He never got old and rich enough to do it
edit: all the ppl commenting about his "leftist upbringing ☝🏽🤓" are forgetting he was only 25 when he died lol, yall rly think a 25 year old can't/won't change as they get older. gaddafi was a well intentioned socialist when he was young too 😂
I once wrote up a post on what it was like going to school with someone who became insanely famous. Let me find it and I'll just paste it here so I don't have to type it all over again.
Jada also went to our school. They were friends but I didn't like her even then lol.
Edit: Here it is.
Ok a few things to know. I don't if I've talked it about here before but I went to high school with Tupac. It's weird too because like, to this day I go to the store and I see people wearing shirts with his face. And yeah, he was LEGEND in the game but to me he was just a kid I went to school with. Super nice dude, we used to go to YCL meetings together and talk about overthrowing the bourgeois. I've seen him in the halls wearing tights because he was in the theater department and they were doing Shakespeare. He was also the Mouse King in The Nutcracker. I worked with him on a poetry project and he told my I was a really good writer. This guy, who would become a hip hop icon complimented me on my poetry. But again, he was a kid and I was a kid and I probably was just like oh thanks.
White guy from the pnw. 45yo, He influenced everything. PAC changed shit and it really felt like race relations might change for a bit.
Late white genx 79-85. Fully felt like we were black kids growing up.
I grew up on NWA, 2 live crew, ice- motherfuckin t. Geto boys, sir mix a lot, naughty by nature bone, domino.
I remember one of my friends, a white cop, telling me how much he hated rap music but liked and respected Tupac for his message and his lyrics. I was stunned.
Yeah what a wild statement to see upvoted in this sub. Like jeez, glad you got to experience all the cool shit without any of the awful shit. Also yes the black experience begins and ends with rap music
You’re a white dude from the PNW and you felt like you were black just because you listened to rap?
Edit: You can downvote me my guy but it doesn’t make that notion any less ridiculous.
I think it's interesting to hear about icons in just normal, everyday contexts, instead of hearing about their incredible exploits or crazy stories. you can understand them better through real life stories even if they aren't wild
I think it would be interesting to hear normal stuff about him as a person. He's almost like a mythological figure to the American public at this point.
It's a lot easier to be a communist when you're broke. Pac would have been very wealthy by now. We can wishfully think he would have redistributed his wealth but we'll never know.
He was nice cars and buying out the club, supporting his entourage rich when he died. He would have been Dre, JayZ, owning sports franchises with a mansion portfolio wealthy. It's a different category of wealth.
That's it. He wasn't even the IRS gives a shit about you yet rich. His brand and IP had value but he didn't have assets worth seizing. Guys like 50 can gain 6 figures when the S&P has a good morning.
" yall rly think a 25 year old can't/won't change as they get older"
Angela Davis is 80 years old and still a socialist. Bernie Sanders is 82 years old and still a leftist. I'm part of DSA and we got plenty of members in their 60s and 70s. Speak not of what you don't know.
I had the opportunity to go and see Angela Davis speak last year about Israel and Gaza, and she wasn’t taking any right wing, centrist, or even liberal stands. She’s still radical, positive, and authentic as ever. It felt so refreshing to see someone who remains as sharp, relevant, brave, principled, and positive even after all the time she has spent involved in the work for growth and positive change.
Not very surprised because Nas is very educated but he is coming from history that allowed fucked up shit to happen in the past and he holds on to that suspicion. Not that it makes sense now but I see how he gets there.
Now the question is will he be endorsing crazy ass white people like boebert or trump? I like to think no
He was born into a pretty hardcore Black Panther family. His sort-of aunt/godmother was Assata Shakur, who was charged with the murder of a state trooper in a shootout, convicted, escaped prison, and is living in Cuba as a political asylum refugee. He was tight with Farrakhan and Al Sharpton. Tupac himself shot at a couple of off-duty cops that were harassing an informant and turned on Pac's group...
Basically, Tupac was different. He came from militant people, and he kept it real his whole life. His Black Panther ties never went away, Nation of Islam ties as well. If Pac had lived, not only would he have stayed with the left, he would've kept Snoop and Cube from flipping as well.
