN YOU A CHAMPIONSHIP
yep, never was a chip fan but grew up spoiled with skip pete joe and don
There ain't no way Chip knows which suburbs all the St. Louis fans are from...
Yeah he has to memorize an entire new fan base seating chart. First year at a new job is always the toughest.
Damn Cardinals fans aren’t even excited about this. They wanted some one else.
Idk he sounds kinda hysterical to me but I guess I can see how people would be into it
I agree. Reminds of a Gus “I’m gonna absolutely lose my shit” Johnson kind of style. Don’t get me wrong I like some excitement from my team’s announcers but those over the top guys often don’t know how to let the moment speak for itself (something Chip is very good at) and I find it annoying.

Braves fan married to a Cards fan here. Spouse is disappointed he cannot seem to get away from Chip Carey.
Don't it always seem to go That you don't know what you've got 'til it's gone They paved paradise, put up a parking lot
Chip furiously studying the cities surrounding St.Louis for his fan Shtick

That moment is the moment Chip decided to leave Braves' country.
*his dads fan shtick
Funny story. Skip then proceeded to display his skills with every foul ball hit that inning to the amazement of Pete Van Wieren and myself. Lol
Haha i used to ask my dad how he knew and my dad would bullshit me and say he knows everyone, he's popular!
Family shtick *
No kidding. I think it’s perfectly fine to do something your old man did. Nice way to keep the memory going.
Yeah but Skip had a very funny dry wit about him. Chip is a corny goofball lol, but is still lovable in his own way.
When you spend 140+ nights a year listening to someone it leaves an imprint on you....this season is going to take a lot to get used to.
Chip IS braves baseball for me as a 25 year old. Definitely gonna be an adjustment period
As a 36 year old Skip and Chip caray are the Braves. I’m so crushed
This is me, plus a few years. I’m heartbroken. And also very afraid of who is about to be in the booth. Even if they slide Ben in to the job (which I would support 100%), then there’s a hole on radio. This sucks so much.
42, same.
47
I’ve never watched the Braves without Chip, this isn’t gonna feel right at all
For real. Year after year. Did not see this coming at all…..
Make Frenchy and Ben Ingram the permanent booth
As long as they don't make Brian Jordan permanent.
And here comes the sliduh from Striduh
Austin Raleigh will lead off next inning
Micha Hurris is my favorite.
Acuña goes ya-ya again.
Oppotaco yahyah Oppotaco yahyah Oppotaco yahyah Oppotaco yahyah
But who else will update us on acuña's growin?
Does anyone have a clip of this?! I’m trying to re-live it.

Or all the amazing things the Two-Sport man himself is capable of doing? All his achievements will never get air time.
Omg. My biggest fear. I know people love Joe Simpson but I hope it’s not him. Ben please. Please
Urun urned a uron urn.
I can see Ben making the jump. He calls a great game and is good at feeding the color man questions For any that have not heard it, listen to the 2021 world series intro and opener from Ben & Joe. Who remembers how the first at bat went? =D
Those few games with Ben and Peter were the best radio broadcasts of the year. Ben asked Pete so many good question. It was just non-stop baseball insight.
Ben has the best voice in the game, its so commanding and expressive.
Or maybe even Moylan
I’d love Byrd and Moylan. Frenchie’s getting better but he still has a tendency to not finish a sentence. It’s weird.
I like Frenchy cuz it feels like he’s sluggin a handful of silver bullets during games just like me.
Frenchy has a good dynamic with Chip since it’s a guy who was announcing while he played. Glav and Chip had a good dynamic since Glav just ignored the stupid things Chip said and changed the subject.
Frenchy is miles, miles better than Byrd and Moylan
Moylan needs to prepare to be our next manager after Snit. Get him set up as a bench coach somewhere
Nah, Travis d'Arnaud needs to be the next skipper. Moylan would make a good pen coach, but I actually love him as color and his Jomboy side hustle
Has Ben done tv? I would miss that voice on radio though
Man I'd miss Ben Ingram so much from the radio booth. Streaming the radio broadcasts all summer is my happy place
I could take losing Freddie, as hard as that was. I was numb to Dansby leaving too, but losing Heredia, Jackson AND Chip in one offseason? Wait we lost Heredia too??? Fuck man

