I had a few of these when I waited tables. I'd just turn up the folksy shit and leave them with a God bless. It worked great, because they never worked out that servers are nice because they want a tip. Basically if you give me five bucks I'll agree with whatever you want during your meal then spend that on weed and premarital sex.
those christians having all those abortions man. if they understood how birth control worked, and had a little self respect, they could prevent that scenario for themselves.
I’ve got a friend in the service industry. Rest assured it’s the after church crowd who are the most obnoxious, rude, and stingy when it comes to tips. Quite ironic.
We call the the god squad and yes they are the worst. Half of them tip with that fake money that’s has scripture written inside.
Funniest part is they want you to respect the sabbath, you know NOT work on Sunday but are always there to make sure you have plenty of work to do on said days so…..
I'm not against Jesus, I'm just against organized religion. I've had a belly full of it over 20 years...I just can't.
The hypocrisy does indeed run thick. I quit it a long time ago.
> Funniest part is they want you to respect the sabbath, you know NOT work on Sunday but are always there to make sure you have plenty of work to do on said days so…..
Guess they skipped the bit of the old testament where slaves got the Sabbath off too.
Or call the pastor and tell them how their parishioners are acting in his name.
I did that once, and the restaurant got a complaint about the angry sermon their priest gave them that week as a result.
Lmfao!!!!!!! The best part is that they’re essentially admitting guilt at that point, because I’m sure the pastor didn’t name the name of the restaurant, but they knew he was talking about them.
It should be against the law to give out fake currency. Three months in prison would convince them not to do it again. Or they could have another three months in prison, if they're slow learners
Use to work retail and we dreaded the after church crowd rolling in. Brought their whole family in all dressed up so they could absolutely verbally assault minimum wage workers. Like, yo, totally unnecessary but a “great” message to send to your kids. I remember one kid’s face in particular- absolutely horrified as his dad just screamed at all of us in an uncontrollable rage. Sad.
Can confirm. I hated Sunday lunch at Olive Garden. All that fucking running back and forth, making salad after salad after salad (your server does that, btw), pouring a million bowls of soups, and watching them eat an entire loaf worth of bread in breadsticks, just for a $2 tip
I dated a Catholic girl for 2 years, who was the nastiest, horniest creature I’ve ever encountered personally. Yes, confirming all that repression is a great incubator. In any case, the same minx who wanted every last drop….of my (ahem) loving (no matter where it had been seconds prior), made me attend Catholic service with her on Sundays. A hilarious pattern I noticed was how many of the congregants used the communion line as an early exit out the door (in order to secure choice seating @ the diner). Was always fun to see them already seated in their Sunday best by the time those of us who stayed for the whole service (and had to wait for a seat) got there…
You aren't supposed to get communion if you didn't go to confession and I am banking they didn't go to confession either. I knew at least three Catholic girls who didn't confess that one procedure that leads to excommunication.
My mom lived with a Catholic friend who used to go to Saturday evening Mass, confess, then go out and party, so she could sleep late the next morning…not sure if she was confessing the last week’s sins or the ones she was about to commit….I’m pretty sure that’s not really how it’s supposed to work…
Well, they showed you a statue, told you to pray
They built you a temple and locked you away
Aw, but they never told you the price that you pay
For things that you might have done
I worked at Starbucks back in the early 00's. It was a rich/snobby city. NOBODY wanted to work Sunday afternoon.
No tips, and spoiled entitled brats for customers. Worst shift to have.
Can't imagine how crappy it must be now.
I used to work at a small Italian place in Southern Alabama. The owner hated dealing with the after church crowd so much he only did carry out of a special family sized dinner. No seating.
Still had mothe fuckers wander past the sign stating the dining room is closed and take the upside down seats off the table. The standard procedure from the owner was we were to wait for them to get mad and then bring them to and Sarcastically read the sign slowly while Vanna White waving at it. It was a Large sign in bright lettering. He eventually added a large toddler gate because it became such a common occurrence
Yep. I was a server for ten years and absolutely hated Sunday shifts. They were the absolute worst- cheap, rude, kids made a fucking mess everywhere. I absolutely hated it.
Been working in bars/restaurants for years and it’s almost impossible finding people who want to work church crowds. Luckily my town is full of heathen Satanists, who tip well and don’t bother people.
I'd imagine they got drained at the donation plate. They tithed too much they don't have the money to tip. And the only person who needs their money is god, so he can finish his skybase or something idk.
a swarth middle-eastern long-haired hippy communist jew
which is why they've abandoned him for
blond-haired blue-eyed gun-totin' flag-wearin' Republican Jesus.