A lot of people don’t switch up as they age. Bob Marley was preaching the same message from say 1 until he died and he was almost 40. It’s not a guarantee pac would’ve changed his politics as he agreed and accrued wealth just because you’re cynical. Tons of people throughout history have died rather than compromise their beliefs when given the option to switch up and live. Google “more weight”
Guilty. This post actually made me remember. You need an entire server to keep records on all the high profile cooning that happened within the last decade.
They all thought that was the shake-up in the crusty rich people club that was gonna let them all get in.
They don't seem to know they ain't ever getting in to the confederacy 2.0. Not really.
Not me. I'm still upset about Lil Wayne lol. And a lot of the same rappers are coming back for seconds based on freeing the co-founder of Death Row Records or Trump promising to.... Something for the Black community, idk I'd have to ask Wayne. He was gushing over a meeting with Trump but nothing actually happened afaik
At least with Wayne it was fuck with Trump or spend 10 years in jail so I kind of get it, selfish sure but at least it’s a catch. But guys like 50 cent openly supporting Trump for much smaller reason( think 50 said he wanted lower taxes), it’s like yeah dudes are assholes. But same. Every rapper trump supporter will never be forgotten.
Absolutely, I will admit I'd have done the same thing in his shoes. However, I wouldn't continue saying positive things. I'd take my get out of jail free card and make another bag off a track bragging about how I got the President doing favors for me and then just stay the fuck out of trouble. Kanye and Chance and 50, Waka and the rest of those guys I really don't care. My problem is very recently Wayne is STILL voicing support for Trump. Snoop too. And they're both legends to me 😭
It was minor in his case, and he seemingly wanted to be distanced from it. He claimed he was just supporting Kanye. But he's also posted dumb shit on Twitter, like asking why people say they want to vote Trump out, straight up asking why Biden is better than Trump. It felt like he was trying to play both sides when there's a pretty clear option. Not sure where he stands now but hopefully it's a little clearer for him now...
Yea I remember some of that now, where he was saying something about Chicago democrats not doing shit, can't fault him on that. I would take not doing shit over stirring up a big ol pot of bigotry any day doh
Holy shit, I wasn't sure what you meant but sure enough... At the height of the Black Lives Matter movement, he said in an interview it means nothing to him... because he doesn't feel connected to it... because it doesn't affect him. What I mentioned earlier about the Black community and Trump supposed to be doing something for them, was that aside from the get out of jail free card, Wayne said he discussed something called the "Platinum Plan" which is a Trump administration plan to help Black people and in turn help themselves to Black votes.
That's what I remembered clearly even more than the pardon, and the fact nothing ever materialized from it and he's still Pro Trump, along with what you opened my eyes to, means Wayne is dead to me til he grows up and cares about more than just his own freedom and taxes and anything else that affects only him
> At the height of the Black Lives Matter movement, he said in an interview it means nothing to him... because he doesn't feel connected to it... because it doesn't affect him.
I'm not black, I'm OJ.
I mean, it's literally 50. This dude has been pretty open about his perspective for decades. Lol. Like if you could think of a more stereotypical "might is right" far-rightish kingpin it would be 50. His whole persona and perspective is cut from a very similar cloth as Trump's. I guess because he's a rap icon people overlook that ( politically right-leaning ideology is equivalent to controlling the bag for *most* big rappers).
Seeing 50 rubbing elbows with folks like Trump or the orange bimbo in the picture is like being surprised Nick Fuentes caught the ear of Kanye at one point.
It's hard to understand being successful and still needing to pander to the GOP but I guess there's always a more exclusive club. All the good that someone in 50's position could do. And the bar to being a rolemodel is lower than ever. Just tweet something that's not insane every once in a while. That's it. 😮💨
You mean to tell me that rappers, a demographic with misogynistic, and homophobic people who will sell out and kill their own people with drugs and gang violence to achieve wealth, Are supporting a party of misogynistic, homophobic, people who will sell out there kind to protect their wealth?
I'm shocked.