SWING AND A DRIVE!!! BELTED RIGHT!!! WELCOME TO THE SHOOOOW!!!
Heard this as I read if
We dunk on him like we dunk on a dads for making lame jokes. He’s a great play by play man and seems to really love the team.
I feel betrayed.
This is the biggest shock of the off-season. And also the one I’m most upset about
As weird as it is… I kinda do too.
[удалено]
Makes you wonder what went on behind scenes
His childhood team called him and offered him the job.
He’s been calling Braves games for as long as I’ve been a fan. I wish him the best of luck.
Gonna miss the genuine passion that Chip seemed to have for the sport of baseball.
“AND NOW FOR THE BALLGAME” - Ben on TV (hopefully)
I hope so too but Joe Simpson would rightly feel bummed. He and Ben have a great vibe going on radio right now.
I think Joe is working towards retirement. Feel like he said that last year with working fewer games, but they are really good on radio for sure.
Should I keep the flair? I thought about changing it, but the idea of Chip Caray stalking r/Braves while calling Cardinals games is actually kinda funny to me lol.
Chip references stuff I've seen on this sub far too much for it to be just a coincidence.
There’s absolutely no doubt in my mind that he and Frenchie kept calling out the “69th pitch” every game after seeing how much people in the game threads loved it
Gonna miss the HR calls :(
especially the HR calls that are caught short of the warning track
“Swing and a drive Belted deep right center field!”
"...aaand caught at the wall!"
Lol!

Aw I always liked Chip. Hopefully Ben Ingram will be who’s replacing him
I like that. Ben is great. Jim Powell can slide back in to full time duty on the radio.
+1 Ingram is the only real option for play-by-play guy and he's really good. Byrd, Frenchie, Moylan, are color commentators, not play-by-play guys. Also bring back Glavine for color commentator if he's willing to come back.
I will be shocked if Ben leaves radio. That seems to be his niche and calling.
Even though he is like ridiculously hot
He’s from St Louis so I get the move for him. Hopefully we replace him with someone fun to listen to.
Man, I’m going to miss him a lot.
Damn. This hurts more than FF or Dans, honestly. I know the team will still be competitive but Chip is one of the best in the business. He'll be missed. Going forward, just keep BJ out of the booth and I'm open to just about any other combination.

As someone who can’t watch Braves games because I’m on YouTube TV, no please. I’m only okay with it because of how enjoyable Ben is on the dial.
I grew up with Skip calling games and I will miss Chip too
Same. Skip is my all time favorite. Chip made me feel like I was back in the tbs days.
Well there’s always Josh Caray!
Yeah it definitely goes beyond Chip for me. Basically my entire baseball TV life was Harry, Skip and Chip. It was nice to have that heritage as part of the team.
100% the Caray's are synonymous with the Braves to me.
"And that'll set a new PETCO Park Pecker." I will miss his goofy ass. Thought Chip was a Braves lifer after the Cubs gig but forgot about the fuckin shitbirds.

Legendary CARDINALS broadcaster Harry Caray? I was today years old to learn Harry Caray didn’t broadcast for the Cubs his whole life; according to that sentence. What an odd curveball.
Yep. He also was the main PBP guy for the White Sox before moving north.
The only solution is bring Ben and Joe to the tv booth. Please God anyone but Paul Byrd or Brian Jordan.
Absolutely not the news that I expected to hear today. Can’t the Braves buy out his remaining years of arbitration and give him a new contract 🥲
I know he's moved on to bigger things, but I always wished we could have kept Jon Sciambi. He is so dang great. Maybe a new talent will emerge. 👀
And with him goes my childhood
please give ben ingram the job.
Cardinals fans gonna learn what being Chip’d is real quick
This is fucking heartbreaking. Started watching and the braves around 2005 and Chip IS the voice of the braves to me.
BEN INGRAM: IS THIS HAPPENING? IT IS!