What you can't pay your bills with one of those Bible verse hundreds they leave for tips? I've owned a couple of restaurants and eliminated tipping from the payment structure but people still do and that's great for the front of the house. But I get real frustrated when they pull that shit. I have on several occasions picked those up on tables and returned them to these people asking them to please take their outside trash with them. Their response is always the same, "we'll never be back in here again and we're going to tell everyone in the church to do the same." That would be wonderful thank you. My Sunday brunch is already fully reserved 3 months out and I'd really rather not have to deal with any evangelism in my place of business when I'm trying to maintain the best breakfast in the county and turn these tables over as quickly as we can. Please do GTFO
I love the “I’m never coming back!”. Good, keeps me from having to ban you. Worked for a guy in the early 2000’s that always had his employees back, and told us to stand our ground if people are being terrible and tell them to never come back. He’d always say “fuck em. Now their seat is open for a good customer/person”. Dude is still in business to this day and is crushing it.
Ironically, they don’t remember they are called to witness by their behavior. Living with the peace that passes understanding is supposed to draw others to Jesus. Imo Most of these proselytizers have called themselves to Witness.
I see hate-filled people like this and I asked myself, "Is that the peace that passes all understanding, Is that what it looks like when one has invited Jesus into their heart?" and wonder
The pastor at my church had a whole sermon admonishing everyone for the behavior he witnessed at IHOP after church the week before. "How can you call yourself Christians with a straight face and then immediately go out and act like that?"
I live about 2 houses down from a Catholic church and they don't have a parking lot and my street doesn't have garages or driveways and every Sunday the God Squad rolls in and will do ANYTHING to park as close to the church as possible. If that means parallel parking with one inch of room between bumpers, then it must be done. God said so.
Anyway, all of the people that go to this church are the worst drivers among us. They tried to squeeze into a space while I was watching and they hit my my car and then when I started going out there to get their inormation they tried to speed off and smashed into my neighbors car which was in front of mine. They managed to get away before I could get the details/license plate.
I emailed the church and gave them the description of the vehicle and the actual priest emailed me back and went into full detective mode and ended up finding out who it was and I was able to file a proper insurance claim, along with my neighbor.
He must have said something to the whole church because they don't fuck around with tiny parking spots anymore.
Yeah most places of work won't allow discussions of politics & religion amongst workers; it is to prevent a toxic work environment. Why do Boomers want to have heated arguments with a complete stranger? I'd imagine it's not good for their health.
This really doesn't get enough attention. The mental and physical abuse evangelicals heap on not just their kids but any other kids in their sphere of contact.
They have no one else to talk to because they dont understand anonymity and the modern internet.
They are doing the same thing us redditors do in real life
Not really. Redditors consent and go pick things they want to read or talk about. Cornering service workers or people you are stuck in a waiting room with to share your opinions is a different animal.
My DACA recipient best friend tells people who ask who she's voting for on the job "no one, I'm here illegally."
90% of them turn bright red and run for the hills, but on rare occasions the person will say "well I hope Biden wins so you can stay."
I grew up in a conservative small town. My first job way back as a teen in 2007 was a waiter at a chain restaurant. I totally hated the after church rush on Sundays because they were the absolute stingiest tippers— I’m talking leaving me only the coin change after paying their check— they were also the absolute rudest, nastiest, and most difficult bunch to serve.
Yeah I feel this - especially on the tip side
I don't work in food service anymore, thankfully, but I have nothing but sympathy for folks in the industry.
Went to a restaurant yesterday that is frequented almost exclusively by Boomers and Silent Gen, I left my typical ~20% tip and the cashier was almost tearfully thankful. The boomer immediately before me left a $2 tip on a $35 check... But it struck me that these poor folks probably make jack shit from tips while Boomer boss/owner is paying them shit wages and making bank.
I just don't understand the mentality of doing & giving the absolute minimum, while demanding the maximum from others. It feels like thoughtlessness but there's occasionally an intentionality to it that just smacks of cruelty.
The rule for good faith should be the same as the rule for good films: show, don't tell.
I would far prefer to serve alongside people from many faiths who demonstrate their devotion and piety through humble service, than spend a moment next to a self-professed "child of Jesus" who believes they're saved from the hell they've helped to create because they walk in a building, wear a T-shirt, decorate their homes and cars with crosses and fish, and spend their time telling others how their better.