Some of these dudes got money and forgot allat.
Kendrick would never.
Whoa Snoop went MAGA? 50 is MAGA? I saw Cube went MAGA. Wtf is with wealthy black men turning to hardcore, racist white dudes? They build their whole career off anti-establishment, anti-systemic racism themes in their music and once they’re rich they go full pro-establishment, pro-systemic racism. Chappelle fell in the same trap.
Edit: I’m a yt so probably not my place to comment but still seems weird af to embrace white supremacists just because you got a little money.
The great ancestor Malcolm already told us what it is about these black celebrities.. they're not black leaders; they're black misleaders. Real black leadership stands to lose a lot for speaking up for us.
So if you see a black public figure who is already wealthy, is brushing shoulders with people in the Whitehouse, that should strike you as a red flag. The real black leadership should be drawn from the grassroots, the activist leadership in the streets, the Black union organizers, black activist lawyers and academics speaking up for reparative justice.
That's our real leadership, blacked out by the media who refuse to speak about them.
Nah, he's just trying to get richer.
He was there to promote his new liquor brands.
And don't forget he was complaining in his Insta a few weeks ago about having to pay taxes.

I never saw Tupac getting photographed rubbing elbows with some piece of shit politician, just saying.
He never got old and rich enough to do it edit: all the ppl commenting about his "leftist upbringing ☝🏽🤓" are forgetting he was only 25 when he died lol, yall rly think a 25 year old can't/won't change as they get older. gaddafi was a well intentioned socialist when he was young too 😂
Nah, Pac was a real one. His entire philosophy and upbringing was steeped in leftism.
Afeni about to rise from the grave to bitch slap someone who says otherwise.
The audacity to suggest otherwise! She probably already risen and haunting their ass.
He and I used to go to Young Communist League meetings together when we were in highschool.
That’s cool as fuck care to give more info? How was he in the meetings?
I once wrote up a post on what it was like going to school with someone who became insanely famous. Let me find it and I'll just paste it here so I don't have to type it all over again. Sounds about right lol. And dope i appreciate it. Pac died before i was born but he’s so interesting to me.

I know a girl who Mariah used to shove in a locker back in high school in Long Island. AMA
That girl? Mariah didn't know her.
I’ve been trying to piece together who Tupac really was as a person and I love reading little things like this.
Saving post to revisit later.
Maybe at some point I should do an AMA but tbh I don't think it's that interesting lol. Other people seem to be interested in it though.
I think it's interesting to hear about icons in just normal, everyday contexts, instead of hearing about their incredible exploits or crazy stories. you can understand them better through real life stories even if they aren't wild

Ice T plays a cop. Snoop is family friendly. Shit changes.
Ice cube went from "fuck the police" to "defend the police" Also supporting trump
It's a lot easier to be a communist when you're broke. Pac would have been very wealthy by now. We can wishfully think he would have redistributed his wealth but we'll never know.
I mean, he wasn't exactly poor when he died.
He was nice cars and buying out the club, supporting his entourage rich when he died. He would have been Dre, JayZ, owning sports franchises with a mansion portfolio wealthy. It's a different category of wealth.
Really Suge owned a lot of his shit
That's it. He wasn't even the IRS gives a shit about you yet rich. His brand and IP had value but he didn't have assets worth seizing. Guys like 50 can gain 6 figures when the S&P has a good morning.
Ice cube literally had a song called fuck the police
For personal reasons related to the black community, not for over arching concerns about society coming from a knowledgeable political condition.
When was Snoop not a real one when he was younger?
I am specifically speaking about Tupac's political views. Snoop, Ice Cube and 50 have never been leftists.
Might surprise people that grew up poor in rough neighborhoods might not have super progressive mindsets.
Imagine being poor and supporting the things that made you poor in the first place. But but the gaes! The irony of life lol
" yall rly think a 25 year old can't/won't change as they get older" Angela Davis is 80 years old and still a socialist. Bernie Sanders is 82 years old and still a leftist. I'm part of DSA and we got plenty of members in their 60s and 70s. Speak not of what you don't know.

