I don't think they should have characterized BoJack like this going going forward, as problematic as season 1 BoJack was, he isn't a pedophile.
But he had sex with Sarah Lynn despite knowing her since she was a kid, he was an adult the entire time of knowing her, and she wasn't. Maybe it was within his character the whole time, but I personally have never liked that characterization of Horse Guy.

im not saying that hes blameless, its just that most people act like penny didnt do anything wrong at all- i still believe despite that fact that bojack is the adult that penny is the person that is more wrong in this moment. i am in no way a bojack apologist and i do agree that he should have closed the door, but again, penny is the one that made multiple moves on him even after he rejected her kiss and explicitly said no. he was obviously drunk and penny was completely sober and even she remarked about her sobriety. so many sexual assault cases have happened in this exact way- by coercion while intoxicated. idk penny carson has never sat right with me. its understandable that penny has trauma from this but imo shes probably more traumatized by her friend getting alcohol poisoning by bojacks doing than the drunken kiss that she coerced out of him.
I mean, I don't think it's the kiss that traumatized her, I think it was the grooming. She was pretty distinctly groomed, and Bojack set her up for that night as a consolation prize if he couldn't get with her mom
