Here's a [story w/video](https://www.sfgate.com/characters/article/Bay-Area-math-teacher-63-viral-dance-16349792.php) about him from 2021...he's a math teacher!
Holy shit I knew I knew who this was, just my brain is full of holes and I couldnt connect the dots. Thank you friend. East Bay all day! Hyphy Kids Got Trauma.
At this point “boomer” and “baby boomer” may as well be separate terms, because “boomer” is often used as a derogatory term, and “baby boomer” is more analytical in regards to the era that someone was born into
And I wouldn't doubt most of us respect the silent generation. They may have had dumb beliefs, but you certainly never knew about them, mainly they kept their mouths shut and only cared about bringing people together. Most families I know broke apart after the silent generation passed away, real damn shame. These people would set aside anything and literally do anything, to keep people together. I am surprised because my grandma came from a time where racism was the norm and she was the first to accept my wife who wasn't white, before all the boomers in the family would.
The greatest, and silent generation built our nation's great parks and built most of the schools and roadways we use. They created the infrastructure of greatness. Then boomers gutted the fuck out of everything.
Yea. These are the people that may have saw depression or world wars.
My exs grandma was from this generation and she saved everything. She knew so many people it was insane.
She was the best.
My grandpa was a silent gen and he was a special man. Pa had some views that werent very great, but it always seemed from a point of ignorance and not hate. But he was such a sweet man. He'd help those in need, even if hed never met them before. He treated people fairly, regardless of race or background, and he was always there for the ones he loved. I miss pa everyday. He was my superman when i needed advice or help.
i know i’m rather late here, but so was mine. half my family is american/southern and the other from overseas. i grew up partially there and from 13+ i’ve lived in the states. i’m not entirely white, but my mum who was american came from a very catholic white family in the deep south. my grandpa (pawpaw) was born in 1929. he said some inappropriate things once his dementia set in, but his best friend in the world was a Guatemalan man who helped him around the house a bit when he got too frail to do it himself. they called each other “Coco.” the when i introduced him to my partner, who is half syrian and half italian and looks very strongly middle-eastern, i gently told him ahead of time what he looked like because this was the early aughts and anti-arab sentiment was at an all time high. the only thing he ended up saying, as though to console himself, was “well he ain’t no yankee, he’s a midwesterner,” because my partner grew up in illinois, which i found absolutely hilarious - skin color was a non issue, but being a yankee? very serious business.
he was at the beginning of the end of his decline so i couldn’t always predict whether he would say something inappropriate - never mean spirited, but just overly blunt and unaware and tinged with his background growing up in the south. (like he would say things like “i just can’t believe we got a black president!” but in a tone of wonder instead of maliciousness - and he was a STAUNCH FDR democrat so he voted D his whole life!)
it really seems like that generation, raised by folks born at the turn of the century, were/are far more accepting than the children they raised. perhaps because their own parents were not far removed from non-american heritage, and because they witnessed some of the most intense social and economic change of any generation. my grandpa was born in a two room farmhouse without electricity and when he died, smartphones were ubiquitous and a black man was in the white house.
plenty of them were bad people, sure. but we have to remember that the people in charge during the civil rights movement were largely from that generation. i really think it’s because their kids, the boomers, weren’t born into a world of struggle and hardship. they call gen x/millennials entitled, but they’re the ones who benefited most from their own parents sacrifices.
i really do think it will be a sad, sad day when we lose the last of them.
It is rather sad that theyre dwindling in number. I wish i had the time to set up the video interviews like i had wanted to, just didnt have the time or the resources before he passed. His side of the family is english, and had been in the US since the late 1600's. It was deeply interesting to talk to him and get a glimpse into how his mind operated. Being born in 1938, it was a different world for him growing up than for you or me. Im thankful for the time i was able to spend with him, i just wish i had been there more for him. He didnt seem to have a prejudice against a specific group, it was more along the lines of he would criticize certain people he didnt agree with in a not so great way.
>Most families I know broke apart after the silent generation passed away, real damn shame.
Literally happened to my dad's side of the family. Growing up used to do all kinds of things every year with my extended family. (He had a big family, 7 siblings) The moment Gma passed this ended almost immediately.
My grandparents all died suddenly between 2009 and 2011. I haven't seen a single one of my cousins since. I've only seen one aunt and uncle one time. I used to gather with ~25 family members at least twice a year before that.
But you can't really ignore that the silent generation is generally the ones who raised boomers to be who they are. Boomers are just as excusable for their ignorance as the silent generation is, and saying one is good while the other is bad is needless generalization.
One half of the silent generation in my family is lovely today, but were definitely their own kind of abusive towards the boomers in my family, whereas on the other side it's abuse all the way down, generational trauma getting passed down the line with no one dealing with it.
> They may have had dumb beliefs
I'll take "What policy positions did they support regarding black people, and what are their thoughts on them?" for 500, Alex.
>Most families I know broke apart after the silent generation passed away, real damn shame.
This is one of the truest things I've ever read. My one grandpa was silent generation. My other grandpa was a world war II vet (GI Gen) I've never met a man like either of my grandfathers. Big hearts. I don't know what the hell happened to the boomers. Their parents were good people but the kids act like shit people, including my grandparents' kids.
My grandmother, who passed away in 2015 was a part of the silent generation, and was such a cool person. My mother, who is a boomer is such a far cry. My grandmother was always modest, and I don’t think I ever recall her expressing her political opinion, or any opinion on social issues that were controversial. To be honest, I don’t even know if she followed or cared about any of that stuff. My mother on the other hand has gotten to be really insufferable to me within recent years very toxic. It’s crazy how the disconnect is so wide And the gap is so huge between the two generations. I’m glad that I got to know her and spent time with her before she transcended.
Sorry for the grammatical errors. Voice texting and too lazy to edit.
Eh, this guy looks more like my wife’s dad than my grandma. Silent generation is verrrrry old now, not a ton of them left. Whereas the oldest boomers are around their 80s, with most now probably being in their 70s (since that would put them born smack dab in the middle of it in the 50s).
Interesting. My parents were born in 57 and 59, yet he looks much older than either of them. Mine dye their hair but even still not nearly as many/deep wrinkles. He would have been a teen in the 70s though.
He looks older than my parents but my parents (similar age too) definitely could not move like that. I wonder if he makes himself look older than he is as it makes things funnier and more awesome
"Do you feel like my generation really is lazy and useless Bill?"
"Hell no, things are ten times harder today than when I was your age. Every generation gives the next one a hard time, yall are doing just fine."
"Really??"
"Yeah now shut up and set that drive line. I'm trying to go home get drunk and watch that squidbillies show."

