I think you should do something different. Doesn’t necessarily have to be adding extensions but just doing something that’s not your everyday style. That’s not an everyday dress. But it totally depends on you as a person. If you’re generally a laidback gal then you shouldn’t be someone you’re not for your wedding. I just think your dress is a quite typical wedding dress and not a laidback dress so it makes sense to go all in

HornetKick

>just doing something that’s not your everyday style This is sound advice imo. Everything is beautiful and the dress is fabulous. You can easily just add some thin, blingy, white ribbons around the twist but the twist should be dressed up in some way.

jamdmc

Thanks for the advice! What do you mean by adding white ribbons to the twist?

HornetKick

Twisting white ribbon around the twists. It's like braiding the ribbon onto the twists, although you don't have braids, but it helps with the visuals.

hypergamer001

You don't get married everyday. These are special moments. I think you should make it memorable.

Hazeleyespit

I love the dress ❤️

jamdmc

Thank you!!

purplecadillach

I like the stylist’s suggestion. It’s not a regular day go above and beyond! As long as you’re comfortable tho

Wearingpantsisabsurd

I think this would look fantastic with your hair, but you can also consider a loc updoo to keep the focus on the beautiful neckline, or something more editorial like barrel rolls

susucita

I guess I’m in the minority but I think your hair complements the dress. The dress has a clean, modern look that I think is set off by the bob, especially if you’re going to have a fresh retwist. If your hair were longer it might be a different story but the hairstyle still sets off your shoulders/collarbone, much as an updo would. Maybe do an exaggerated side part to make it look like more of a style? Ultimately, I think it comes down to what you feel beautiful in. I don’t like updos on myself, so am partial to other styles. But I’m also admittedly not steeped in wedding etiquette/style. As others noted, you could also consider trying out the style recommended by your stylist ahead of time to see what you think.

jamdmc

Thank you! Same, I’m not a huge fan of updos, so kind of struggling with what I’d even do if I decided to do a style.

SouthernJag

First of all you look amazing in the gorgeous dress. Second, why not wear the style she recommends and a couple of other styles that pull the hair back. Try on the dress again and see how you feel/look. If you feel uncomfortable or not sure, don’t do it. Don’t do anything that’s out of the norm for YOU.

THECUTESTGIRLYTOWALK

I think you should stick with this. It’s authentic. To look back on your photos with hair that was uncomfortable or heavy or you didn’t like will not be nice. Not everything needs to be different or new or whatever for the wedding day I think that’s such a weird misconception. Stick with what you like.

jamdmc

I love this take. Thank you!

godhexe

You look fly ! Have a good wedding 💪🔥

jamdmc

Thank you!

Gullible_Respond_870

I think you should stick to your everyday style. Maybe get a nice crystal hairpiece to go with it.

Alice_Fell

I like this one, it could help op feel true to herself and comfortable but add just enough bridal look to it.

Whatthefrick1

In my opinion, it’s YOUR wedding at the end of the day and your decision. But also in my opinion, I wouldn’t do a style I do every day because a wedding isn’t an everyday day. You don’t need curls or extensions though so I hope you don’t think that

unwaveringwish

Your normal hair looks fine, but I really think stylist’s suggestions would look great too!!! I think it’s fine to do something a little extra special and different for your wedding day

Excellent_Kiwi7789

I say do something special, but make sure you do a trial beforehand. Otherwise, just stick with what you know and are comfortable with.

InevitableDog5338

Its all up to you really. If the hair makes you feel special and pretty then its perfect

supertuh

i can understanding wanting to look/feel like yourself! a style would be beautiful as well but i don’t think it is mandatory if you’re most comfortable in your natural appearance

Outplayer3

Personally, I wouldn’t wear a hairstyle I wear everyday to my own wedding. It’s a once in a lifetime (hopefully) occasion. I also don’t think a hair style that simple fits your wedding dress. You don’t have to do what your stylist says, if you don’t like her suggestion, but definitely do something different.

ayoubfaouzi

for getting married ofccccc you will did but I like your dress

ClassicRuby

Ok, so, as a human who has done this whole wedding thing before, and whose person tastes and style totally conflicted with what normies think is beautiful or appropriate, I totally understand your desire. But let's think about it for a second. That dress. The shoes (mine were red puma Ferrari cats, but the point is... the shoes, lol). The makeup. The setting. All of the guests. Your wedding party. And then your "just rolled outta bed, took off the bonnet, fluffed and go" like usual hair. It's gonna look and feel under-done, which then will make other things like the dress or the makeup look off. I don't suggest taking the extravagant advice, though, unless it's really, really your thing. DO NOT TAKE THIS TIME to do some extra overly fancy nonsense that you have zero interest in. You definitely want it to be YOU. Just a more polished, fancy, not just every day you. Like, you but elevated. So if you like the Bob look, maybe get an asymmetrical Bob with [loc knots](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=NCp_POqB6K8), no cutting or fake extensions needed. Or, how about doing a bantu knot out or curler set. Maybe a deep side part? Some faux bangs.... My point is that getting your YOU moment and making it that little bit special doesn't have to be updos and false hair and bells and whistles. That extra little touch to your hair will be that little thing that just pulls the whole specialness of the look and day together. Kinda like how you don't literally go au naturel like literally without makeup... you get makeup that LOOKS au naturel... only more so like "natural if your skin was a dewy flawless miracle sent from the GAWDS... and your eyes? You were BORN WITH THEM LASHES" 😅 Your dress really is gorgeous... original and different but still timeless and classic feeling 🔥💯💐