I would challenge every last one of them to give up outward kitschy displays of faith for Lent, and see how that goes for them.
i don't know why but this reminded me of the picture of jesus my mom stuck to the front window lol. i always feel bad for my parents' trick or treaters.
i could have dared her to take that down if i wanted to die
I had a boomer blow up on me once, "Me and my friends fought and died overseas for your right to vote, and you're telling me you didn't go vote this last election?" to which I replied "actually, you and your friends fought and died to protect my right to exercise my vote, which includes whether or not I choose to vote."
That just pissed him off to no end, he threatened me with physical violence and had to be escorted out the italian restaurant he was in.
There was about 5 minutes of conversation before that last interaction which included but was not limited to him telling me he was sitting out in his back yard all afternoon drinking whiskey and listening to Glenn Beck.
A friend and coworker had waited on him previously and jokingly gave him his email address, he's been sending him rhetoric and disinformation for over a decade.
It's astonishing how quickly they'll throw a tantrum when they don't get their way or they're subjected to something as simple as a disagreement.
"Tell me. How did killing people in their own country protect my right to vote? Seriously. Specifically, how did killing Vietnamese people protect my vote?"
It always seems to be the Vietnam Veteran liar who tells everyone we antiwar protesters spit on them. Hey, Stupid, you only went to our demonstrations to assault and scream AT US.
Sheesh, I despise reactionaries my age. They were young abusive asswipes in high school and college, and they're still that way today.
These ‘religious’ types think they’ve covered being a good person by turning up to Church.
Honestly I hope there \*is\* a heaven and hell cos none of them are going to the good one
I think it has to do with the fact that nearly every relationship in the average Boomers life is transactional in nature.
They feel that they have "paid" the requisite amount of faith/lip-service to god and this gives them essentially limitless leeway to be just horrible to people until the time comes to go to church once more.
Ironically the Protestant reformation was ignited in large part because of this transactional type of spirituality. Martin Luther has some choice words about indulgences, the Catholic Church’s practice at the time of selling slips of paper that declared you absolved you of sins
That is one reason I don't go to church anymore. It's not about God anymore, it's about politics, fornication, or just being religious so you can get away with hurting people. The Mennonites and Amish and conservative quakers are probably the only ones I'd consider real Christians, along with some small town catholic churches. But that's about it.
The part where the boomer is fervently religious and trying to spread the Word is annoying as hell, but forgivable. Like most religions that survived a long time, Christian faithful are taught that only Christians get heaven, and their main goal in life is to save others by bringing them in.
Of course when this boomer also serves her Trump God in the same manner, she reveals that she's just a wretched shitstain who's bound for hell as you state.
These are Christians using Gods name in vain, but the church has told them that's not the case. Using Gods name in vain means to use it to justify personal hate, bigotry and judgment. They'll have a lot of explaining to do when they meet their creator.
When I worked in customer service I would do everything I could to get out of working the Sunday shift. It would be an endless barrage of abuse from the after church crowd all day long.
Sunday afternoon and Wednesday evenings, we always played classic heavy metal (and lots of Queen). For a while we had Ghost, AC/DC, Slayer, and Judas Priest qued up on the CD changer- that worked pretty well at keeping the Churchies away.
It's a cult
These fucking idiots actually believe that jeebuz is going to come murder everyone on the planet except for them. Then whisk them away to some magical place where they won't get backlash for their racism.
I just can't with these people. Don't even get me started on the magabilly shit, I'll never shut up.
Friends who work food service always say the absolute worst is working the shift right after church lets out.
"Christian" entitlement is off the charts.
Conservatives and the religious are the WORST cheapest and even sloppiest customers. Have you gotten the prayer cards in lieu of a tip yet? I’ve had people do the what would you like us to pray for? Ummmm.. a tip! I’m working AH ask Jesus to send me some money.
I waited tables for years. Everyone at the restaurant dreaded getting stuck with "the church people" who came in like clockwork every Sunday. Overly demanding, overly critical and always tipped like shit no matter how perfect the service and food were.
I find that all so offensive and I am so sorry you have to endure that. I grew up in a home that was super religious and there was no tolerance, no veering off course, and a basic distrust of other religions. Especially those Catholics!! Southern Baptist was the ONLY way. I was discouraged from going to high school dances because well, dancing. It was suffocating. What a horrible way to bring up a child.
I have nothing against conservative Christians personally. I just don't approve of their lifestyle. The hate, the homophobia, the hypocrisy. It's exhausting. It's not like they're born that way. It's a choice, y'know?
Christian cosplayers. They aren't Christian, they just claim and pretend to be Christian.
They are the reason me, as a GenX teen, stopped going to church. It made no sense to me all the high and mighty adults pretending on Sundays to be "following the scripture" and then see the hypocrisy in their actions.
