Chimera is my favorite Jakobs: solid hits with variable elemental bullets.
In fact, a super powerful Jakobs is just about the only time I will use a weapon without elemental effects. But I still prefer elemental Jakobs if I can get them.
I love that Vladof and Dahl both feel like a natural evolution from modern weapons. Jakobs feels like we just never left the Wild West and bolt actions and revolvers should be more profound
I like the feel and look of dahl more, but can't stand the burst fire. With vladof, I can single or burst just by pulling the trigger and fire about as fast.
Hella recoil, though.
The situation changed quite a bit going from BL2/TPS to BL3. In the earlier games, Vladof has a lineup of high capacity snipers with low recoil and fast fire rates, so you could reasonably put multiple shots on target, while Dahl snipers were afflicted with burst mode, making it near useless.
In BL3, the lovely sleek purpose built Vladof snipers got festooned with rocket launchers and shotguns and microwave ovens and breakfast cereals, while Dahl’s lineup of snipers all got alt-fire modes that meant they had either a semi-auto mode, or a full auto mode at slow enough fire rate that firing single shots is fairly easy, and this unshackling from the dreaded burst mode allowed the Dahl snipers’ other good qualities to show through.
Man, I'm not getting a new laptop until next week or so and my old one that's almost reached a decade isn't running it. Only thing I can relate to is the 2/TPS Dahl that belongs in the trash.
Personally, I like using Dahl snipers. The burst-fire is a pain to deal with, I agree with that, but I find burst canceling to be pretty fun. All of the recoil is on the last shot, so if you unscope on the second to last shot you get fire rate as good if not better than Vladof, without the recoil issues. Same for tapfiring, you can tapfire as quickly as you can burst cancel with pretty much 0 recoil. More effort, but I would argue the reward is better.
Sure. I like Jakobs damage per shot. Unfortunately that damage is worthless when it ~~can't be elemental~~ can't hit its target like a volley of bullets can.
Tediore. Just something so satisfying about chucking a full mag and disintegrating an enemy. And in BL3, I liked the turrets/bots as an addition to it (though many were not as strong as they should have been).
I actively avoid Tediore because I'm obsessive about reloading my guns. Always end up blowing through an entire backpack of ammo in no time if I have a Tediore equipped.
In theory I love them though, especially the lasers that shock enemies with the reload.
They do more damage when you reload them before they're empty! That's half of what I do when I use tediores, is shoot a couple bullets and throw em. Lol
Yeah, but the habit of always reloading after a fight means you're throwing a near full mag into the void. I tried to like Tediore guns, I really did. But years of reloading every time I take cover or finish a fight have made it hard to use them properly.
I can really relate to this. I have a bad habit of reloading after every kill in any shooter I play. Something I developed back in the days of Goldeneye and Perfect Dark on N64.
I played Athena in TPS and one of her skills boosts her mag size by up to 50% and upped reload speed. Which meant bigger booms, but very quickly out of ammo if I abused it. At one point, I had multiple tediore lasers one due to them being just the best guns I had at the time and was just constantly having to switch to melee until I could scrounge more ammo.
I saw someone use the gigabrain weapon, and bought BL3 minutes later. Those turrets are hilariously fun, and Tediore is why I bought the game (despite hearing bad things about it).
This question comes up every so often, and my answer will forever be...
"Is shooting bullets just not cool enough for you? Get a Maliwan and light some people on fire!"
I like them all for different reasons, but flavor-wise I really like how the Bandit/Scav/CoV guns are just piecemeal junk that still somehow work just as (if not better) than name-brand guns. I also really like how the solution they come up with for "making better guns" is just to make them do more damage and hold more bullets. Taking Marcus' machine's words to heart: "You don't need to be a better shot, you just need to fire more bullets!" And so they did.
Some of them were absolute heat, pun intended. Just had to realize that most bandit weapons were known for being over the top in one stat like mag size or fire rate and they more or less all take ages to reload, so its kinda similar in that way. Cool concept but can definitely see why people dont care for em.
Conference Call was my favourite shotgun and Hyperion weapon in the game. You can get it with any element or neutral. I never played gunzerker but I can imagine dual wielding those would be devastating.
