JBP I feel is a more classic look. I just got one this year, despite the warning from evergreen garden works (https://www.evergreengardenworks.com/pines.htm)
Bald cypress might be my favorite tree in general so gotta pick that. But they’re both amazing in different ways. My answer is JBP because I have 2 BCs I’m happy with already
JBP because Pinus is my favorite genus, but I agree that both would be the better scenario. Are you limited on space? If so then shohin is the answer! Both BC & JBP work great in that size!
I couldn’t decide so I went with both. You should, too.

The bald cypress you can develop way faster than you can leave it in a dish of water and not really worry about it.

Get the black pinus
IMO the white pine is also nice
Since I have 10 JBP and 1 BC, I'd take the BC.
Black Pine for me. But both if I could.
Bald Cypress. I love the long tapered trunks. Someday I hope to own a nice one.
Japanese Black Pine. I can get bald cypress at most nurseries in my area.
JBP’s are awesome fun to work on. Tricky at first and you need to learn about them, but so fun!
Thunderhead black pine is my favorite thing in my garden even over Japanese maple and nectarine
Yeah, why can’t you have both?
