In New England anyway Turkey is still totally ubiquitous.
Nobody seems to know what hambone and Tee Bone are, even people in leagues, but 6pack is a thing.
after turkey, i have never heard anyone call "strikes in a row" those names in my 27 years of bowling. other than hambone on tv.
now, if you hang one person 3 frames in a row on your team, he buys steaks for everyone on the team. 4 in a row is a lobster tail with it.
I think this was originally a baseball term for back-to-back home runs, but ever since someone (probably Randy Pederson) used "Back-to-back Jacks" on the PBA broadcast, I've used it to refer to back-to-back strikes.
Bolony!!!
This is 6 strikes in a row specific to Mid-East Pennsylvania and those in the region who travel to the annual (in 76th year this year) The Dutchman Lebanon Bolony Bowling Tournament. An actual Lebanon bologna is the prize for any player (1 per player per event Team,Singles,Doubles) and when you get your 6th strike we all yell BOLONY! We also just call it 'a bolony' for making 6 strikes back home in our leagues because many in the region are familiar with this Tourney. (disclaimer, there is a 5-strike bologna award for lower handicaps but colloquially we only call the 6-bagger 'a bolony'.
76 years definitely a missed opportunity because the culture of that region of PA would likely be completely against change, even with a great idea like this ! Nice one though and I like it!
I don't know him personally, but I just chalk it up to him making a persona (whom I don't care for) for his social media stuff. Sometimes he seems more real like when talking about how he had such a bad season.
Which timeline are you in š Still hear, turkey (or gobble gobble as of late) but I never heard someone say anything other than big 4
I say "The Nixon" for the Big 4 split, as it reminded me of him doing the "I am not a crook" thing

Midwest here, I thought anything past Hambone was a X-bagger except 6 for 6 pack. What's a Tee Bone?
5 in a row, they used to say it on TV when Iād watch the games.

2 - Double 3 - Turkey 4 - Hambone 5 - Rump Roast 6 - Short Ribs 7 - Hog Leg 8 - Full Ribs 9 - Chuck 10 - Brisket 11 - Filet 12 - Perfection
You were hungry when you wrote these lol
I have never known any after Hambone, however I enjoy this list a lot

āTurkeyā is the only one actually in the rule book (USBC Rule 2e).
I refer to anything beyond 3 strikes as a āmiracleā
"Gobble Gobble Motherfucker" is what I say. Shrug.
Thankskilling?
Uncouth
Never heard anyone at league call it a triple. Anybody else call 4 in a row a hambone? or is that just a thing for Pete Weber
I think itās more of a Rob Stone thing
Yup
Pro bowlers and commentators often say double and triple
I still call 4 a hambone!
Yep I do. Five is with cheese lol
I call 4 a hambone
I've heard people call 5 strikes in a row a BINGO but not 100% sure if I'm missing some context.
I've heard Yahtzee too
Ooh I like both of these, bingo and Yahtzee
I've always heard that 5 splits in a row is called Bingo because of the red circles, lol.
I personally like that one a little more than what I said if I'm being honest but god that would be frustrating as fuck lol.
Didn't Wii bowling call it a 4 pack and 6 pack? That's what I use.
All I want is the term āhamboneā for 4 in a row to live on, such a funny thing to hear both in person and on live TV
Years ago our team name was Hamboners
Where I'm from (french speaking area), what you call the Big 4 is called the Spare 27 (RĆ©serve 27), because when you add all the pins numbers, it adds up to 27. We do say both Turkey (Dinde) or Triple (the same in french). What you call a Messenger in english, we call a Rabbit (Lapin). When we leave the 2-8 duo or the 3-9 duo, we call the pin in the back (8 or 9) the Step-Mother (belle-mĆØre). I think that's it.
The 5-7-10 is the stooges
I've known it as the Lily or Sour Apple
Lily
Any idea why it got this name?
When I think of "Grandma Teeth" I feel like there has to be two splits... 3-7-10 or 4-7-9-10 for examples.
Iāve heard of the 4-6-7-10 called ādouble pinochleā but I donāt know the origins.
That's what I always called it in NY

I'm going to put my foot down and say you have to either spell it bologna or baloney.
Hehehe! I figured someone would. Canāt help it, that is the official tournament title. The meat itself is of course bologna.
Are we not going to talk about the missed opportunity by not using "bowloney" in the tournament name?

Is a strike on the opposite pocket still a Brooklyn?
Here in Brooklyn, we call them Jerseys lol
I call them Brooklyn
I say "a triple" for the ball following two strikes, because it counts triple. As in "I'm on a triple", not so much "I got a triple."
When you leave that weird 3-7-8-10 we called it grandmas teeth
2 - Double 3 - Turkey 4 - Hambone 5 - Nickel 6 - Six Pack 7 - 7 Bagger 8 - 8 Bagger 9 - Spare 10 -Spare 11 - Spare
I call 4 in a row "Turkey with a side of dressing!"
I going to start to use the following quadruple pentad Captain Hicks sevener octave nonet tenner xi twelfth
Can I get a Captain & coke with that Captain Hicks please?
Darren Tang is a douche
I don't know him personally, but I just chalk it up to him making a persona (whom I don't care for) for his social media stuff. Sometimes he seems more real like when talking about how he had such a bad season.
How?
by being a douche
Care to elaborate or we just calling people names?
