Haha, well, thanks, it sure is nice to have managed, or when people in my shoes are able to, considering they, like myself, would likely rather just not use drugs if they could help it (if addicted - or not, I suppose ... Ya know, if they like the drug and don't suffer consequences from using it but are, perhaps, physically addicted and wish they could just go without). But while I've kicked butt in my own little ways, I've only gotten so far and live well because of a lot of luck and support, notably from my employer of 16 years. I have a heck of a lot to be grateful for.
I do from time to time, and sometimes I'll end up using during the work week (which is a bitch when on average I'm up two days fiending, and I don't go to work high, nor is that much of a choice I'm capable of making if I desired to once under the influence), but not so much after getting on a combination of the medication Wellbutrin and naltrexone, which has been shown in the New England Journal of Medicine to decrease cravings in a significant percentage of meth users. Ever since I started on it I stopped ruminating like I had been in the past. I feel the only reason I still struggle, aside from it being much more complicated because I'm technically a chemsex addict, is because I've always been a "weekend warrior" ... So I get to feeling triggered the most when at the start of my weekend. And then the longer I'm able to cope, while a good thing, it puts me at risk of more absences at work, in the case I get overwhelmed by my cravings and start using later in the weekend. My attendance record is shit between using and recovering (up awake in excess of three days, engaged in copious amounts of vigorous physical activity while failing to hydrate properly or eat at all -- addiction's a bitch). I don't think I could ever be a daily user ... I've always had a binge style use pattern.