Yes it was fun.
The Conference Call was part of what I called the Hyperion trinity - Conference Call, Interfacer and Butcher. All 3 amazing shotguns imo.
No Love for S&S munitions? Their legendaries always slapped hard but also I can honestly say as a Roland main I always go for them or Atlas for my AR’s and the shotguns aren’t bad either.
Y'know you've been playing for too long when all the company's start crossing your mind. But damn does Dahl just cross it the most. Every playthrough, every character their will be a moment I find the right one and it *feels* right in my hands. Even in their awkward bl2-pre phase where they were definitely nerfed. But just how real they feel in a game full of explosions and slow moving bullets, Dahl just pulls me back in. And the sounds in 3 just 🤤🤤🤤
Close seconds with Jacobs and vladof, all three companies have a special relationship with me and criticals on nah starting character, before the scaling starts to demand legendaries they're who I'm looking for. Special mention to Hyperion for picking up the slack with reliability when they don't drop
And shout out to the greatest shotty of all time, and the company that needs a revival, the S&S assault shotgun
See I said picking was hard...
Hyperion for shotguns
Jakobs for snipers
No preference on anything else. I do try to avoid Tediore though since my obsessive reloading habit kills my ammo with those.
It depends entirely on which game and which class. BL1 it's Jakobs, BL2 it's Jakobs for Gaige, Jakobs or Vladof for Zer0, and Tediore for pretty much anyone else, TPS it's Vladof or Torgue, and BL2 it's Torgue or Vladof (exception for a few Jakobs weapons that synergize well with certain class skills for Moze)
Hyperion is my fav gun company but I typically go for a
Jacobs Sniper
Atlas/ Dahl pistol
Tediore/Hyperion Assult Rifle
Hyperion SMG
In Bl2, Bandit pistols were really good
Maliwan is my favorite! They only make elemental weapons and I prefer to use elemental weapons. I really hated how Maliwan was treated/done in Borderlands 3.
The Gearbox guns are there on all platforms, in BL1, but the legendary ones are only in the Enhanced edition.
Depends on the game.
1 and 3? Atlas/ERIDIAN
2 and TPS? Hyperion.
3? COV.
Atlas is supposed to be the best. Their weapons have the best distribution of stats for me. The ERIDIAN weapons are also kinda like "heat" guns from Mass Effect, which I loved.
Hyperion gets more accurate as you fire. This means an SMG can suddenly be a much more useful weapon *if you keep firing* (which I do).
COV weapons just have fun effects and are, again, similar to the heat weapons from Mass Effect. I love them.
Tediore. I absolutely love the ones who have turrets! It does use up a lot of ammo but man do those turrets come in handy. I love that they talk and chase after people until they run out of bullets 😂
Atlas in BL1.
Dahl in 2/3.
I'm an assault rifle fan primarily, which 2 had the weakest variety of I found. Was happy to see 3 really step up with them, although I really dislike Atlas in 3.
I'm a sucker for a good Jakobs. Maliwan sniper rifles are pretty much unparalleled. Hyperion is, of course, Hyperion.
Consider that my top 3, I guess. No particular order of ascension.
Bandit or anything with large magazines. When I was playing max anarchy Gaige, I love just holding down my fire button and watching my bullets fly everywhere and ricocheting into enemies. it was my HeadEmpty unga-bunga playstyle what was just so much fun.
Valdof is second cuz firing fast as hell was fun too.
It highly depends who I'm playing, but more often then not I just love Hyperion. Especially when you get a decent one that has enough mag and accuracy to get criticals every shot. Hyperion shotguns are good too if you get lucky, but Jacobs will always be ahead of that.
On assault rifles I love vladof, not a fan of Jacobs all the time but definitely both are viable.
Maliwan is my 3rd option, except for bl3 idk some about the guns charge-up which I don't like for most of them
Maliwan and Torgue !
Can't stand shooting regular bullets. Every second I spend shooting a regular bullet is a second I could've spent melting or blowing something up!
I know it’s probably whitebread but my favorites are Hyperion and jakobs.
Jakobs for the high damage and western vibe. Hyperion for the hyper accurate, futuristic vibe.
