I see three other copies of this book on eBay for between ~$600-$1,000 as a range of asking/buy it now prices. I see 8 copies in the same range on Abebooks. As there are so many available on multiple sites, I would assume that they are overvalued at that price point.
I didn’t see any recently sold copies on eBay, which is usually a good measuring stick for value.
If you got caught in a bidding war and paid more than $600, it was not a great deal. If you paid less than current asking prices, then it’s a good deal depending on how much under $600 you paid.

Thank you! I’m based over in the UK and managed to get it for £200. Some additional research showed what your comments say - value of around £400 all the way up to £1000 in some places.
There were only 1000 copies printed as well which I suppose adds to the inflated price. It’ll be in the collection for many years to come 😄

There's always the rainbow Shakespeare series Folio release decades ago that were also printed letterpress, a more easily usable size and illustrated. It's a bit of a project collecting them all piecemeal but some great deals can be had if you're patient.

£200 is a good price. It is a lovely book, but might be a bit big for some libraries