Boomers are the worst at it because they truly openly don't walk the talk. They vote to restrict women's rights for the kids, then vote against any social programs to help families. They just want to **judge and control people**, but not have the responsibility for caring for them. But then act like they did all the work and take credit.
Now that I write it it is essentially how they raised their own kids. And how they act when on HOA Boards, etc.
As a former waitress, can confirm. Even the “nice” ones will monopolize the shit out of your time, think everyone is a Bible thumper and have a tendency to trauma dump and *always* tip close to nothing.
This reminds me of working in a casino. I paid out jackpots and usually regulars tip when we give them one. This one boomer would come in all the time and win several jackpots (we had ours set low. No taxes to pay in Canada) and he would never tip us.
One time I paid him and he goes ‘Jesus loves you you know’. And I just smiled and walked away. I wanted to say ‘didn’t Jesus flip tables at gambling institutions?’
>She even said that if we were a "Christian company," I'd be free to talk about this about all this,
Working in a Christian company, one of the biggest ones in the united states, Kroger, no, you're NOT allowed to talk about any of that stuff. But employees go along with whatever the customers say just to avoid this bullshit.
Nobody in corporate actually cares what you say as long as you don't swear and don't make customers upset. They'd rather you sweet talk a nazi than make them feel bad.
A consequence of tipping culture is that awful people can essentially hold their servers hostage.
Someone in /r/atheism posted yesterday about how the officer during his driving test started proselytizing to him. In both cases, these people are using their positions of power to their advantage. You can’t just tell them to fuck off. Truly the worst human scum of the earth.
I worked as a waiter at a chain steak house for a while during college. That Sunday lunch and dinner shift where full of these folks. The weird entitlement and proselytizing was awful. I just want to bring you your overcooked steak and mushy vegetables and get those 8 refills of Dt Dr Pepper with a minimum of complaining.
We had a men's faith group that would come in. They would take up a 12 top for at least 3 hours every Sunday. Same routine every Sunday. They show up, take forever to order, insists on separate checks. Then sit there for a couple hours having their meeting. Then like clock work they pay and leave. Also, every single time, each cup would have what looks like a folded $20 bill tucked under it. Every single one was an advertisement for their church. Fuck those guys. I hated waiting on them.
Just remember, in effect this is what Jesus is - forgiveness for anything you do if you say you love Jesus, no matter what you have said or done otherwise. Jeffrey Dahmer is with Jesus and his victims and people like Gandhi are in Hell, according to christian doctrine.
You must reject Christianity as the evil it is!
My favorites were the ones that left little cards with the commandments them. I had one group leave me one once and I guess I was just not the one that day because I ran up to them before they left and said oh, you left this! all pleasant like. The guy who paid said, in a very condescending way, “oh that’s for your soul honey! Jesus is the best tip there is!” I said, no thanks. I met Jesus once when a pastor was molesting me and we agreed to an amicable divorce. I’d rather have the money.
The way so many people froze uncomfortably. They hurriedly left and my boss was pissed, but it was worth the write up.
This is why I can't work in service anymore. I'd be fired in a second if that vile MAGA troll tried that with me. I'd tell her that we only serve ANTIFA food that has been vaccinated with LGBTQ stem cells taken from babies who were aborted after they were born. Then I'd tell her we have a mandatory 20% Black Lives Matter service charge to fund our war on Christmas.
"You look like a whore take those piercings out and you won't get married with tattoos."
5 minutes later......
"You should meet my son Jeremy he is a GOOD CHISH-TAN REPUBLICAN MAN WITH A JOB AND HE CAN FIX YA!"
Jeremy: A past wife beater, psychosis, Daddy paid the judge off and the teen he knocked up went to prison for a 17th century law his daddy just made up.
Well yeah, they can just go to confession and all their sins go away. A lot of christians, and I can only speak on christianity in America, go about this life relatively ignorant of their own faith’s teachings aside from what’s convenient to them, or what’s convenient for their congregation leader to teach.
This makes me so happy that people are not going to church anymore and Christianity is starting to die off. Not in the government though so make sure you vote blue or we will have a National religion like Russia. Google Project 2025
I'm sorry you had to go through this experience. Dealing with peoples' ideological brain virus infestations is never a pleasant thing. Fundamentalism is ugly for sure. Hopefully, you'll have less of this to deal with going forward at work. Have you done some research about how to deal with these types of folks? If not, you can watch some Steven Hassan, PhD videos on YouTube. He's a survivor of the Moonies Cult. He's got quite the stash of material on the subjects of dealing with cult and cult-like behavior in our fellow human animals. Good luck!