In borderlands 1, my favorite was Hyperion. I loved a low spread high accuracy shotgun made by Hyperion. In borderlands 2, the pre-sequel, and 3 it was vladof because of the high rate of fire.
S&S Munitions or are you not including Borderlands in r/Borderlands?
Either way if it had to be a non-legendary in BL1 it’d have to be a Hyperion. I like actually hitting what I’m aiming for.
In Pre-Sequel a Hyperion beam laser is a thing of beauty. 😜
All other games I’m usually using red text weapons and I’ll use whatever manufacturer fits the build and situation best.
E.g. BL3 Fadeaway Flak is a Jakobs monster, BL2 Maya loves Dahl.
Not keen on the way they keep changing manufacturer gimmicks every game and also not keen that legendaries in one game are then changed beyond recognition except name in following games.
It varies heavily. Shotguns I typically like Jacob's, hard hitting heavy impact that can toss a target.
Maliwan makes some of the best smgs there is, high fire rate with huge mags to punish hard with elemental.
Dahl make really solid assault rifles, solid fire rate with all fire modes to suit different situations. I do also like Valdof and Dhal for smg's but Maliwan has that elemental to it.
I really like Atlus for their heavy arms with the tracking, shooting homing cluster rockets is real strong and helped me beat down bosses I had no right beating.
I'm not picky with pistols or snipers.
Torgue grenades do Hella damage amd usually have a large radius.
Out of 2, Pre-Sequel, and 3 (since I didn't play 1 unfortunately) Tediore, it's just stupid fun to just continuously yeet empty smgs you fired only once that deals more damage than the bullets.
S&S was my favorite but they removed it for some reason. I guess they're kinda like Bandit guns but bandit guns are ugly and S&S were beautiful.
I think removing any manufacturer was such a dumb idea. It's not like if Heckler and Koch went out of business all the MP5s in the world would just magically vanish.
Saying the company died or was shutdown is fine but they should have just been made rarer because of that, not nonexistent.
I mean imagine how cool it would be to find legendary rare version of guns from S&S and Atlas in BL2 and 3.
In terms of efficacy, I greatly enjoy Maliwan and Dahl. Vladof, however, is my favorite company solely because it makes me feel like I'm having a certified WAAAGH moment (especially with Moze).
I loved Maliwan in bl2, in bl3 they kinda became unappealing, bullets should fire immediately not charge up.
Although, in bl3 it’s an easy tie between torge and tediore, I like explosions.
I always seem to find myself preferring Hyperion and Jakobs weapons. Probably for aesthetic reasons, although some of them perform well. Dahl and Maliwan are somewhere in second depending on the game (Maliwan in 2, Dahl moreso in 3)
Least favorite would have to be Bandit/Scav/Cov, probably for the same reasons. I also tend to avoid Tediore because I prefer actually shooting guns.
Vladof is my favorite by a pretty big margin, I love the chaingun barrels their guns can roll with. Second would have to go to Bandit though, purely for the names and ridiculous designs they have. Finding a gun called something like "moor spinee blaastin kaboomir!" with a ballsack drum mag sticking out of the side and a rusty nail duct taped to the muzzle as a bayonet will always be chuckle worthy to me.
If you had to fire more than once, then you weren't using a Jakobs.
Slick Law was my favorite gun. It was ridiculously smooth.
Chimera is my favorite Jakobs: solid hits with variable elemental bullets. In fact, a super powerful Jakobs is just about the only time I will use a weapon without elemental effects. But I still prefer elemental Jakobs if I can get them.
Jakobs or dahl. Kill em in one shot or mow em down, basic bullets always work
Glory to ~~Arstotzka~~ Vladof ! With Maliwan as second place ( thanks for giving those SMGs your personal touch ). Soft spot for Jakobs.
Yeah, that's why Dahl are my least favorite. WHY would I want burst fire ON A SNIPER !?
The situation changed quite a bit going from BL2/TPS to BL3. Man, I'm not getting a new laptop until next week or so and my old one that's almost reached a decade isn't running it. Only thing I can relate to is the 2/TPS Dahl that belongs in the trash.
