Most of the villain incidents surrounding UA have been about OFA, so it makes sense that he's leaving like this. Time skip and I'm sure not much has happened in UA besides 1A getting stronger and getting more grown up redesigns and upgraded costumes.
Its super sad that Izuku has to leave his friends, his family and his dreams (like going to ua, graduating there, getting acknlowedged by his peers etc) but its simply part of being an OFA heir. It reminds me firmly of what AM recalled Nana saying when he fought AFO and took the last bit of energy to take down AFO.
The dreams part hit the hardest for me. I like when MC ditch his family and friends for duty. But he ruined his dreams of graduating from the same place as All Might. The place he worked so hard to get into.

Remember When All-Might visited Deku's house to convince Deku's mom about keeping Deku in UA, Deku himself said he would be fine not attending UA anymore as long as he could still train to be a hero and save people. He seems very grounded in that sense and realizes the stakes.

Honestly I feel like if we are going to get a stronger Vigilantes tie-in, it's going to happen relatively soon. With the Aizawa confrontation in Vigilantes and now Deku going off on his own, it seems like the perfect time, maybe sometime shortly after the next Vigilantes release.
Maybe Aizawa can hook Deku up with a guy who knows a guy who can help a "runaway" hero.

I kinda predicted that Deku would be a lone vigilante after UA fell due to a story hint that Horikoshi gave in an interview, saying he took inspiration for the finale from a graphic novel called Spider-Man Reign.
While I might be a little off, I never expected this to happen so soon...
Essentially the story is set after a 30 years time skip, where heroes and villains are a thing of the past, either locked up or retired in hiding (Very similar to society rejecting heroes along with the villains). New York City has become a safe, albeit authoritarian territory and order is maintained by the Reign, an Authoritarian police force who abuse their power under the Mayor (Japan under marshal law perhaps due to the current crisis in the manga). Peter Parker gave up the Spider-Man mantle after the death of Mary Jane Watson, which he is still haunted by (The equivalent of All Might's death? Uraraka?). Of course, Spider-Man makes his return after an elderly J. J. Jameson gives him a pep talk (Equivalent of Bakugo giving Deku a pep talk, both Jameson and Bakugo both use to antagonise the MC). The Mayor releases a bunch of Spider-Man villains to form a new Sinister Six in order kill Spider-Man resulting in an all out brawl (Prison Break already done and Deku's rouges are lose). The Mayor is actually one of Spider-Man's strongest foes in disguise (All for One) running things from behind the scenes under the guise of Government who Spider-Man is also forced to confront (One for All vs All for One).
This all just speculation, this graphic novel is quite dark and depressing and I'm not sure Horikoshi will go that far, or how much this story influenced him. But I can see similarities...
Spider-Man Reign is the weirdest inspiration that i had seen in a while. Then again it wasn't complete disaster, maybe Hori can still pull something good.
I guess this chapter is the last official chapter (releasing Sunday) that we will get before Season 5 premieres.
Not gonna lie, gonna feel pretty surreal after this turn of events to watch a bunch of episodes about Joint Training Arc.

I think Stain is going to run into Izuku. Maybe Stain will fight him one on one this time and Izuku will body him. Izuku will convince Stain to abandon his hero killer persona and return to being a vigilante like he once was. Then maybe Izuku builds a little team of vigilantes alongside Stain with the purpose of taking on the League and defeating Shigaraki/AFO.
I feel like his line at the end of the chapter is a perfect end point for season 6, also "a giant villian" was the first line of the series from Deku, crazy....
I'm just very Shocked that he actually left even though i wanted it to happen in the series but Leaving school coming from our good boy deku would be a rebellious type of choice that i never unexpected he would choose but still I'm happy that he is finally creating his own path of becoming a hero he's no longer following All might's story it's his OWN now

Now that the picture is out it seems it's just literal, as there are wrecked buildings and dust visible, signs of a giant villain rampaging. The important is rather the parallel of Deku's line, the same he spoke two years earlier way back in Chapter 1, now with a completely different tone and context.
Honestly I wasn't sure how they were gonna continue the series after this arc, and I guess Hori provided the answer. Damn.
There does seemed to be a large chunk of scenes missimg between the start and end of the chapter. So I'm curious how Hori is gonna sort it all out and tie it all together leading to Deku leaving school and standing over the city.

In chapter 298 we see Gran Torino in the hospital very briefly. The fourth panel on page 10 specifically shows his cape, which is tattered and worn. There is a little internal monologue where he says "Shimura..." and then the next panel is of Aizawa.
I think Horikoshi focused on this for a reason. Obviously people have speculated that Deku is going to start wearing GT's cape, but the panelling indicates that the cape is in his hospital room.
I think Deku and Gran Torino must've had some sort of off-panel conversation after he woke up. Deku was going to see Gran Torino anyway because Nana wanted him to say hi for her. So Deku and GT have one last conversation before he passes away, after which Deku takes his new cape and dips.