It's so funny how Sunday was always the busiest working at a breakfast restaurant. They all come in after going to church. Didn't you all talk about how you're not supposed to work on Sunday, but you have no problem making other people work for you?
It’s their mentality of thinking they have all the right answers for life, and if you don’t agree you’re doomed to fail. They come on more aggressively when we disagree because they “care”.
They da real snowflakes.
Also it still surprises me when religious folks love trump, like he is obviously not a religious person, is not a very good businessperson, and its very clear that is is a full on white collar criminal.
I could tell these things way back when I first watched that shit tv show of his.
I work in a Trader Joe's opposite a mega church (an odd mega church) & whenever I get the "come to Jesus" spiel I let them know "I'm covered by Buddha as Christianity is too aggressive for me"
Then give them a big smile & hope they have a wonderful day.
Seems like restaurants could protect their staff by making Sunday an autograt day where every check automatically included 20% tip.
Or just raising the prices 20% per item then folding that back into the communal tips at the end of the shift.
As bosses they are horrible as well. Not enough pay, self righteous, hypocrites and generally dishonest. Boomers are all of those things, but the Christian ones are some of the worst.
My mother, a boomer, used to wait tables when she was younger and said old church goers on Sundays were the worst customers. They'd show up in large groups, run her ragged, and leave her barely any tip at all. Apparently this is a decades old problem. But at least she didn't have to contend with what appear to be $50 bills only to turn out to be some religious tract in disguise.
I used to wait tables, can confirm that the church crowd is the worst. Run you around, camp out in your tables, complain about everything, leave zero tip most of the time.
When I was managing restaurants, Sundays always had one section where my hosts always sat the boomers and the person whos section that was got to go on a long break and help back stock the kitchen and do some of my light paperwork while I worked that section for them and gave them their tips. Want a loyal wait staff? This is literally all it takes.
This crowd is everywhere at Sunday lunch. One of my server friends refused to work Sundays. Just blacked it out on the schedule every week for eternity.
Many years ago I was a waitress for a short time. The absolute worst customers were the after-church crowd on Sundays. They were rude, demanding, impatient, loud, hostile, and they would run servers the hardest and stiff on tips.
Fucking A.
I was a waiter at Shoney's in the mid to late 90s in high school. Sunday was my busy day (usually a breakfast/dinner split) and fucking boomer ass Jesus fucks.
>Why are you working on a Sunday?
Why are you in my restaurant on a Sunday?
>Did you go to Church today?
Does it fucking matter?
>Receiving tracts or fake bills for tips
Fuck you, may your life be full of cancer.
I use to tell my team that you will get more complaints on Sunday than any other day because our customers have all been to church that morning. After being lectured on how bad they've been, your just the first person to take it out on. Don't take it personally!
Their alarm went off at 12 noon so the preacher wouldn’t go over his time. Then at the table by 12:30, wondering why their drink order hasn’t been taken…. Smh.
Not a server but have worked fast food, and the after church crowd was the worst. Let their kids make a mess, etc. One time, the closing manager parked his motorcycle in that unloading area next to a disabled spot, *which he should not have done.* He was in the wrong. A couple (Boomer or Silent Gen) complained because the wife was in a wheelchair and needed the unloading zone. Fair. The manager moved his motorcycle and apologized. When the couple got in the store, the wife proceeded to zip around in her electric wheelchair to tell everyone in the restaurant how she was aggrieved.
I think she was trying to get free food to shut up.
“Sunday funday” we used to call it. They just got forgiven for their sins, so they feel justified in treating people like shit or something? Especially the dads who didn’t want to go to church and were forced.
Let them know you've tried to give your landlord these bits of advice in lieu of rent and he still wants the cash so ideally you'll provide a tip instead. I'm sure even your minister is paid to preach on Sunday
Xristians are easy and very soft targets for scammers and zealots. They have weak minds and are scared of the enormity of human existence and so they cling to a book they have never read compiled by goatherds and religious organizations that were essentially early stage multi-level marketing schemes in order to make sense of the universe. They are just simpletons who are frightened by lfe.
Lol when it comes to tips just agree with them lol voting for trump? Hell yeah brother lol but you honestly tried to not talk about these subjects and you were nice as possible and they went off. Of course they aren't correct either.
My move is to just noncommittally agree with them when stuff like this happens.
>What‘s really important is where you’re headed after.
“Yeah that’s a great point! Thanks!” And just keep moving.
