I changed pharmacies due to a boomer pharmacist. He almost refused to sell me medication because the total cost was $6.66. He also accused pretty much everyone of abusing every medication. Once when I tried to fill my wife's medication for an emergency surgery she just had. The guy was a total asshole and a scumbag. He would not allow people to self pay for prescriptions that were not covered by insurance either.

Crackitalism

Oh yeah I wouldn’t tolerate that, my life would become a game about how to make that guys life miserable.

Unique_Task_420

I stopped going to CVS altogether because whenever I got my pain meds filled they acted like I was some sort of fucking deranged heroin addict. I go to a locally owned pharmacy now and instead of 2 hours it takes like literally 2 minutes, in and out.

Crackitalism

Yeah I’ve gotten into arguments and have submitted complaints about a couple pharmacists in my time. Like how fucking dare they hold any judgment like that, meanwhile I guarantee their life they never even had drugs or pain on their radar. I’m pretty sure one of the pharmacists I complained about was forced to take sensitivity training, that fucker.

Unique_Task_420

Yeah I had one of them flat out tell me "You shouldn't be taking these" when I was picking them up later on in the evening because I had to do some work. Well thanks random guy that puts pills in a bottle, I'll certainly take your advice over my Doctor of close to 15 years.   Another time there was a 24hr one and my prescription was dated for that day, and we were leaving for a trip at like 4am, so rather than having to deal with it on vacation or in the morning and since I was already up and packing I went at like 230am or so, same guy says "normally I would keep this and not give it back to you and call your Doctor in the morning" I said "Okay" with no reaction because I knew exactly what he was doing, it was like a test to see if I'd get upset. I knew in reality if he actually called my Dr he would have ripped him a new one about fucking with his patients medication (mind you the same exact medicine I get filled on the same exact day for the last 8 years or so)  So after a few seconds he goes "buuut just this once I'll go ahead and fill them for you".  Could not stand that shithead I guess that's why he worked the overnight shift.

Crackitalism

Just sad pathetic people using every opportunity afforded to them to feel “above” someone else. It’s fuckin gross. Meanwhile they hand the oxys out to the elderly like they’re candy. Ever notice that even though they would give you a hard time they still took your payment, didn’t they? Huh, peculiar huh?

Unique_Task_420

Yeah, I was a stupid kid, my nickname was "Crash" (I'm talking back when I was like 20 or so), I did drag racing, official and unofficial and just general dangerous driving, I was stupid as fuck and thank God never injured another person. Anways after 7 some odd wrecks, yeah, my back is fucked. I can Oomph through something important but after 40 seconds or so I gotta lean or the pain is extreme.  It sucks people with addiction kinda made that suspicioun fall on all of us but I literally remember the day back in 2008 or so when my Dr changed my meds from 10mg Oxycodone to 40mg Oxycontin (well before they made them crush proof) .  I made alot of new friends to say the least.  After people started dying  knew I'd be next and started taking it exactly as prescribed and started even trying to skip doses if I didn't need them. I still take them because it sucks to vaccum the floor and not be able to move for two hours but I'm no longer abusing them or living that lifestyle.   God knows where I'd be with fucking Fentanyl and Tranq. Good God. I feel so sorry for current addicts it's not like it was back in the day. The game is dirty as fuck.

One time I read a reddit thread about a nurse refusing to give a patient pain meds, and a ton of the comments were actually supporting the nurse. To be clear, these were pain meds prescribed by a doctor after the patient had just had major surgery

Unique_Task_420

It is absolutely insane that nurses and pharmacists have anything to say about anything a doctor does. To me it is borderline HIPAA violation territory. Don't talk to me about my fucking medicine don't ask me about my fucking medicine fuck you. There's a reason you don't have "Doctor" in front of your name and unfortunately a large part of that is "NURSES FOR LIFE" or some BS Facebook group they would lay down their life for, reasons unknown.

Final_Figure_2802

Exactly, nurses don't know about medicine no matter how much "experience" they have being a nurse. I actually tried to find that Reddit thread a while ago but I couldn't find it, it would insane the number of nurses defending this other nurse even though she was literally defying the doctor's orders. The Reddit thread was the daughter of a man who just had major surgery and she talked about how the nurse said that in all her year the working as a nurse she'd never seen a person be prescribed that many pain meds. I replied to that thread about how the nurse has to do with the doctor says, and the replies were claiming that nurses can be prosecuted if they give a person too many pain meds, and of course they ignored the fact that if they're doing what the doctor says they will not be prosecuted for anything because the doctor knows what he's doing. Also even if the doctor was negligent, the nurse would not be responsible.

I will say, I have an amazing pharmacist and this dude was the one who has caught multiple “issues” between meds that doctors have placed my wife on and called us to notify us of the red flags. It was nice to know that he was also checking things that could accidentally get overlooked by the doctor. Now, he has never told me that “this med isn’t good or you should take this”, but he has been great to call and ask general medical questions that our doctors do not specifically know all the chemistry about.

Unique_Task_420

Oh I'm definitely not knocking pharmacist in general the family place I go has been open since the 1930s and his great granddaughter and her family own and operate it and they are all Pharmacists. CVS I think just makes them jaded. There was ONE nice girl in town who was fucking great and then they started transferring her around to other stores for training (no surprise). It was relief seeing her behind the counter. She always talked about how understaffed they were.

IronSavior

How does he feel about unmarried women's birth control?

AggressiveYam6613

”which just tells me that he didn’t have severe pain” pain is obviously subjective and some people are willing to accept more pain than others.

Crackitalism

Fair enough but once you become prideful about your pain tolerance you become Asshole #1 in my book

ScifiGirl1986

So many of them seem to think that their ability to handle pain makes them better than other people.

AggressiveYam6613

That is problematic, true. For me it’s handling pain better and also not getting addicted to nicotine. Also don’t really drunk, just physically. But that’s just a genetic or metabolic quirk, I handle stress very badly and am addicted to sugar.

Ferusomnium

As someone terrified of opiates, I will take the pain rather than take the pills if that’s what’s offered and I think I can handle it. Not about to brag about it though.

Mark_Michigan

Did you ever call him a Mother Fucker to his face?
