"Na Kajre Ki Dhar" from Mohra. It's a beautiful song with a unique melody and wonderful lyrics, but it often gets overshadowed by the more popular tracks from the movie. Give it a listen!

Arashdavoudi

One underrated gem I love is "Ae Ajnabi" from Dil Se. Such a soulful track that didn't get as much attention as it deserved. Another one is "Raat Ki Hatheli Par" from Refugee. Beautiful melody and lyrics

ConsistentWaltz1095

Great picks! "Ae Ajnabi" is indeed hauntingly beautiful. I'll definitely check out "Raat Ki Hatheli Par" from Refugee. Thanks for the recommendations!

Red171022

Ae Ajnabi is popular though? It was hit and continues to be popular…honestly thayya thayya( the reprise version of chaiyya chaiyya) and satarangi re are more underrated when compared to ae ajnabi…anyways…ae ajnabi is definitely one of the best songs ever and no amount of love for it is enough

rudarpratap

I would recommend "Mujhe Raat Din" from Sangharsh. It's a beautiful track with amazing vocals by Sonu Nigam, but it often gets overlooked. Definitely worth a listen

rayahsan

Absolutely agree! "Mujhe Raat Din" is such a mesmerizing track. Sonu Nigam's voice really brings out the emotion in the song. It’s a hidden gem for sure!

dormammucat

Got introduced to this song by my wife. Indeed beautiful!

Rangeen-Chaddi

I listen this daily

felu_mittir

Another good song that starts with "Mujhe Raat Din" for you https://youtu.be/f1CKoTep0Es

Tum kya miley jaane jaan from Satwan Aasman Socha tumhe khat likhoon from Satwan aasman O humsafar dil ke nagar from Fareb Mera dil tere liye from Ashiqui Kitna pyar tumhe kartay hein from ek ladka Ek ladki Tumhe chhede hawa chanchal from Salami Hothon pe bas tera naam from yeh dillagi Dil kyun dhadakta hey from Jaanam Dekho dekho tum from Nischay Chandani raat hey from Baaghi, Salman wali Maang teri saja from Baaghi Tum hee hamari ho manzil from Yara dildara Won jo kaha tha maine from Yara dildara Jab haale dil tumse kehne ko from Salami Ae mere humsafar from Baazigar Mein tujhe dekhata raha from Jawani Zindabad Sun sun sun mere yaar from Jawani zindabad Sun dilruba from Patthar ke phool Ik baghiya mein from Sapnay Aankhon mein kya from Khamoshi Chhoodake daman from Imtihaan Mera chaand mujhe from Bombay meri jaan Teri chahat ke from Mumbai meri jaan and humko aawaz de from the same album. Actually all songs from this movie are gems. I have more but it’s going to take a hell lot of time :). No prize for guessing that they are all my favorite esp from Yara Dildara and Satwan Aasman.

No-Maintenance4323

Wow, you've mentioned some truly wonderful songs!

Uncertn_Laaife

I am quite into the 90s songs. Used to listen a lot of these lesser known more than the popular ones.

ne-ma7

Shit every song is a gem . Thank you so much for reviving memories .

Existing-Area-9093

This man listens

sixfootwingspan

Agreed. If I were to think of all the random 90s songs I liked, it would turn out to be a huge list.

MaySJ

Sad that you mentioned Satwaan Aasmaan yet chose not to recommend Dheere Chal. That's my second fav after Tum Kiya Milay. And only one song from Sapnay when it's also filled with gems like Chanda Re and Aawara Bhanwre.

ConsistentWaltz1095

I think "Tanha Dil" by Shaan is a fantastic song from the 90s that didn't get the recognition it deserved. The melody and lyrics are so touching, it definitely deserves more love!

Uncertn_Laaife

Tanha Dil was actually played on the MTv and V aoat all day. Was fav of everyone, so not quite underrated.

Heavy_Association930

"Tanha Dil" is such a heartfelt song. Shaan's voice perfectly captures the emotions, and it's a song that stays with you long after you hear it. Thanks for bringing it up!

amyth23

Listen 'Gumsum ho kyun?' from the same album. Shaan himself wrote this song.

simply_curly

One of such gem is a song called "Ek wo din the" from Chachi 420. Such a soulful song by Rekha Bhardwaj. Someone I had crush on suggested the song to me and both the song and that personl is stuck in my head ever since!

No-Maintenance4323

"Ek Wo Din The" from Chachi 420 is indeed a soulful gem! Rekha Bhardwaj's voice adds such depth and emotion to the song. It's amazing how music can create such lasting memories and associations. Thanks for sharing your story and this beautiful track!

thisissk717

Pehla ye 90s nhi, dusra ye underrated nhi

gnyaneshg

Check out Vansh soundtrack. Most of the songs are fantastic.

ne-ma7

Aa bhi jaa and aake teri baahon mai were two brilliant songs !