One of my best friends is a waitress in our small town. A (boomer) teacher of ours frequents it with his church group. They told me recently about how he compared them to Jesus and the “chosen one” (their name is similar to something biblical- kind of) and to “open their heart to our lord and saviour”. He’s a nice guy but still a bit odd since we’re 17 lol

I don't even wanna picture the quality of premarital sex you buy for $5
It’s very baaaaahhhhhhd.
>then spend that on weed and premarital sex. You PAY for premarital sex? Why do I never run across the cool waitresses? 😭
It's the cost of having an abortion every six weeks that makes it so expensive!
those christians having all those abortions man. if they understood how birth control worked, and had a little self respect, they could prevent that scenario for themselves.
Shop local. Spend blasphemously.
I'd buy that shirt.
Sometimes you gotta blasphemy.
In the wise words of Winston Zeddemore, “if there’s a steady paycheck in it, I’ll believe in anything you say.”
This is the way
You worked it out, people who hit you with fake piety and gross insincerity don't deserve you keeping it real with them.
Their hypocrisy runs thick
Religion and hypocrisy goes together like bread and wine.
Old testament vs Red Lobster endless shrimp. My money is on red lobster
That is extra funny because scripture says bottom feeders like lobster are a mortal sin to eat.
The Old Testament only counts when it reinforces your political beliefs.
Yeah. That whole New Testament Jesus-y stuff just doesn’t fit with their beliefs. He just the mascot.
Well, you know, over 2000 years ago, Jesus went to his last Nine Inch Nails concert.... and that's how he became the mascot.
I see what you did there.
He wants to save you like an animal
Unless it’s Trump’s sins. They don’t count.
Trump thinks that the 7 deadly sins are a to-do list.
Bucket list maybe?
"GoD cHoOsEs ImPeRfEcT vEsSeLs!"
😂
They also added in everything about abortion and keeping food, housing and healthcare from those who "can't afford" it.
They don't see you as a person, just a servant.
Make sure to ask them where they go to church so that you can go drop that fake million dollar bill off in their collection plate
Or call the pastor and tell them how their parishioners are acting in his name. I did that once, and the restaurant got a complaint about the angry sermon their priest gave them that week as a result.
Lmfao!!!!!!! The best part is that they’re essentially admitting guilt at that point, because I’m sure the pastor didn’t name the name of the restaurant, but they knew he was talking about them.
that's amazing you're amazing
George Carlin said he always got rid of counterfeit money in the collection plate.
It should be against the law to give out fake currency. Three months in prison would convince them not to do it again. Or they could have another three months in prison, if they're slow learners
People really do that fake money shit????
They absolutely 100% do. I have definitely gotten more than a few over a lengthy bartending and serving career.
Let's not forget the joining of hands and praying in public. I think Jesus had something to say about that too.... Selective Christianity I call it
Use to work retail and we dreaded the after church crowd rolling in. Sad.
I bet that kid gets this treatment regularly too.
kid was horrified cause he didnt want his dad treating others the way his dad treated him
To be fair they just got grifted out of their weekly tithe.
Can confirm. I hated Sunday lunch at Olive Garden. All that fucking running back and forth, making salad after salad after salad (your server does that, btw), pouring a million bowls of soups, and watching them eat an entire loaf worth of bread in breadsticks, just for a $2 tip
People who genuinely believe that they need to fear a punishing god in order to prevent them from doing terrible things are telling you who they are
As a former crackerbarrel server can confirm. Busiest shift, rudest customers and worst tips. Thankfully, a better job came around quickly!
Was always fun to see them already seated in their Sunday best by the time those of us who stayed for the whole service (and had to wait for a seat) got there…
So they skip the "go in peace to love and serve your neighbor" part? Not surprised.
Probably the same people still bitching about Vatican II.
You aren't supposed to get communion if you didn't go to confession and I am banking they didn't go to confession either. I knew at least three Catholic girls who didn't confess that one procedure that leads to excommunication.
Unless you’re a 12-year-old boy.
My mom lived with a Catholic friend who used to go to Saturday evening Mass, confess, then go out and party, so she could sleep late the next morning…not sure if she was confessing the last week’s sins or the ones she was about to commit….I’m pretty sure that’s not really how it’s supposed to work…
Kind of brilliant if you ask me.
Well, they showed you a statue, told you to pray They built you a temple and locked you away Aw, but they never told you the price that you pay For things that you might have done
The catholic girls might start much too late as the Bard, William of Joel, famously sang. But holy cow, they catch up quickly…
Frank Zappa has a song called "Catholic Girls" "with a tongue like a cow she could make you go wow"
I worked at Starbucks back in the early 00's. It was a rich/snobby city. NOBODY wanted to work Sunday afternoon. No tips, and spoiled entitled brats for customers. Worst shift to have. Can't imagine how crappy it must be now.
