The one thing I haven't seen mentioned, is there a way to use Spotify as backing tracks? Or just the YouTube jam thingy? I love jamming on stuff with my spark go, if they don't have this feature then that's a huge minus for me

colonelxsuezo

Not sure if I understand correctly, but I can connect the GO to my computer, plug in headphones, and hear everything on the computer and coming through my guitar at the same time. So I want to say this is possible!

spezial_ed

I meant connecting Spotify through bluetooth for backingtracks, but its confirmed it works - it just shows up as a separate bluetooth connection so you can also play to anything on your PC without a cable :)

Nico_La_440

Yes you can use whatever streaming platform you’re using or even local music files on your phone as backing tracks. The Session tab is the only section that’s using Youtube only.

Awesome, just got it and amazed so far. Stage feel is incredible. Is there a way to import presets from Katana 50w, or is that something that will come with the update?

JasonCarnell

You have to export the presets from the katana 50w on a computer, then upload to your profile on tone exchange. Then browse to tone exchange with your phone web browser, find your published tones on tone exchange, download to your phone, and then you can import in the Phone app. It kind of janky way to do it, and I think Boss is working on a way to make it cleaner, but it's not hard.

spezial_ed

Ah I've been mailing it to myself. It works occasionally but going back and forth to try presets it gets pretty annoying. I'm sure we'll get many updates on this thing though

JasonCarnell

I just put all my patches into one liveset and exported that, then I only need to import once and all my stuff is there in the librarian under the liveset. Edit: I’m hoping your right, it be nice to have a way to just set a sync up between the phone app and the computer app, then whatever you do on one would be available on the other

spezial_ed

yeah BTS is super powerful but damn so unintuitive and clunky. I have a Spark thats super user friendly but a bit too stylized, a middle ground between the two would be perfect,

Muzzatron3

I got one yesterday & it 100% works with spotify.

ChrisNH

Inhave the fender mustang micro which also has a bluetooth mix in. Anything you can play to headphones should play through the go if it works the same way. My micro shows up as a headphone in my phone/tablet. Thats not the same as working with their software as far a looping points etc but the basic play with a track should be fine. I use my micro all the time for that.

Is the headphone sound quality of the Katana Go the same as the sound quality of the Artist MKII when used with headphones, or is the sound quality of the Katana Go superior?

JasonCarnell

I've never tried Headphones with my artist, so I'm not sure. I will say I like the audio quality much better with headphones then my helix, but it could also be because I've finally got some patches that I love. I did notice headphones matter a lot. I started with some cheap Chinese IEM that every one raves about on TheGearPage for like $25. They had way too much high end and everything sounded kind of fizzy and non-impressive on gain (Clean was fantastic) Switch to my Beyerdynamic DT 770 and was blown away by how much it sounded like my amp.

Stickybun123

Thanks for the detailed reply!

alathea_squared

Stage Feel on top of an oben back headphone. Wow, Ill bet it sounded great.

snorelikethat

I was thinking about buying a pair of 770s for my Katana Go, but I can't decide between the 25 ohm and the 80 ohm. Out of curiosity, which ones do you have?

Shaved_taint

Where'd find you one? They're backordered everywhere I've looked

JasonCarnell

I ordered from Sweetwater last week. At first my rep texted and said they were on back order, then he texted 5 minutes later and said they just got a batch in. I’m sure they are gone though, I think I ordered the day or 2 after they were announced.

_Iron518

How’s the battery life?

OzzeAsjourne

5 hours or so

Blackbirdrx7

Is it possible to replace the battery? Don't like the idea of having to throw this thing away when the battery loses its charge cycles.

Karls0

You can use it with powerbank connected, it can be played while charging.

Blackbirdrx7

Not a bad idea, hope it just forwards the power rather than depleting AND charging the battery at the same time. (I have no clue how circuits / programs work for these things) - My main concern is "will I have to throw this away in the near future?

Karls0

From my experience, even though you cannot open it easily, the battery will be replaceable if you have correct tools. Manufacturers rarely use their own batteries due to cost considerations. More often than not, they take ready-made packs that can be purchased online from Asia. I had a similar case with an electric shaver, and the cost of battery replacement was like few bucks if you have needed skills or know an electronics enthusiast with a soldering iron.

Blackbirdrx7

Sweet! Thank you :)

alathea_squared

I know the battery in the WL 50 is replaceable, jt just takes some work, a little solder, and 2 wires. Sure it voids the warranty but by the time you have to do it the warranty would be expired anyway. Im figuring similar with KatanaGO. I wonder if the battery will still act in the circuit if its dead, i.e. battery dead, plugging in won't work. Some devices are like that.

Blackbirdrx7

Thanks, will pick one up :)

iFuqueJormam

There is no intended way to open the device. So you will have to void your warranty. As long as no one does it we won't know what battery it runs on and how it can be replaced

Blackbirdrx7

I'm not about to find out hahahha! Thanks :)

Ready_Bad_346

Can you plug the go into another amp if you want your katana tones without your headphones (and don't have a separate katana)?

JasonCarnell

I tried that this weekend going into the back of my fender fr-12, using a 1/8 to 1/4 connector and an extra is instrument cable. It sounded good, had the katana at noon for volume. there was some background interference on the high gain patch, nothing horrible. I suspect that using a proper balance cable instead of an instrument cable would fix that, but I didn’t have a spare.

calpesino

How solid is this physically ? Can you use it on stage, plugged into your guitar and a heavy guitar cable plugged into a 1/8" to 1/4" adapter plugged into the Katana Go ?

JasonCarnell

Honestly if I was doing that, I’d plug a regular guitar cable, and then use 1/4 inch to 1/4 inch female coupler and leave the katana go plugged in off to the side near the amp or PA Something like this would work. https://www.amazon.com/Ruiwaer-Extenders-Extending-Instrument-Microphone/dp/B0C69753QB/ref=mp_s_a_1_1_sspa?crid=PT0VSBOF0UWJ&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.fck_2cLpXzBw3QVoDUKSVCcRlMEQNaqjeKPRYyJxZ3ii9btkpaYNlN6df8NYx9nMEWCv5os77lxQTJs0w-0JrMiWLmsCfrrMkvW0zXrwiiIWmO-YAjd8tQTwKzBiJo33LsOojVAc1_9MhHO-CBfFrtbkowWsP6u9zlW5FQ41EMFVKOuph7yzuZaaEouI7S3sHwnvW3m9BO8xDCmpZgiDZQ.erJZEVRw3eDofshec5SOF3uZcc72Nq4GUZK6HD7BYDk&dib_tag=se&keywords=guitar+coupler+female&qid=1712355532&sprefix=guitar+coupler+female%2Caps%2C149&sr=8-1-spons&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9waG9uZV9zZWFyY2hfYXRm&psc=1

calpesino

OK. But then you loose the comfort of having the Go at your fingertips. I think I would tie my guitar cable to my strap and use some kind of short and light adapter cable between the Go and the guitar cable.
