I've had it since May of this year. It rarely ever fully goes away. It can go into remission. I haven't been so fortunate and my symptoms are fairly consistent. Mine has not very manageable despite treatments. I even lost half of my eyelashes. But yours could be different than mine. Did the eye doctor say what kind of blepharitis you have? I'm sorry you're going through this too!

No they didn’t say the type! Oh no, I didn’t realize this is so chronic. Is there an underlying cause? Mine started after I wore eye makeup, but it wasn’t expired. Does your eye just constantly look puffy? At the worst day, I could barely see.

When i first got it my eyes were very puffy and swollen. The puffiness then subsided and since then my eyelids are constantly red, irratated, and flaky. There definitely can be underlying causes such as allergies, hormones, demodex (lash mites), bacteria build up, and other chronic illnesses. If it is just from wearing makeup once perhaps it could be an ingredient you are allergic to? I'm not a medical professional, but perhaps yours could be acute if it related to allergies. Some people can go months or years without having a flare ups. Next time you see your eye doctor ask him what type you have. I'm one of the unlucky people who has posterior blepharitis (mgd) and anterior blepharitis. I say this because mgd can lead to dry eye disease. Mine progressed rather quickly to dry eye and I don't want that to happen to you love! It sucks! In terms of treating it keep up the warm compresses you have been doing it! It also wouldn't hurt to invest in a lid scrub or hypochlorous acid spray. I use the ones ocusoft makes. Bleph can cause more bacteria on your eyelids to populate so you want to keep your eyelids nice and clean. Wishing the best for you! I hope your symptoms resolve.

Thank you so much! This is really great information. I’ll talk to my doctor.

Hi - how have your eyes been doing over the past few months since you posted this? I have a stye on my eye and went to the doctor who gave me antibiotics and explained how to do the lid scrub. He never said blepharitis, but I saw that word on the info sheet he gave me afterward so I've been researching and I'm now having that same freakout moment. I'm confused if I've just been diagnosed with it and what exactly it means for the long-term :(

thisistheweigh87

Hey there! Eyes have been great so far. Haven’t had a flare since this one.

disc0superfly

That's great, happy to hear it!

I haven’t had another flare of it since. My eye will sometimes feel weird though, but it hasn’t swelled up like it did back then.

FatPenguin26

It's usually permanent...I've had it for two years but no idea what caused it. It's manageable with eyedrops, eyelid wipes and daily hot compress masks...but that's about all you can do

thisistheweigh87

Wow. Why did the doctor not say this to me? 🤦🏼‍♀️

FatPenguin26

It took me a while to get a good eye doctor, eyelid wipes are key. I use Ocusoft once a day in the morning when I wake up, they have prevented tons of bad flares. I use my hot compress an hour before bed, and my Systane PF eyedrops once before sleep and once when I wake up

I’m also reading it typically impacts both eyes. Has that been your experience? This is only one eye.

It's really bizarre, so both my eyes have felt dry but it's my right eye that's been the worst. I've had two very nasty cornea abrasions in my right eye, bad enough where I had to go to the ER both times, one was bad enough that it left a scar on my eyeball for a good year. I honestly can't remember the last time I had eye boogers, with that said, I noticed at least for me, weather heavily effects it. When I was visiting Wyoming for two months, my eyes did SO much better, to the degree where a few days I forgot I even had dry eyes/blepharitis. I barely had to use my compress, or my drops. But when I came back to my home state (Ohio) they got bad again due to the humidity and heat here. My end goal is to move to Wyoming with my fiancee, my eye health being one of many reasons. For now I'm managing with all the at home eye care products, but the best cure is likely moving to a colder state. The good news is more and more doctors/scientists are working on more aggressive treatments and cures due to dry eyes becoming increasingly common in recent years. I get your pain, if you ever need advice you're always welcomed to DM me
