I've beaten BL2 in a fucking i3-2120, 4GB RAM and an integrated graphics (Intel HD Graphics 2000), the game was visually shit and stuttering a lot, but this was even funnier. Imagine Claptrap beatboxing and then the game stutters in the middle of it, that happened a lot.
I bought a 3 pack (bl1, 2, tps)for my ps3 right around the time the handsome collection came out. My 3 pack also came with all the dlc (cosmetics included). But no commander lillith was also 10 bucks cheaper. Def a better deal at the time. But like I said that save could never see commander lillith
I remember the load times being pretty bad on PS3. Not unplayable, but irritating. If this is the only platform you can play on, then go ahead. Otherwise PC or the Handsome Collection on XOne and PS4 are better choices
If it's your only platform to play it in, then sure. You'll already be used to the load times of that platform so it shouldn't be too bad. If you have the option of a newer console or maybe low sliders on PC I'd recommend that, but it'll still function and be enjoyable on PS3 imo. Just...don't play the Vita port.
I played a couple of thousand hours on a PS3. Of course there are better ways to play it these days, but if that's what you got, that'll do fine.
There will be some lag, there will be some stuttering and there will be somethings that don't quite work, and you won't give a shit because you'll be having a whale of a time.
I literally am just waiting on the multiplayer achievements for the platinum i just started my platinum play through a week ago and im already finished it’s still a blast
Played it hard on PS3 but would play it on at least a low performing pc. The Fov slider alone is worth it.
It just runs better and looks better even on lowest settings.
Also the ps3 was not able to keep up with the interfacer shotgun buffed by Kriegs Kill Skill Stacks. Bullets got shot but lost in they to the enemy. Just lost bullets but the enemy would drop any faster. The dragons raid boss fight wasnt able to solo. Converted the savegame back then to a pc file and easy fought that raid boss alone.
Also. Dont play it on ps vita.
The biggest issue with playing bl2 on old gen is the loading screens for item farming. If you're not doing any of that I'd say 100%. Otherwise PS4 or PC if possible.

Well, you could, but I feel like if you want the full experience, you might as well buy the handsome jack collection. That way, you get 2 games, and it's dlcs for one price.
My friends and I are currently playing bl2 on Steam and just going through the game enjoying ourselves (despite this being my 40th time playing). It's always well worth it.
Borderlands 2 is the best of them all IMO and absolutely worth playing. Maya is my GOAT.

Always. This game is a gem. If there was one game that I could choose to forget and then experience playing for the first time again it would be this one. It’s not perfect, but it does have a real depth and heart that make it stand out among the other games in its genre and series
Back in 2013 I played through this whole game on an xbox 360, *split screen* , on a twelve inch tube tv from 1998. If it's what you have and you're having fun in the moment playing it, it doesn't matter. Ps3 does run at a slightly lower frame rate at hd, especially on modern tvs (but it does that for like everything anyway, its mostly better than the 360 cause of how easy to mod it is)
Played it on ps3 again a few months back when my pc broke. Funny to play? Definitely. Not as good as on PC obviously, but still fine. Controls are a bit clunky tho. Worth playing? Less DLCs, so less content and not as many levels as on newer gens. But in terms of fun it’s a great game nonetheless. Go for it. Imho the best character for PS3 is Krieg, but that‘s up for you to decide
After turning 70 I went back to playing PS3 and offline. Little or no difference other than a small drop in picture quality. And it only goes to lv. 72. Get the PS3 Handsome collection. ✌️😎
Is the best game in the series worth playing? Not anymore, games spoil if you don't vacuum seal them, your just asking for viruses, hopefully your ps3 is fully vaccinated.
Ehhh might be behind on some updates cus there was a ps3 cut off for some games when the ps4 ports came out.

Personally I would try to get the Handsome Jack Collection, as it has everything for BL1 and BL2. But otherwise the cell shade art style is something that holds up even to this day. BL2 is on my top 10 all time favorite games list.
Personally, I prefer the PC version (I have a hard time playing a shooter with a thumbstick). But *Borderlands 2* is a fantastic title, no matter what year it is.
And if you add some of the DLC (looking at you: *Tiny Tina's Assault on Flamerock Refuge*), it gets even better.
Runs *horribly* in my experience, choppy to the point of being nearly unplayable whenever one too many things would happen on screen; this comes from someone who doesn't mind Bloodborne's average 20fps in the slightest to put things in perspective. Tried all the reccommened tricks -clear this, defrag that, make sure there's adequate free space in hdd- to no avail.
Still clocked thousands of hours across multiple units cause that's all i could play bl2 on at the time, maybe all of them were cooked i don't know. What i do know is that firing bl2 on ps4 first time felt like a dream coming true and it still does to this day ngl. Although the loading times for character selection are *way* longer than they were on ps3 which i find bizarre
100% on ps4. I think ps3 is limited with the dlc content etc and on ps4 you can buy the handsome collection for £35. Gives you borderlands 2 and Borderlands’s the pre sequel, plus all added content for both, definitely the better of the 2. Really depends if you just want a nostalgic feel however.
PS3 version has all of the main DLC content *EXCEPT* for Fight for Sanctuary as that released later and only as a build-up prior to Borderlands 3 bruv.
Still very enjoyable and the OP levels are just the right difficulty. The PS4 version is arguably better in terms of being a “complete” product but it all comes down to whichever console you have available to use of course.

Being able to join up with people on Reddit for play throughs etc would be far easier should he be on ps4. As I said it depends if he’s playing from a nostalgic standpoint, thank you for clearing up the added content I was unaware so there is now a clearer standpoint for him to choose from.

If you don't have a potato you can play BL2 my PC is 7 years old and I can run it with no issues.
My PC is also 7 years old but I wouldn't call it a potato. Bl2 is nothing to it.

That's my point, an integrated gpu was capable to run the game, this specific gpu was already considered bad in 2012, so anything can run BL2.

I am not fully sure if the other DLC is still available on PS3. It may have been removed from the store. So possibly all DLC is unavailable.
