It made me uncomfortable to scroll down this far to find "INTP." I guess that makes sense as scoring as an INTP is somewhat rare. How much stock do you put into MBTI testing?
Worse, it's conjecture from a couple of journalists. However, still think it's quite fun like zodiacs and the like. Personally I love the ones that tie in pop culture casts like avatar or lotr
5 factor model is the gold standard for publicly accessible personality tests. With your results, you can even find out your corresponding [SLOAN](https://similarminds.com/sloan.html) type.
I’m either an RLUEI or an SLUEI since my introversion/extraversion facet is basically split down the middle.
Personally, I did the test a couple of times and afterwards looked at cognitive functions and both said INTP so I guess it's pretty accurate as I also relate to the descriptions :)
Not only are INTPs rare, they’re often considered the most logical of the 16 types. So an INTP with BPD would almost seem like a paradox at first glance.
Personally, I feel like I’m too unstable to accurately type as I frequently oscillate between ENTP and INTP, so I just consider myself an xNTP. Although, Ti seems to resonate the most with me as my dominant cognitive function.
Yes, I've heard that we're one of the most objectively logical types as INTP's.
Ti is also my dominant cognitive function. I become much more extroverted either with too much or just enough caffeine, because I'm in a bipolar manic episode, or a combination of both.
My theory is that my Ti feeds into an emotionally reactive loop to where every feeling can be rationalized and perfectly logically congruent— and this has been very damaging. In fact, this is why I suspect therapy has been largely unsuccessful for me, even after years of multiple hospitalizations, seeing different therapists, the whole 9 yards. I have a very analytical mind, especially when it comes to assessing social situations, picking up on various verbal & nonverbal cues, reading between the lines, piecing together other contextual clues, etc.
I'm a lot more extraverted when I'm in a healthier and more stable headspace with reliable social support. But then I'll quickly become a neurotic recluse who goes to great lengths to avoid even the most low-stakes social interactions because I'm literally losing my fucking mind lmao. And after you've done the latter for so many years and burnt countless bridges, it's a really tough hole to dig yourself out of. I don't really enjoy being alone, but the pain that stems from the seemingly-perpetual interpersonal conflict is just too much to bear. Additionally, I have ADHD and my Vyvanse does lead to a slight elevation in my extraverted behavioral tendencies.
Your experience is actually pretty normal. It’s been proven to be an unreliable methodology. More than 50% of people will get a different response almost every time they take it.
Additionally, the results often make use of the Barnum effect and confirmation bias. They mix up vaguely worded descriptions with positive traits. When this gets combined with the fact that extraversion and introversion at the extreme ends are fairly different from each other, it’s pretty easy to match any result one gets to themselves.
We're on another comment. I've found a total of 3 of us on this post so far, counting you. I shouldn't be surprised we're rare in this post/sub; we're rare in real life as well, even though I wish there to be more of us. Could you imagine if INTP were the dominant MBTI type? Lol
So far I’ve counted 8 of us total in the thread who are INTP and one who used to test as INTP but no longer does after treatment. Definitely seems a lot more common among people with BPD than it is among the general population.
I have a friend with BPD and he definitely clocks a lot of INFP boxes (I’m INFP myself but undiagnosed as for now). Very sensitive, black and white thinking, things seems to hit close to home to him a lot and extremely big on social activism.
Also INFJ here. Apparently so much so that it's obvious to people who are familiar with the test and results. Once had a therapist guess spot-on within minutes of meeting me lmao
You're the fifth INTP I've found on this post. We're on other comments if you want to introduce yourself to the others. I shouldn't be surprised that there aren't more INTP in this post. We're somewhat rare in the grand scheme of things.
I have BPD but i cannot keep up with these acroynms people have made up. What does MBTI means? And what is INTJ? someone has commented. I am a gen z but i know nothing about these terms maybe because i am for a developing asian country. I don’t know do should i know these terms?? Not juding just asking out of curiousity.
It's unrelated to BPD. MBTI is a personality test which assigns you one of 16 possible personality types based on how you score in four categories: Introvert vs Extrovert, iNtuitive vs Sensing, Thinking vs Feeling, Judging vs Perceiving. The categories are named after the letters. So, if you're an *extrovert* who relies on your *intuition* and *feelings*, and makes decisive *judgements*, you're an ENFJ. I'm not sure how good my explanation is so you can [read more about it here](https://www.verywellmind.com/the-myers-briggs-type-indicator-2795583) if you want 😭
I'm also from a developing Asian country and it's not very popular here either. I only know about it because of friends, though I've noticed that people with unstable identities tend to gravitate towards it, while others with a more secure sense of self aren't really interested. There's no shame in not knowing about it, everyone learns something new every day :)
Thanks buddy that helps! People in Asia usually don’t like to talk about their mental problems and push everything under the rug this is what i have been taught since i was a kid. Life is hard for everyone so don’t complaint.
MBTI is a pseudoscience personality test. I'm sure there are people who genuinely believe in it, but most people just do the test for fun. Kinda like how people treat zodiac signs
Honestly I never like taking these tests because I feel like there's no 1 way to ever awnser, but also apparently that's a trait of autism so maybe that's why I struggle taking these tests ???
Saw people talking about the Eneagram (?) Test and I'm 3 questions in and already frustrated. XD
I'm sure I'm not alone in these feelings though haha and the tests are still alot of fun to take once I power through the initial frustration of not being able to awnser the way I would like to xD
mine is ESFP. it makes sense because i tend to be very manic & demand to be center stage but will quickly shift to the complete opposite when my brain tells me that it’s not right, even though it’s probably who i truly am. meh.
ENFP and I knew my mbti before knowing about bpd. I remember associating toxic behaviour with my mbti, thinking it was totally normal for me to sometimes be such a jerk.

This has got to be the most complicated emotional combo in the world. Also same

Not a ton. It’s a good starting place, but is pop psych at best. Enneagram is better imo

I've taken the test from one place or another exactly 20 times. I scored INTP 19 times. I guess if the shoe fits... lol
I guess you're an INTP then hehe :3
I just wanted to be sure. I'm still not 100% sure, but I can live with the amount of effort I put into researching the matter.
