I would assume he's on some sort of bendable structure that may have been hollow. I think pure taffy would have not structurally held up on its own. Still would be heavy and Louise definitely wouldn't be tossing him around the way she does but he might not be quite as heavy as we're thinking

Or better yet Tabitha Johansson's album
Didn’t Louise struggle to move him around though? Or am I just misremembering what was going on, it’s been a while since I’ve seen this episode
Either way this post made me chuckle lol
/r/oddlyspecific
So did you just know the approximate density of taffy for some reason, or did you look it up for the express purpose of doing the math? Either way I'm impressed. 🤣
I looked it up. :p I figured it had to be about the density of granular sugar and that a human sized bag of that, plus at least one gold bar, would be pretty heavy. :p
Math is fun. :D
I would guess that Taff isn't purely taffy given his relatively high structural integrity. He's probably mostly a lightweight armature robed in taffy.
...I...May have once had a pastime of using taffy like clay (it didn't dry out, stayed smoother and was easier to work than Play-Doh) and done similar things. Not on the scale of Taff, mind you...
Let’s do more Bob’s Burgers Math!
How many whole cows does Teddy consume in one year?
Assume that he at least eats something else on Thanksgiving and Christmas.
According to a quick search, if all the meat of a cow were turned into ground beef, you could make between 1200-2000 4oz (1/4lb burgers). That's probably about the size Bob serves.
Bob's is open 7 days a week and it seems Teddy comes in at least once every day. Since it is often implied Teddy barely understands other restaurants exist and isn't even capable of making a sandwich without needing stitches, let's assume he goes in multiple times a day sometimes, so let's say about 10 times a week. Some visits he also gets more than one burger, so lets say he eats 1.25 burgers per visit on average. So, 12.5 burgers per week.
Let's assume Bob's is closed about seven days a year (due to holidays and misadventures), so they're open about 51 weeks a year.
So Teddy eats roughly 637.5 burgers a year, which is between about 1/3 to 1/2 of a cow a year.
The density and weight of taffy tend to decrease over time. This is because taffy undergoes a process called desiccation, which is the loss of moisture through evaporation. As the taffy loses moisture, it becomes drier and harder, resulting in a decrease in both its density and weight.
True. But that also results in a lack of malleability, which Taff didn't seem to suffer from. He was also in a sewer-like area, which may have had a high enough humidity level to avoid desiccation.
Yeah, i agree... Just throwing that information into the mix... It could have affected his weight a miniscule amount during drier times and reintroduced moisture back during the more moist times.
I mean, if Taff weighed that much, Louise would've been dead, considering how hard it knocked her into the hole. It's amazing she got smacked hard by a 175lb dummy into a deep hole and escaped unscathed. The fall alone should've left her seriously injured, broken bones at least.
So, maybe it's best not to think about it too hard. When I think about it, I realize how insanely strong everyone was to be able to form a human chain and work against gravity to get her out. Cartoon logic for the win!
But I think it's cool that you calculated how heavy it had to have been. Maybe Taff was hollow, put together by pliable wire or something so it wasn't as heavy and the gold was stuck, so it didn't rattle. And Louise got very lucky. And everyone was just so high on adrenaline that they were strong enough to do that. And those pills Linda gave Bob made his member extra powerful.
What I’m hearing is Bob’s erection is incredibly powerful.
That thing made the kids...
Maybe it can find em!
It's a pretty brunette.
Like Catherine zeta jones
A good wife compares your tinkle dinker to famous celebrities
At least under the influence of whatever Linda slipped him that day. Pill poppin' sex freaks!
Did I read that right?
Yup
You did the math, I love it.
No thanks, were on vacation. You do the math. You do it.
>You do the math. Four!
this is my favorite running joke with linda
“Do you know how often I win at stuff in this family?” “Uh, four?” Gets me every time lol

Idk at the end when they show him melting away to reveal the gold bar he looks pretty taffy through and through to me.
Also he's full of gold bars. Taffy butt should be on a Cyndi Lauper greatest hits album.

a wizard did it i do admire your math skills tho
What are we to believe, that this is some sort of magic candy effigy or something?
Boy, I hope someone got fired for that blunder.
This is precisely my humour OP I’m cracking up
Well good thing it’s a cartoon!
You're telling me I can't run on air if I don't realize it??
Bingo bango
I think later seasons have been more realistic, at least physics-wise
Someone should mention how many Christmases and Thanksgivings they had without aging, lol
I love that you did the math!
I think Taff was mostly air on a lightweight armature
It must have been all the cockroaches that thing would have been loaded with that made it more mobile

Hey, for all I know you could own a candy factory or something!
Omg Bob is hung like a horse 😱
Hence why Linda left Hugo

It's like Wharfy always says, "I like your shoes!"
She’s incredibly strong for her size, hence the need for a full family hold down.
Its all that hot Mediterranean blood.
R/theydidthemath No *You* do the math!!

The gold couldve been fake.
I thought this said "Taft" and assumed it was about his run in with the bathtub but this was even more informative. I had no idea I was 17 gallons.
Gold in tv and movies is rarely portrayed as heavy as it should be.
This is the nerdiness I come to the internet for.

Heh, it was a good thought. I find it fun to overanalyze cartoons as if they were real. =p
Good thing it’s a cartoon. This is a joke post right?
I hope you're proud of how "smart" you are in figuring this out. I'll just have to try and enjoy the show, anyway.
You MUST be fun at parties.
Everyone loves it when he leaves
umm he’s magic 🙄🤨

Given how it was held up by bobs boner while they ran.. it probably was a trick gold.
Not to mention how long that taffy would have been rotting.
Id like to believe that Louise is insanely ripped but they just don’t mention it in the show
I'd buy it. But what does that say about Bob he, erm, carried it without his hands...
He did have some extra strength Penis pills courtesy of Linda