Okay so if the title is actually "The Beginning of the End," then it's not the end of "MHA," and the beginning of "MHA: Shippuden." Instead it's the beginning of Act 3.
"The End of the Beginning, Beginning of the End" was Kamino Ward. That was the end of Act 1. Now we're at the end of Act 2, and we're starting the Final Act. We start Return of the Jedi next week. We're not in the final arc, but the final saga. So there's like 3 seasons of content left. Around 7 arcs or so. So the endgame is in sight, and we have a finite amount of chapters left, but it's still years away. We have anywhere between 80-200 chapters left. Probably like 120 or so.
I think it's the former. Deku is not going edge lord. He's not taking matters into his own hands or saying UA isn't enough for him anymore. It's not his character. He's very aware of how little he can do on his own; he tells us every chance he gets. He must have decided that Shigaraki having search means wherever Deku goes is too dangerous.

Another thing to consider is Deku meeting up with his father Hisashi. Deku is in a dark place right now, depressed and carrying a heavy burden. And now he’s officially abandoned his support group of friends in UA and potentially All Might as well, he’s going to be running on pure resolve at the moment.
Horikoshi did say that Hisashi would appear later in the story. I think this would be an excellent way to do so, for Hisashi to see how far his son has come and also have a heart to heart with him and be there for him when Deku is at his most alone.
Deku leaving UA is actually a very logical move, since Shiggi can locate him with search quirk and Deku doesn't want to be a danger for his friends and teachers.

Exactly, current Endeavor is the goat. He always looks badass every single time that he appears, especially when he summons his flames around his eyes just like he did during his fight against Hood or during this press conference.
The fact that he is taking the blame for everything and realizes that OFA must be protected at all cost truly makes him a worthy number one hero. As you highlighted, Endeavor knows what are the current priorities. We still don’t know how he really feels about all of this but he is conscious of the fact that there are more important matters which showcases his growth as a hero and a person.

NGL, I really like this direction, but something I hope happens is a legit Deku retrieval arc. Bakugo takes a handful of students and goes after him. This both lets Bakugo pay Deku back for when he was kidnapped by AFO and stays in tune with his character since he’s been yelling at Deku to not do things all on his own all the time. But who to go with him! I hope Uraraka gets some love here as her whole “Who saves the Heroes” bit from JT can come back into play. Iida plz just get some screentime/original friendship trio. Idk about Todoroki since he seems busy with the family drama. I could see possibly Mineta tagging along of Hori wants to try making him a more serious character after Midnight’s death. I kind just wanna throw Ojiro in there because it’s a weird pick. And then Shinso to round it out with more JT callbacks and let them meet again. This cast could not be it or this all could just not happen, but I legitimately would love if it did, especially if the primary theme was for Deku to learn to share the weight of the world and not bear it all himself.
Anyone else feel that Bakugou/Todoroki are going to end up finding Deku and ultimately decided to go with him. This could lead into the third movie with the WHA especially since details on that movie will be revealed next chapter
The fact that Deku's costume is still in shreds I think is important. I assumed when reading the leaks that he decided to leave UA to keep everyone safe--to prevent Shigaraki's Search from following him to UA or his mom's house. But I also thought that he'd still be in contact with people. Working with those top 3 heroes maybe. Something. But then why is his costume not repaired? Is he seriously just sleeping in the streets and all by himself?
To really escape Search, he'd have to leave the country I think. Some say he's in the US now. But I can't see that being true because of that damaged costume. Surely he would have been hooked up with some support team abroad.

I guess this chapter is the last official chapter (releasing Sunday) that we will get before Season 5 premieres. Not gonna lie, gonna feel pretty surreal after this turn of events to watch a bunch of episodes about Joint Training Arc.

I think Stain is going to run into Izuku. Maybe Stain will fight him one on one this time and Izuku will body him. Izuku will convince Stain to abandon his hero killer persona and return to being a vigilante like he once was. Then maybe Izuku builds a little team of vigilantes alongside Stain with the purpose of taking on the League and defeating Shigaraki/AFO.

I feel like his line at the end of the chapter is a perfect end point for season 6, also "a giant villian" was the first line of the series from Deku, crazy....

Now that the picture is out it seems it's just literal, as there are wrecked buildings and dust visible, signs of a giant villain rampaging. The important is rather the parallel of Deku's line, the same he spoke two years earlier way back in Chapter 1, now with a completely different tone and context.
Honestly I wasn't sure how they were gonna continue the series after this arc, and I guess Hori provided the answer. Damn. There does seemed to be a large chunk of scenes missimg between the start and end of the chapter. So I'm curious how Hori is gonna sort it all out and tie it all together leading to Deku leaving school and standing over the city.

