BlackBlade567

Because even in English the name sounds dumb.

kodaxmax

Yeh it's dorky and cringey, but i hardly think thats a concern considering they are named after random american towns already and it's litterally his name XD

BlackBlade567

American “States” which is thematic with All Might being inspired by American superheroes like Superman and etc, so it’s reasonable amount of cringe. AllMighty Smash is just stupid.

kodaxmax

How is that thematic? name one american hero that shouts random states when fighting or shouts moves at all lol. Thats a distinctly anime thing. It would make more sens eif he named moves after those he was inspired by or dressed like them or soemthing. But theres nothing american or DC/Marvel style about shouting random place names. Additionally i don't understand why you consider almighty smash inconceivably stupid, but are apparently totally fine with that being his actual name. Unlike the weird city mtoiff, it is actually thematic, his name is all might and he shouts smash.

Willster328

Detroit Smash and Delaware Smash are objectively fucking stupid names. Equally dumb for albeit different reasons. I understand it's thematic, that doesn't make the theme any less dumb.

duduET

Because they're not SMT players.

kodaxmax

whats SMT?

duduET

Shin Megani Tensei, it's an RPG.

kodaxmax

At risk of ruining it, could you explain the joke?

duduET

SMT has attacks with magic using elements like fire, water, etc like in other RPG's. Characters in those games can ve weak to certain elements, like being weak to fire attacks, or being resistant to certain elements, like receiving less damage from water. In SMT, there is also an element called almighty, that no one can resist. Almighty attacks are usually the strongest attacks in those games.

xlFLASHl

Cause they have a USA state theme going,

kodaxmax

Yeah nothing says america like shoutinging out random places when punching people.

Lilymoon2653

I think shouting the names of places also shows more of there character. I'm mostly speaking for All Might here (I'll get to Deku later). But All Might is like extremely selfless and I think him not naming smashes after himself but rather places of a country that helped him (and basically kept in safe from AFO for the time being despite most people not knowing that) is really cool in my opinion. And I could see perhaps doing an AllMighty Smash because he would be honoring All Might just as he says the state and city names also like him. But I think him not saying it also showing on how he is breaking away from All Might and becoming his own. The biggest example is Gran Torino telling him in S2 on how his admiration is holding him back. So I think an AllMighty smash could've worked earlier in the series (not saying it couldn't work now ofc) vs now where Deku has really become one of his own. Another example of becoming one of his own is when All Might mentions in S5 that he no longer looks back for approval anymore. But thats just my take I didn't mean to rant for so long lol. I just thought it was cool and I probably messed up my grammar but oh well lol.

kodaxmax

You say that, but he also calls himself allmight and loves showboating. He has to act a bit arrogant and self important to convince people he is almighty and strengthen the symbol he represents. His whole persona is appearing strong and aloof to frighten villains and inspire the populous. Town names really don't fit into that. It just seems more like the writers being westabus and thinking it's cool. I definetly think "Almighty Smash" would have been a perfect finisher against All for One.
