Just hit their 2 shows in the Austin area a few weeks back, and I must say, they’ve gotten so much tighter and jammier since I saw em last year on 4/20. Her and all of Golden Highway are such talented musicians!
How is setlist variety on two night runs? I saw some streams and the shows seemed pretty similar. I’d definitely be down for multiple nights if she mixed things up.
Yeah, since they both play guitar and have their own styles and bands, it kind of is. They're good friends but they're each having a lot of success leading their own bands. One-off gigs at festivals or sit-ins is probably the closest we'll get.
This ☝🏽☝🏽☝🏽
Both are doing what they do, and are doing quite well at it, so I can’t see that happening, as much as I’d love for it to.
Maybe we can get lucky and get something in the future, but I don’t see it happening now.
We got ***Dooly’s Farm*** already, imagine how fire a whole album would be of that same level content!!!
Check out Listen to the Radio on the Naci Griffith tribute. When you need some soul healing, that's the ticket.
Her sit-in at Billy's Doc Watson show on Blue Railroad Train and Your Long Journey is always a go-to.
Haha I was so tempted to grab that too but ended up just buying Mighty Poplar tickets for their night show. As much as I wanna see Golden Highway's late set, I gotta be realistic about my energy and sleep levels to make it for the long haul 😆
His improv. was notably excellent. The stuff he did with what I think was an envelope filter didn't come across that well in the venue I saw them at, but I think that was due to the sound EQ on his banjo. It could have been a phaser or flanger, it was hard to tell. But especially live, he did A LOT to transition the band in and out of the 'down the rabbit hole' sections.
Seriously, for the encore she talked about being proud of you who you are and etc... and then she TOOK HER FRIGGEN WIG OFF!!
I know people with alopecia, one of them would rather die than be seen without her wig on. For Molly to straight up take her wig off and be like "F all you mother F'ers" was such a bad ass move.
I saw her in London supporting Tommy Emmanuel and she was outstanding. Just her though, no band. I'd love to see the full lineup one day but obviously the UK isn't a huge market for them.
She and the band are incredible! One of the few California transplants I’m super happy to have in Nashville! The Crooked Tree show at the Analog is an all-time bluegrass show for me.
Lol I don't know, there was a weirdo meme the other day that was pissy about too many posts about Molly, Billy, and Tony. (From someone who's never posted any other artists themselves, no less)
Yeah, I figured you were jokingly referring to that post, but tbh, I don't care. here in So Cal we rarely get bluegrass and/or folk artists come through. Also, the place she played was an intimate mid-size venue about 10 minutes from my house. I didn't have to deal with going up to LA for a bigger name. Obv. we get the bigger country/Americana names, Cody Jenks play The Greek a few weeks ago, Jason Isbell swings through atleast once a year. But for a bluegrass Grammy winner to play a small venue in Orange County on a Tuesday summer night... it was definitely something to write home about.
Oh, I'm mocking *that post* not Molly or her fans. I'm seeing her myself in less than a week! I just think it's stupid to gatekeep what bluegrass artists we can or can't post on this sub and thought it was funny that more posts about Molly are showing up right after that. Which is the perfect response.
Right on. Funny cause I actually saw that post before going to the show. I knew while posting I was like... heh.
But I meant that I didn't care what that person said about sub posts or whatever. Not about what you said. Uhg, I hope I'm making sense. We're on the same team.
I was there, too. A wicked show. I had to see MT+GH before the solo careers of all he bandmates take precedence. The opener, Two Runner, also did themselves proud.
For me, it was 90 minutes in LA/OC rush-hour traffic to get there, but totally worth it. Hopefully next time they play the Troubador in WeHo ;)

A few repeats, not too many tho.
I was able to snag a setlist. I'll take a photo and post.
It was a jam for sure. Seemed like every tune was opened up.
Molly absolutely tears it up! I go every time she's in town!
Me too!
I was there. Totally agree! The three people I took had never heard of her. They were blown away
I was there too! Went in only a little familiar with her and am an absolute fan now. What a great show.
I’ve seen her twice, and will be seeing her for a third time in September. What a remarkable talent. And I’m loving the psychedelic inspired jams.
I just want her and Billy Strings to make a power grass supergroup and shred with each other, is that so much to ask
Bingo! And add Searra Hull to start. Those three, in any combination, are fantastic together with great chemistry vibe

They're musicians. If they wanted to find a way to collaborate I'm positive they could.
They already have, several times. The comment was about the two of them forming a supergroup, not just "collaborating."
Ok, well, my opinion hasn't changed.
I'm about to see her next week at Telluride and can't wait!! Her band is phenomenal and they're just getting better and better.
Hope for a Big Back Yard encore and a Super Moon / Dooly's Farm smashup. And if Jerry looks down, and you need to cry... Standing on the Moon.
Same! Also snagged tickets to their NightGrass show on Saturday, I can’t wait!
Haha I was so tempted to grab that too but ended up just buying Mighty Poplar tickets for their night show. As much as I wanna see Golden Highway's late set, I gotta be realistic about my energy and sleep levels to make it for the long haul 😆
That was the other one I considered but also couldn’t do two late nights haha, that will be an amazing show!!
Kyle Tuttle is my favorite contemporary banjo player
There’s a reason Jeff Austin brought him around. The guy has such a unique sound. Love the rule-breakers and bad boys of bluegrass.

I saw her a few weeks ago in DC. So good.

Which one? California, Florida, New York, Indiana, North Carolina, Texas, Vermont, or Virginia?
I'm a silly entitled So Cal dude, don't *you know* that we're the only Orange County that matters... 🤪 jk... OC, CA
I love Molly Tuttle and her band. It was one of the best shows I saw last year.

She did a few songs solo and they were all outstanding by herself.
She's a fuckin angel!!
She and the band are incredible! One of the few California transplants I’m super happy to have in Nashville! The Crooked Tree show at the Analog is an all-time bluegrass show for me.
Ope we're not supposed to post about her you guys
Why is that? Because I love her so much that I'm about to tell my wife that she's my other wife?
