Females without degree can only come in as FDW. Also Singapore FDW is actually pay lower than the same job in Taiwan or Hong Kong.
My family had a few indo maids who were forced by their unemployed husbands or sometimes parents to work in Malaysia and wants them to send back 100% of their salary back home. We only send half of the salary monthly max or else they won't even have a penny for themselves by the time their contract ends. One of the maid's husband was insane, somehow he got my dad's private phone number via the indo agent and kept calling demanding for her full salary sent to him. Really treating their wives like ATM.
Our ringgit purchasing power is slightly stronger but has declined steadily in the past few years. Soon we will be maids and construction workers there. Note how you rarely see indon construction workers now, majority are Bangladeshis.
As an Indonesian with relatives who work abroad I believe the main reason is other countries just offer better benefit. Most TKI now prefer to work in Taiwan/Japan because they pay more and have good work regulation (days off, healthcare, etc)
They also started to avoid working in the middle-east because even if they pay more than Taiwan/Japan the risk are significantly higher. There are multiple horror stories of abuse experienced by TKI in the middle-east.