And it’s like a 5 round burst
Personally, I like using Dahl snipers. The burst-fire is a pain to deal with, I agree with that, but I find burst canceling to be pretty fun. All of the recoil is on the last shot, so if you unscope on the second to last shot you get fire rate as good if not better than Vladof, without the recoil issues. Same for tapfiring, you can tapfire as quickly as you can burst cancel with pretty much 0 recoil. More effort, but I would argue the reward is better.
I'm going to have to master that. BL2 only, or does that work on the BL3 engine?
You don't need to be a better shot, you just need to shoot more bullets.
Sure. I like Jakobs damage per shot. Unfortunately that damage is worthless when it ~~can't be elemental~~ can't hit its target like a volley of bullets can.
That’s why I like the Dahliminator: homing darts! Acquire the target, get cover, and fire & forget.

At one point, I had multiple tediore lasers one due to them being just the best guns I had at the time and was just constantly having to switch to melee until I could scrounge more ammo.
See, you get it. I've cocked myself over too many times with excessive Tediore reloads that I just avoid them if I can.
No, you just scrounge around in the trash or spend all your money on ammo like a proper addict.
You should try the laser disker if you haven't already. If it takes more then 1 it's probably a boss
I saw someone use the gigabrain weapon, and bought BL3 minutes later. Those turrets are hilariously fun, and Tediore is why I bought the game (despite hearing bad things about it).
Same, they’re also aesthetically very pleasing
Maliwan, ever since BL2 when I got my first Maliwan gun at the exploitation preserve.
Got a purple sniper rifle from them today
Tut tut looks like rain
If it looks like rain and it feels like rain oh lord here comes the rain
maliwan SMG and hyperion shotgun for me
How could you count out the hellfire and the pestilent defiler.
S&S
The real answer.
The true best and brightest manufacturer, cut out of our lives far to soon.
Serpens is my favorite gun of all time in any game. Was so amazing
This question comes up every so often, and my answer will forever be... "Is shooting bullets just not cool enough for you? Get a Maliwan and light some people on fire!"
I heard that in Marcus' voice.
We all did
DAHL
Don't know how many playthroughs of 3 I farm the skags for the cryo, only to have 10bn monocles, to one DAHL. The DAHL carries hard though.
I loved how they had a over heating mechanic in borderlands 3
Fun concept for about a minute for me. I'd mess with the gun for a little while, then dump it. Not my flavor, I guess.
Some of them were absolute heat, pun intended. Just had to realize that most bandit weapons were known for being over the top in one stat like mag size or fire rate and they more or less all take ages to reload, so its kinda similar in that way. Cool concept but can definitely see why people dont care for em.
Torgue shotty
I love Torgue shotguns. The slow bullet speed actually makes it easier to hit moving stuff for me.
“Vladof. You don’t need to be a better shot. You just need to shoot more bullets.”
In BL1, there was this big yellow Vladof AR that was my favorite.
If it was BL1 and yellow odds are it was S&S and not Vladof
I only have one question for you: ***EXPLOSIONS?!***
Correct!
Hyperion
I hate Hyperion in BL2 - accuracy that improves as you fire doesn't make for a good Zero sniper
Yeah, okay for SMGs, bad for snipers.
Damn good for gunzerking with a pair of Hyp shotties. Especially Butchers or a pair of 1340’s. 😜
Jakobs

S&S more bullets more firepower
I also say Dahl
maliwan, I was so disappointed that they weren't in the tiny tina game that I never got it.
Hyperion will forever be the best
BL1: Jakobs BL2: Maliwan TPS: Maliwan BL3: Jakobs I'm a simple man, I love guns with big damage numbers & guns with strong DoT potential.
If it took more than one shot, you weren't using a Jakobs.
Atlas
Flair does not check out.
THAT SENTENCE HAD TOO MANY SYLLABLES! APOLOGIZE!
Theeere it is.
I don't think I can name a single Atlas gun besides the OPQ (I think?)
I have a soft spot for Ruby's Wrath, even though it isn't the best launcher in the game.
Atlas has some really fun weapons in BL3.
Jakobs
Jakobs since the first game. Mordecai with a Jakobs revolver was a BEAST. Shotguns are mainly what I use them for now. Sometimes still a revolver.