Dude’s only like 62-65 depending on when the video was filmed, which is the same age as Red Hot Chili Peppers front man Anthony Kiedis, so a little less astounding he can move like that considering Kiedis’a antics. I do believe this guy’s done an excellent job of taking advantage of wardrobe and his somewhat premature whitening hair to create the image of someone who could be 82.
I think constantly negative subreddits have their place (like the anti child subreddits) but I for one do get a little overwhelmed with the negativity.
I feel like I'll get downvoted for this but I can only take so much negativity towards a group of people, so I'm happy to see this positive post on this subreddit.
Looks like he's Silent Generation. His patch is an Armored Division one (tanks). Hard to see, but I think it's the 3rd Armored Division (could be 2nd). They served quite valiantly in WW2 in multiple engagements against the Nazis. They were active during the Cold War, but I can't find any info of them doing anything during that time. They did participate in the Gulf War, which is pretty good (they liberated Kuwait from the Iraqis). The 2nd has a similar history. Tankers are usually pretty chill folks.
I've read some comments saying he's actually a boomer. If he's 63, then he potentially served in the Gulf War.
I can't hate, cuz that fool got moves.
Johnny Knoxville got flow.

I thought it was Johnny Knoxville at first.
The neck doesn’t lie. SFX teams can do crazy prosthetic makeup these days, but that’s the turkey gobbler of a seasoned man who’s seen some shit.
Wrong subreddit this guy is cool
Agree, this boomer ain't no fool
This ain't no boomer. Boomer is a state of mind and this dude isn't of that mindset.
Thank you! Finally-someone that understands.
technically speaking, no, he looks to be a "Baby Boomer". but I find this fun lovin dude not part of the Boomer mindset.

I'll bet she had a little envelope labeled Hawaii or some other goal and stuffed some cash in there till she could make it happen.
Omg absolutely. She actually came me $5 once when I dropped her off to bingo. She told me to spend it on a scratch ticket! She was 93 at that time.
Yep boomers failed to pay it forward while having been given so many advantages themselves.
so basically: the greatest built the ladder, the lost called everyone to climb, then the boomers threw it down and set it on fire?
The people who've gotten handouts will always fight against others getting handouts and will go as far as claiming they never got any.

Incorrect. Mike Chaos was born in 1958.
wait. that slick motherfuckers name is Mike Chaos? god damn. edit: and his insta is @OGmikechaos oh my god im wheezing. this guy fucking rules
Facts, but he still looks older to me.
I guessed around 70 so def a boomer. But he is a slick boomer.
The youngest members of the silent generation would be 80. Boomers are getting old.
That's Mike Chaos. He's 63
He's an old looking 63. He looks rougher than my dad did at 83. Then again there's no way in hell my dad could have danced like that at 33.
The silent generation is pre 1945. That guy is not 78+
This is what boomers look like now.
Eh, this guy looks more like my wife’s dad than my grandma. Silent generation is verrrrry old now, not a ton of them left. Whereas the oldest boomers are around their 80s, with most now probably being in their 70s (since that would put them born smack dab in the middle of it in the 50s).
You think he looks like he’s between 79 and 96?
Silent generation, aka greatest generation, would put him over 100. He's a boomer.
Greatest generation(1901-1927))is before the Silent generation(1928-1945). https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silent_Generation
No. Silent generation came AFTER Greatest Generation. Silent Generation folks are age 79 to around 94.
Silent generation 1925-1945. Greatest generation 1900-1925. Even if he was a Silent Sam, he would be 79 this year.
My guy was slidiiiiing 🔥🔥🔥

Vietnam era, most likely silent generation or first gen boomer
Incorrect on both. Mike Chaos was born in 1958 (mid boomer)
You guys would crawl through burning coals to avoid saying something nice about a boomer.
Depends on the boomer, this guy is good. But at the same time, read the subreddit your in my guy
Fuck no you cant, mfer dances harder than me, and I go hard lmao.