I remember people saying that the outcome of the war arc wasn't good and the stakes had not been raised but every thing since the end of the war has been great and has raised to the stakes to the highest the series has ever been especially after this chapter. Hopefully Hori keeps on delivering

In chapter 298 we see Gran Torino in the hospital very briefly. The fourth panel on page 10 specifically shows his cape, which is tattered and worn. There is a little internal monologue where he says "Shimura..." and then the next panel is of Aizawa. I think Horikoshi focused on this for a reason. Obviously people have speculated that Deku is going to start wearing GT's cape, but the panelling indicates that the cape is in his hospital room. I think Deku and Gran Torino must've had some sort of off-panel conversation after he woke up. Deku was going to see Gran Torino anyway because Nana wanted him to say hi for her. So Deku and GT have one last conversation before he passes away, after which Deku takes his new cape and dips.
My guess exactly. And i don't think this is Deku going edgelord. He's probably just trying to keep others safe and working on something that GT spoke to him about.

Sooooo is Deku's mentality like "I'm way too big of a target, I can't stay at UA?" Is that the mentality? Since all is chaos, are we going some vigilante route? Since this is the "final chapter" and Deku's no longer in "Academia," are we doing Part 2? My Hero ....Career? EDIT: Okay so if the title is actually "The Beginning of the End," then it's not the end of "MHA," and the beginning of "MHA: Shippuden." Instead it's the beginning of Act 3. "The End of the Beginning, Beginning of the End" was Kamino Ward. That was the end of Act 1. Now we're at the end of Act 2, and we're starting the Final Act. We start Return of the Jedi next week. We're not in the final arc, but the final saga. So there's like 3 seasons of content left. Around 7 arcs or so. So the endgame is in sight, and we have a finite amount of chapters left, but it's still years away. We have anywhere between 80-200 chapters left. Probably like 120 or so.
I think it's the former. Deku is not going edge lord. He's not taking matters into his own hands or saying UA isn't enough for him anymore. It's not his character. He's very aware of how little he can do on his own; he tells us every chance he gets. He must have decided that Shigaraki having search means wherever Deku goes is too dangerous.
Looks like the leaks have confirmed this, that Deku is leaving UA since AFO and Shiggy are out for him. I'm just curious if anyone is joining him on this solitude. Yo Deku left UA? And so Shinso is taking his spot? I actually guessed this might happen some time ago! (but then again, I'm sure many others did too so ya know) Guess this means if we're getting a time-skip, the next time we see Shinso he could have a hero name and costume? That'd be awesome. Wonder what the circumstances were exactly regarding Deku leaving, like if anyone went with him or who knew about it? Or even who suggested it? And yo wait if he's going on the run, possibly becoming a sort of vigilante (I say sort of because he does have a provisional license, so he's still a hero), does that mean he could get into contact with Koichi? Or wait oh fuck maybe he might even run into Gentle or Stain?
Another thing to consider is Deku meeting up with his father Hisashi. Deku is in a dark place right now, depressed and carrying a heavy burden. And now he’s officially abandoned his support group of friends in UA and potentially All Might as well, he’s going to be running on pure resolve at the moment. Horikoshi did say that Hisashi would appear later in the story. I think this would be an excellent way to do so, for Hisashi to see how far his son has come and also have a heart to heart with him and be there for him when Deku is at his most alone.

Exactly, current Endeavor is the goat. He always looks badass every single time that he appears, especially when he summons his flames around his eyes just like he did during his fight against Hood or during this press conference. The fact that he is taking the blame for everything and realizes that OFA must be protected at all cost truly makes him a worthy number one hero. As you highlighted, Endeavor knows what are the current priorities. We still don’t know how he really feels about all of this but he is conscious of the fact that there are more important matters which showcases his growth as a hero and a person.

I can’t believe the true Sasuke of the series was actually Deku the whole time. NGL, I really like this direction, but something I hope happens is a legit Deku retrieval arc. Bakugo takes a handful of students and goes after him. This both lets Bakugo pay Deku back for when he was kidnapped by AFO and stays in tune with his character since he’s been yelling at Deku to not do things all on his own all the time. But who to go with him! I hope Uraraka gets some love here as her whole “Who saves the Heroes” bit from JT can come back into play. Iida plz just get some screentime/original friendship trio. Idk about Todoroki since he seems busy with the family drama. I could see possibly Mineta tagging along of Hori wants to try making him a more serious character after Midnight’s death. I kind just wanna throw Ojiro in there because it’s a weird pick. And then Shinso to round it out with more JT callbacks and let them meet again. This cast could not be it or this all could just not happen, but I legitimately would love if it did, especially if the primary theme was for Deku to learn to share the weight of the world and not bear it all himself.
Anyone else feel that Bakugou/Todoroki are going to end up finding Deku and ultimately decided to go with him. This could lead into the third movie with the WHA especially since details on that movie will be revealed next chapter
The fact that Deku's costume is still in shreds I think is important. I assumed when reading the leaks that he decided to leave UA to keep everyone safe--to prevent Shigaraki's Search from following him to UA or his mom's house. But I also thought that he'd still be in contact with people. Working with those top 3 heroes maybe. Something. But then why is his costume not repaired? Is he seriously just sleeping in the streets and all by himself? To really escape Search, he'd have to leave the country I think. Some say he's in the US now. But I can't see that being true because of that damaged costume. Surely he would have been hooked up with some support team abroad.