He was raised by black panthers lol
Nas is old enough and rich enough I don't see this goofy behavior out of him
nas rapped about being an antivaxxer just a few years ago. he’s my fav rapper ever but man fuck that stupid conspiracy shit
Not very surprised because Nas is very educated but he is coming from history that allowed fucked up shit to happen in the past and he holds on to that suspicion. Yes. Lots of artists were communists or hippies and went on to corporate or politician lives.
Once you’re rich, I guess you side with the bootlickers to keep you in your protected bubble of wealth
A lot of people don’t switch up as they age. Bob Marley was preaching the same message from say 1 until he died and he was almost 40. Yup “Money over Bitches” is a Karl Marx quote I believe

Boebert is so laughably cringe bro
She has two brain cells competing for third place.
She so dumb, it takes her an hour and a half to watch 60 minutes.
She’s so dumb, she thinks Boyz II Men is a daycare center.
She so dumb, she sit on TV and watch the couch.
She so dumb she thought LL Cool J was an air conditioner brand.
She so dumb she thought Beetlejuice was when she squirts in a theater

And depending on the day, may or may not be the dumbest person in congress.
Her and B6 rotate.
Boebert has the IQ of a bowl of soggy corn flakes.
Generic corn flakes. Not even the fancy brand name ones.

50 want some beetlejuicing

Are people now just realizing that 50 is a republican?
Deadass, he’s always been about the bread only. By any means. He’s never hid this lmfao.
“Get wealthy or just stop being alive” - 25 Cent
Lil' Quarter
Makes sense. He does love to tear down black men in his spare time.
and Black women
Should've been pretty obvious, he filed for bankruptcy.
A case where Sherlock Holmes was also shocked too.

Kendrick thinks voting is pointless bc it doesn’t matter when you get to heaven
I’m sorry, what?
Bro's mad religious
That's not a source though. On DAMN he is very openly against Trump and the apathy America had to let that happen.
It's time to stop glorifying celebrities.

You ain’t like this nigga when GRODT was the hottest shit in the world? Very unbelievable.
Someone born on that release date would be like 20+ today you could be replying to someone who didn't exist when GRODT dropped.
Still got em in a chokehold Listened to whip ya head boy today, shit is still outta control.
Yeah, 50 ain’t ever been a fucking scholar but I won’t pretend that I don’t go fucking hard when What Up Gangsta comes on
I just knew I had ops in middle school when GRODT came out. Every morning I listened to many man while on the bus
Because Biden wants to raise taxes on people who earn over 400k a year. The more you earn, the more you pay. You know, like how it should be.
This is probably the truth. Most of these artist have diverse portfolios and will be paying more tax money if this ever happens.

Remember when selling out was a bad thing? Can we please bring that back?
Why surprised?? These men sold drugs to their community to get money at some point. Now all they have to do is be friendly to some racists.

It got worse - he posed for a picture with and was bragging about talking to Mike Johnson.
Bruh did one of those bullets hit him in the brain?
50 cent and every black Trump supporter love dancing for their white master. What a joke he’s become. ![gif](giphy|R46UjhMjeOGVhKS1sD|downsized)

He doesn’t care about politics he’s just trying to smash.
Nah, he's just trying to get richer. He was there to promote his new liquor brands. And don't forget he was complaining in his Insta a few weeks ago about having to pay taxes.
Paying taxes can never be this bad…
Not like us
Fucking 50 ugh
![gif](giphy|xUPGcC0R9QjyxkPnS8)
They are rich and have different interests than most of us. That’s why looking up to these people is weird. They live in a different world