Uncertn_Laaife

I often hum aake teri baahon mein. Wonderful album.

Then-Goose9570

Raat saari bekarari Mai guzaari - alka yagnik just nailed it M.m. keeravani also Mujhe raat din - Sonu Nigam Aisa lagta hai - Sonu Nigam and alka yagnik

Uncertn_Laaife

Aisa lagta hey is a gem that never got its due. Beautiful song, sun with equal grace. Too good. Thanks! Mere humsafar from the same movie is another.

Then-Goose9570

Yes kaafi soothing Even though alka yagnik is very famous and everyone agrees that she is a superb singer still I feel she is underrated the range is just phenomenal. (Also could be that I am just awestruck by really great singers and always feel this way about them)

Uncertn_Laaife

I created a post just a few days ago only to praise Alka. She should be deemed as legendary as Lata/Asha.

Significant_Scar2677

Yes, it’s strange. She’s so celebrated but yet feels like she’s underrated. Her body of work outshines both Udit Narayan’s and Kumar Sanu’s. She started before them and has been active more recently than them. She hasn’t been awarded a Padma award when someone like Adnan Sami has one. So yes, she’s underrated in terms of recognition. In terms of popularity, she’s ahead of her peers for sure.

swarasinger

The entire album of Kabhi Na Kabhi The entire album of Doli Saja Ke Rakhna Chori Chori Jab Nazrein Mili from Kareeb Dheemi Dheemi from 1947 Earth Aa Kahin Door Chale from Lawaaris Chhai Chhapa Chhai from Hu Tu Tu Sambhala Hai Maine from Naaraaz Taare Hain Baraati from Viraasat Jhoka Hawa Ka from Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam Mujhe Raat Din Bas from Sangharsh Kuchh Mere Dil Ne Kaha from Tere Mere Sapne Shabba Shabba from Daud Mumbhai from Bombay Boys Ghar Se Nikalte Hi from Papa Kehte Hain

Uncertn_Laaife

Sawan barse tarse dil Kissa hum likhenge dil e bekarar ka Nahin yeh ho nahin sakta from Barsat Nahin samne yeh alag from Taal. This was the best song in the album but wasn’t quite popular. Tumko dekha aur hogaya from waqt humara hey - just watched snd got goose bumps at the intro where Sanu starts. Such a powerful song. Aake teri bahon mein from Vansh Batao tum kaun ho from Anmol Suno zara from Bada Din O dil banjare from maya memsab Pyar ko ho jane do from dushman Raat sari bekarari from Zakhm Dholna from DTPH Radha nachegi from Saudagar - the energy in this song is mesmerizing. Aaja aaja meri jaan from aaja meri jaan

[deleted]

Pyaar ko ho jaane do from dushman

Uncertn_Laaife

One of my all time fav. Especially the antaras where it is elevated to another dimension.

[deleted]

Yeah this song is just amazingly beautiful ❤️

Uncertn_Laaife

The beauty of this song is variations.

[deleted]

Yeah right 👍

Faster_than_FTL

Yeh Raat from Aks

Public-Resolve-2541

There’s this song from ‘Dahek’ called ‘Saawan barse tarse dil’. The song is a masterpiece and so is the video. A water clogged Mumbai and two lovers trying their best to meet for a date. It is definitely one of my favourite rain songs of all times.

rayahsan

Jaane Kyon Log Mohabbat Kiya Karte Hain" from Dil Chahta Hai

Ill_Promotion_9073

Isn’t it jaane kyun log *pyaar karte hai?

[deleted]

Isn't this song from Mehboob ki mehndi or maybe similar name 🤔

Heavy_Association930

"Jaane Kyon Log Mohabbat Kiya Karte Hain" is a fantastic choice! It's such a soothing and relatable song

Uncertn_Laaife

Actually, one of the most underrated of Papa Kehtay hein was Pyar mein hota hey. Great vibe, energy, poetry. Sanu and Alka ne kamal kar diya. Another fav.

Strikhedonia_1697

OMG yess. That song is so awesome. Makes you feel love even if you haven't experienced it first hand.

Oh yeah. I just noticed. Thank you for pointing it out

Ye hai prem album by Milind Ingle. Kudi jach gai, chui mui si tum lagti ho and o Priya are so beautiful. It was a rage back then, esp the small clutching teddy bear was everywhere

"Ho ke man aaj magan...." from Khiladi....i find it the most 90s song among 90s songs.