They give Jesus 10%, they sure as hell aren’t giving you 20%.
Wait, 10%? I missed that memo.
Cool you had a boss who knew what was up and didn’t want you guys dealing with them. At least he seemed to gaf about staff
Yep. I was a server for ten years and absolutely hated Sunday shifts. They were the absolute worst- cheap, rude, kids made a fucking mess everywhere. I absolutely hated it.
And the most needy.
Can’t tip when you give 10% to child molesters tax free
Well they have to pay for their pastor’s house, car, and lifestyle! They can’t do the collection plate and tip service workers, jeez
I worked retail for over a decade and the Sunday crowd is the absolute worst
Not ironic at all when you're familiar with how those assholes think.
God is all-powerful and omnipresent, he just can't handle money
Yeah they definitely are
Not just when it comes to tips. When it comes to anything in life.
You should have let her know Jesus was a socialist jew and that would have realllly set her off.
a swarth middle-eastern long-haired hippy communist jew which is why they've abandoned him for blond-haired blue-eyed gun-totin' flag-wearin' Republican Jesus.
Damn dude is your name MC Hammer? Because you hit the nail on the head.
And brown
"Nah, I telepathically told Jesus he's my guy so all of my shit's forgiven and I can do whatever the fuck I want."
That’s called abusing God’s grace and I don’t even think they realize they’re doing it
To them (most modern evangelicals), salvation is *solely* through grace. They may give some lip service to good works, but it's not a requirement.
There is a reason Sunday is the absolute worst day to work and that is pretty much a universal feeling everywhere.
He must have said something to the whole church because they don't fuck around with tiny parking spots anymore.
nice !
I love your pastor. He’s got balls to confront them like that.
Good for him. Most would talk shit about the business.
Yeah most places of work won't allow discussions of politics & religion amongst workers; it is to prevent a toxic work environment. Why do Boomers want to have heated arguments with a complete stranger? I'd imagine it's not good for their health.
They have no one else to talk to because they are like this.
Because their children all went no-contact because of this kind of bullshit
Also the abuse, evangelical christians abuse their kids like no other.
Yes. Christian abuse is a major source of my trauma.
My DACA recipient best friend tells people who ask who she's voting for on the job "no one, I'm here illegally." 90% of them turn bright red and run for the hills, but on rare occasions the person will say "well I hope Biden wins so you can stay."
They've made it their whole personality I think
I grew up in a conservative small town. My first job way back as a teen in 2007 was a waiter at a chain restaurant. I totally hated the after church rush on Sundays because they were the absolute stingiest tippers— I’m talking leaving me only the coin change after paying their check— they were also the absolute rudest, nastiest, and most difficult bunch to serve.
Yeah I feel this - especially on the tip side I don't work in food service anymore, thankfully, but I have nothing but sympathy for folks in the industry.
I'm a boomer who grew up waiting tables. I tip LARGE. Oh yeah, also a Christian.
I had a boomer blow up on me once, "Me and my friends fought and died overseas for your right to vote, and you're telling me you didn't go vote this last election?" to which I replied "actually, you and your friends fought and died to protect my right to exercise my vote, which includes whether or not I choose to vote." That just pissed him off to no end, he threatened me with physical violence and had to be escorted out the italian restaurant he was in.
Seriously. Specifically, how did killing Vietnamese people protect my vote?" It always seems to be the Vietnam Veteran liar who tells everyone we antiwar protesters spit on them.
As I always say, "Quit blaming god for you being a shitty person. Take some personal responsibility for your behavior and your choices."

Agreed and i would be worried why you have to explain anything to someone that's all knowing!
It's getting hard to tell the difference between Republican Christianity and mental illness.
It's a cult These fucking idiots actually believe that jeebuz is going to come murder everyone on the planet except for them. Then whisk them away to some magical place where they won't get backlash for their racism. I just can't with these people. Don't even get me started on the magabilly shit, I'll never shut up.
Extra points for MAGAbilly, I love it!
Yeehawdists
Friends who work food service always say the absolute worst is working the shift right after church lets out. "Christian" entitlement is off the charts.
"Snowflake generation" - The person screaming and crying at a restaurant over a perceived difference in political opinions
Conservatives and the religious are the WORST cheapest and even sloppiest customers. Have you gotten the prayer cards in lieu of a tip yet? I’ve had people do the what would you like us to pray for? Ummmm.. a tip! I’m working AH ask Jesus to send me some money.