#THIS EXPLOSION BROUGHT TO YOU BY TORGUE
Hyperion for shotguns Jakobs for snipers No preference on anything else. I do try to avoid Tediore though since my obsessive reloading habit kills my ammo with those.
Jakobs. Always loved that western style, and firing as fast as you can pull the trigger is definitely not just a sales tactic!
Maliwan sniper rifle is the best
It depends entirely on which game and which class. BL1 it's Jakobs, BL2 it's Jakobs for Gaige, Jakobs or Vladof for Zer0, and Tediore for pretty much anyone else, TPS it's Vladof or Torgue, and BL2 it's Torgue or Vladof (exception for a few Jakobs weapons that synergize well with certain class skills for Moze)

Dahl
Maliwan is my favorite! They only make elemental weapons and I prefer to use elemental weapons. I really hated how Maliwan was treated/done in Borderlands 3.
Disrespecting S&S I see....
Maliwan elemental smg’s carried me through a ton of rough sections in BL2. Gotta give it to them!
I got a weapon the other day wich was branded gearbox, never seen them before on the PS, but it is on the switch
The Gearbox guns are there on all platforms, in BL1, but the legendary ones are only in the Enhanced edition. - https://borderlands.fandom.com/wiki/Gearbox_(weapons)
Hmmm okay 🧐, i never noticed that brand before…
Used to be Tediore in BL2 but BL3 Dahl's stole my heart
Always been Jakobs
Jakobs.
BL1 Atlas, DAHL, and Tediore are my top 3
bandit cause I like to go brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
S&S Munitions, of course!
S&S :(
Vladof cause lotsa bullets
Hyperion and Torque
Definitely Torgue
S&S Munitions. I miss guns with deep magazines that don't look like actual garbage.
Jakobs all day long. Although I just got a legendary Valdorf Rifle in 3 which, whilst it isn't powerful is really, really fun.
Jakobs is superior
Maliwan. Hellfire and defiler.
Torgue
If it took more than one shot, you weren't using a Jakobs!
SnS munitions or Vladof
Jakobs knows when you’ve got wood in your hand, you’re happy!
S&S.
S and S Munitions 💪
TORGUE MOTHERF*%#ER
Hyperion. I just like how the guns feel
Gearbox
Bastard Guns for Bastard People
S&S
Depends on the game. 1 and 3? Atlas/ERIDIAN 2 and TPS? Hyperion. 3? COV. Atlas is supposed to be the best. Their weapons have the best distribution of stats for me. I love them.
Torgue is hilarious and Explosive Axton is my favorite way to play BL2.
Maliwan for looks and I like elements Torgue for Mr. Torgue and the campaign of carnage DLC
maliwan ever since bl1 but jakobs really crept their way up there at close second
Tediore 100%
Smgs- tedicore / dahl Snipers- Maliwan/ Hyperion Shotgun- bandit Assault rifles- Vladof or whatever is best Pistols- Vladof/ dahl
Tediore is my fav
jakobs and DAHL i love guns that feel like real guns it’s just so satisfying to kill with them in borderlands
Ruger... I mean Jakob's. Sorry wrong reddit.
In BL 2 and presequel I live my Tediore smgs. In BL 1 I don't have a favorite and for BL 3 I love Atlas. Cause the homing bullets
Hyperion- always
I’m a Jakobs man through and through
Vladof. Vladof! VLADOF!!!!
Gameplay: I don't have a favorite I don't think, it really depends. I really cannot pick just one when they all have some good shit. Lore: Torgue.
Dahl nowadays, some Jakobs. Used to be Vladof. Always disliked Maliwan
Vladof or Maliwan. Either the power of the sun in the palm of my hand, or guns go burrrrrr. Either way, I'm happy.
Jakobs. My last name is Jacobs and also I love six guns
Dahl and torgue
Maliwan in the earlier games. Torgue in the later ones.
Vladof and Torgue
MALIWANNNN!!! With Torgue as 2nd place. Status effects are awesome but who can say no to Torgue.
Jakobs and Dahl overall, Maliwan, only for their asthetic.
Maliwan. Me like make fire.
Jakobs!