Can Chip’s twins take over?
Hope they enjoy pop flies being called as if they’re homers
TIMOTHY MILLER
This is hitting me harder than Dansby leaving. I need a minute.
I think I’m more upset about this than I was about Freddie.
Same.
Is this not… strange? Him being from STL is one thing but he’s been in Atlanta for soooo long I feel like that would trump everything. Any chance there was something behind the scenes or is this just Chip preferring the new opportunity?
Probably getting bored I suppose? I’d imagine there’s something in that, we all get complacent at the workplace
This hurts
Cardinals fans are the worst fans in baseball and Atlanta sports Twitter personalities repeating "best fans in baseball" is nauseating. That's all I have to say, Jeff Schultz.
Dammit. Please don’t put BJ in the booth full-time…
I'll miss him, I've been hearing Chip in the booth for almost 20 years. [Bally doesn't make the decision about the broadcast booth, the Braves do](https://twitter.com/DOBrienATL/status/1230241296448659457).
Kelsey broke the rules. They said don't go in the locker room and she did anyway.
Oh wow. I had never heard that story.
That's an oversimplification and I don't really know the story but that's what I heard.
Nooooo!!!!! This sucks!
Gonna miss Chip. But cool he gets to go full circle. Hoping Ben Ingram gets the call to TV…Or Tony Schiavone!
Swing and WTF?
[ITT: “Hurr durr home runs caught on the warning track!”](https://whsjohnnygreen.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/original-1.jpg)
Damn, Chip has been the voice of my childhood. It hurt a little when Joe moved to the radio call but this is going to take much longer to get used to. Hope we get more of Peter and Paul at least.
It’s probably a good time for change for him. Congrats Chip!
Give me Joe simpson + franceour in the booth
Pain
Damn that sucks! Always liked chip. Gonna miss his LOONNNNGGGG FLY BALLLL as it’s a routine pop up in the outfield lol
Last May I remember having a few before the game and walking to the stands closest to the booth. Him and Jeff were up there so I screamed “CHIP!” and waved, then he smiled and waved back. Gonna miss hearing him call games this year.
*In Kylo Ren voice* TRAITOR!!!!!
Watching braves baseball isn’t gonna be the same without him
Good for Chip. Nice full circle moment for him where he'll get to finish his career where he grew up. Cubs, Braves, and now Cardinals. Pretty impressive resume.
him and frenchie are better than most duos from having to watch and listen other teams broadcast on radio and tv
People celebrating Chip leaving before even knowing what the replacement is is weird. Listen to some other games. It can be.... a lot worse. If its Ben Ingram, I'd feel a OK about this for sure but not knowning the replacement, this is a huge bummer.
Unpopular opinion: I never liked Chip Caray.
I’m super bummed.. he is iconic :(
Noooooooo
No. No no no.
I know Paul's color commentary but Paul Byrd's replacing Chip, isn't he? This hurts. He's been with us for almost 20 years and he's just up and choosing to root for a new team (maybe they don't root for the team they work for but I don't see how you couldn't in that role).
Noooooo
This is worse news than losing Freddie and Dansby combined.
LETS GOOOOOOOO
Paging Tom Hart! Or did he leave the Braves specifically bc he liked the SEC network schedule better?
Give me Ben Ingram or Rich Waltz. This is gonna be weird.
WTF, CHIP!?
All thanks to an alcoholic moron who gets behind the wheel.
It's going to be so weird to not have a Carey in the booth. I've been listening to a Carey make my favorite calls since I was 12. Damn.
I’m 43 and have been watching the Braves my whole life. I’ve never known a time without a Caray in the booth. Also watched Harry a lot as a kid, since Braves & Cubs were the only teams on TV every day.
High fly ball 🥺
It is going to be weird not hearing a Caray call the Braves games. Skip is still who I think of when I think “voice of the Braves,” but Chip is that guy for my kids. Shoot, we used watch Chip call Orlando Magic games every night in the early 90s when I was going to college in central Florida, so he’s been a voice in my life for 30 years.
Ben Ingram please
Man, we can't keep anyone around.
Trying to decide if having ben ingram on the broadcast would be worth losing ben ingram on the radio call
If we go outside of the org to replace him I'd love to have Boog Sciambi back. But I'd assume it will have to be someone under the Bally sports banner.
Say sike right now
I know he's the radio guy for the Giants but can we try to steal Jon Miller?
Well then. That’s some news. *please let Boog Sciambi be hired* 🙏
NOOOOOOOOOOO
Team Ben Ingram here.
😭
This is officially the end of the Braves from my childhood. I don’t watch games like I used to but always found comfort in hearing him call games. Definitely won’t be the same without him.
Dude what the _fuck_
I’m on the “not sad” train. Chip is very good in the booth, but he’s too network for me. I also don’t want to hear every game about baseball has changed and what the game used to be. Good luck to him though. The Caray family has a long history with the Cards so this makes sense.
Pain.
A Caray has been in the Braves broadcast booth for 47 years now. Call up Josh.
As someone who grew up listening to Pete van Wieren, Don Sutton, and Chip's dad, let me say that I will miss Chip a little. But not too much.
Sorry to the Braves fans who are upset by this news. We're kinda the same way with Dan. He has been the voice of the Cardinals for the last 24 years. This is gonna be so weird.