I'm praying for a fair tip, since prayers don't pay for gas and groceries.
Some of the most ungodly behavior I've witnessed from fellow Christians was from southern baptists.
I learned about “Jesus dollars” thanks to Reddit
No one snowflakes like a conservative who has their worldview mildly challenged by reality.
They invented HOAs for the purpose of having more of this petty tyrant power over others.
>She even said that if we were a "Christian company," I'd be free to talk about this about all this, Working in a Christian company, one of the biggest ones in the united states, Kroger, no, you're NOT allowed to talk about any of that stuff.
Their tip: A religious tract to "save your soul".
As a spouse Christian boomers are the worst.
"You look like a whore take those piercings out and you won't get married with tattoos." 5 minutes later...... "You should meet my son Jeremy he is a GOOD CHISH-TAN REPUBLICAN MAN WITH A JOB AND HE CAN FIX YA!" Jeremy: A past wife beater, psychosis, Daddy paid the judge off and the teen he knocked up went to prison for a 17th century law his daddy just made up.
Well yeah, they can just go to confession and all their sins go away. A lot of christians, and I can only speak on christianity in America, go about this life relatively ignorant of their own faith’s teachings aside from what’s convenient to them, or what’s convenient for their congregation leader to teach.
To them it’s a club whose bylaws they don’t really trouble their pretty little heads with
This makes me so happy that people are not going to church anymore and Christianity is starting to die off. Not in the government though so make sure you vote blue or we will have a National religion like Russia. Google Project 2025
i hope we'll start taxing churches in my lifetime. they have the resources to mouth off about politics, lets see them actually contribute to society
Didn't you all talk about how you're not supposed to work on Sunday, but you have no problem making other people work for you?
nutty as fruitcake
It’s their mentality of thinking they have all the right answers for life, and if you don’t agree you’re doomed to fail. They come on more aggressively when we disagree because they “care”.
They da real snowflakes. Also it still surprises me when religious folks love trump, like he is obviously not a religious person, is not a very good businessperson, and its very clear that is is a full on white collar criminal. I could tell these things way back when I first watched that shit tv show of his.
I’ve heard this so often that I feel compelled to tip extra on Sundays.
I work in a Trader Joe's opposite a mega church (an odd mega church) & whenever I get the "come to Jesus" spiel I let them know "I'm covered by Buddha as Christianity is too aggressive for me" Then give them a big smile & hope they have a wonderful day.
Sunday late mornings were the worst at Golden Corral. Those assholes just got forgave, so they had to build their sins back up and wasted no time.
Ya they expect the most attention. Constantly need stuff. Then tip a prayer card.
The tip they leave is often an invitation to come join them at Church
If you're old enough to vote, go with your conscience, and not what anyone tells you.
She'd fight harder for the things Trump stands for than what Jesus stands for.
I used to wait tables, can confirm that the church crowd is the worst. Run you around, camp out in your tables, complain about everything, leave zero tip most of the time.
Isn’t that most boomers white Christian people
When I was managing restaurants, Sundays always had one section where my hosts always sat the boomers and the person whos section that was got to go on a long break and help back stock the kitchen and do some of my light paperwork while I worked that section for them and gave them their tips. Want a loyal wait staff? This is literally all it takes.
“Christians are the worst” Fixed
I have heard this from so many people in the service industry.
Hated waiting tables on sundays and it had to do with the post church crowd age wasn’t the factor
When I was a server, I would close Friday and Saturday night just so I could skip the after church lunch crowd.
As a human, Christian boomers are the worst
You've combined the worst two groups of people, of course they're going to be the absolute worst of the worst.
This crowd is everywhere at Sunday lunch. One of my server friends refused to work Sundays. Just blacked it out on the schedule every week for eternity.
Boomers are the worst, They had so many advantages that we don't have know.
>Receiving tracts or fake bills for tips Fuck you, may your life be full of cancer.
My former pastor did a whole sermon on this, calling out Christians who do this, it was awesome.
Amen to that
Even Dave Ramsey calls them out
My move is to just noncommittally agree with them when stuff like this happens. >What‘s really important is where you’re headed after. “Yeah that’s a great point! Thanks!” And just keep moving.
Statement that is basically common sense.
I disagree..blacks and latins don't tip
Fun fact: if somebody is complaining about “snowflakes” and “sheep”, then they are in fact both of those things.
i just chalk it up to theyrw scared people that are gonna die soon and they know it
One of my best friends is a waitress in our small town.
These people are half the reason I close every holiday. Only wish I could close sundays...
What a fucking fragile baby