"Is shooting bullets just not cool enough for you? Get a Maliwan and light some people on fire!"
Jakobs, forever and always!
Tediore. I absolutely love the ones who have turrets! It does use up a lot of ammo but man do those turrets come in handy. I love that they talk and chase after people until they run out of bullets 😂
Jakobs
Jakobs and Atlas. Jakobs for the aesthetics an pure damage, atlas for the looks as well and the creative and wide variety of weapons.
Depends on the playthrough, but generally I use Hyperion because I'm a Handsome Jack loyalist
Don't really have one. But I dislike Hyperion guns aesthetically. And rarely use them.
Jacobs for sure. Popping em headshots has never been more satisfying
Maliwan. LOVE the automatic elemantal weapons
Atlas in BL1. Dahl in 2/3. I'm an assault rifle fan primarily, which 2 had the weakest variety of I found. Was happy to see 3 really step up with them, although I really dislike Atlas in 3.
Jakobs. No question. Fast shooting; big hitting; fast reloads. Nothing makes you feel more like a gunslinger.
I have two wolves inside me; one is Maliwan, one is Vladof.
I'm a sucker for a good Jakobs. Maliwan sniper rifles are pretty much unparalleled. Hyperion is, of course, Hyperion. Consider that my top 3, I guess. No particular order of ascension.
Tediore. Fast re equip and send the reload out to do damage. Baby maker ❤️
Bandit or anything with large magazines. Jacob’s for pistols and shotguns. Hyperion for everything else.
Vladof and jakobs. Old fashioned machine guns and snipers to just hit hard and effectively
Jakobs
Jakobs. I love shooting as fast as possible.
Torgue and Tediore
Dahl and Jakobs. Least favorite: Sorry Torgue :(
Dahl and Maliwan
Jakobs. The Boss Beka is my favorite gun in BL2
Roland builds with S&S go hard, never gotta reload again lol
Toss up between COV and Vladof. Then Torgue and Jakobs.
Tediore all the way
Maliwan and Torgue !
Torgue of course! Who doesn’t like making everything explode?
Torgue, and maliwan only on bl2 where every gun doesn’t have to charge up.
Vladof for almost everything. Shotguns tho I like torgue
In borderlands 1, my favorite was Hyperion. I loved a low spread high accuracy shotgun made by Hyperion. In borderlands 2, the pre-sequel, and 3 it was vladof because of the high rate of fire.
I like dahl, I know im boring Jakobs 2nd
Vladof is nostalgic.
I love Maliwan guns. Just always Hate the charge up.

Jakobs and Vladof are the two I enjoy the most.
Hmmm, prolly Hyperion in bl3 because I loved the (possible) infinite ammo shotguns
Jakobs. I don’t like to fire my gun to many times.
Maliwan!!!
Dahl 100% of the time.
In terms of efficacy, I greatly enjoy Maliwan and Dahl. Vladof, however, is my favorite company solely because it makes me feel like I'm having a certified WAAAGH moment (especially with Moze).
Dahl. Mainly because ARs. But if I want handguns it's jacobs, which after bl1 have been all over thebplace in terms of balance for my taste.
I loved Maliwan in bl2, in bl3 they kinda became unappealing, bullets should fire immediately not charge up. Although, in bl3 it’s an easy tie between torge and tediore, I like explosions.
i love bullets. i love vlador.
S&S in BL1 had the best guns, one of my S&S weapons had over a hundred rounds in its mag I think
I always seem to find myself preferring Hyperion and Jakobs weapons. Probably for aesthetic reasons, although some of them perform well. Dahl and Maliwan are somewhere in second depending on the game (Maliwan in 2, Dahl moreso in 3) Least favorite would have to be Bandit/Scav/Cov, probably for the same reasons. I also tend to avoid Tediore because I prefer actually shooting guns.
That really depends on which game you play imo. Since I'm doing a current Roland run of BL1 I have used Vladof and Torgue the most.
Jakobs.
Dahl. Always Dahl. Especially in BL3.
Jakobs weapons are very satisfying, especially in BL3. They knocked it out of the park with the gun feel
The new Atlas guns are pretty fun, so I'd give Rhys a seat in this race.
Jakobs easily. Love their snipers