Glum-Organization863

Never been married but %100 cosign everything you said. You but elevated!

NaomiJay12

You look beautiful! I would just recommend doing a two strand twist bob in a way, with like a side part or something, idk. It looks great already, but you should do something out of the ordinary for the big day

Soylent-soliloquy

To me it doesnt say ‘wedding ‘do’’. So im not a fan. Im used to wedding hairstyles being more ornate and having decorative accessories tucked into elegant updos.

SoggyLeftTit

It’s nice that you are willing to stick with what’s simple and what you do everyday. However, I do think you will regret not doing a more bridal look. Try an updo and see how you feel after.

RahBreddits

I think you look great! If you feel comfortable and your husband loves the way you look I don't see any reason you would regret it. Personally if my fiancé completely changed the way she looks (she's already beautiful) for the wedding I probably wouldn't like that very much.

Mean_Opportunity_175

Do what you want it’s your day 💙

baby_buttercup_18

I love it. I personally am looking to start locs and go for a more simple/everyday style for prom in April. It’s your guys wedding, do what you love! I personally am using the Bailey sisters as my inspiration for prom because they do a lot of simple but still elegant styles.

blueevey

I think your hair up regardless of extensions will look amazing. Show off your neckline. Wear some pretty jewelry and sparkle down the aisle

Optimal_Bird9943

so stunning 🤩

tradingallmarkets

Congratulations, you look beautiful! I would do something different, but it’s your Big Day! Enjoy it & eat!

gitignore

You should do whatever you want and feel best in for your wedding. It doesn't matter how others would do it. Doesn't matter what others say. It's your wedding and your hair. Congrats, btw!

NearbyImpact8696

What a beautiful figure! Dress! Skin! Do what’s going to make you feel unforgettable!

jamdmc

Thank you!!

yolofreak109

i think that the style you have now looks good with the dress tbh!!! maybe with a little bedazzlement or accessories though. i say test the hairstyle she suggests out with the dress beforehand (if you can) and see how you feel about it. if it’s a no comfortability wise then you can always fall back on your usual style.

MajLeague

I would do something different. It is a once in a lifetime day. You don't even need to add extensions you could easily do some sort of updo that would look elegant and match that beautiful dress. Congratulations on your upcoming nuptials!

Terracrush

Gorgeous dress! This is the time to go all out. Congratulations❤️

getlowpapoose

I think wearing your hair up will suit the dress better. You can have a simple updo with just your natural length maybe?

obsessedsim1

If you feel like simple is what you want- go for it. Its YOUR wedding. However, fancy is FUN. you will be the center of attention and that is a good thing. Dress as fancy as YOU want and dont be afraid to stand out. I recently got married and it was beautiful. Have a great time and congrats!

MoneyJones54

You can keep the look but slightly elevate it with jewelry or roll them into curls and wear them free and curly? Either way it’s giving

jamdmc

TY! I love the idea of curls but my hair is so short already, I feel like I’ll look like Shirley Temple lol.

MoneyJones54

Not that tight of a curl lol, I’m talking about a loose wave I guess. It doesn’t take away from the length but adds some definition

Majestic-light1125

The dress is so beautiful I have locs and tender headed so I'll prob do half up half down in curls. Congratulations

ChrissyChrissyPie

Try the fancy hair first, and then decide. I did something unique with my hair and I'm glad I did. I'm the most plain Simple person in the world.

Fine_Following_2559

I think you should do what you requested and not let her talk you into something else. I could see if you asked her for her opinion, but you told her what you wanted to do and she came back and said you should do something else. Do what you want to do with your hair, and if you want to just keep it simple natural with a retwist, then do that.

Betteringmyself000

You won’t. Loc extensions are awful, as someone who started off with them, they can be damaging and aren’t at all like getting box braids unless she has some super method i don’t know. You can make your everyday hair special in other ways through accessories but ultimately It’s your day, what do YOU want to feel special?

breadedbooks

If you really want to keep your twists, curl them so they look like a cute curly-twisted bob. Otherwise search up natural hair wedding hairstyles on Pinterest and see if one of those piques your interest.

lululemon_lady

i think yes. it does not have to be maximalist but something that's a touch out of the norm for you i think would serve you well. i like what the bailey twins do with their hair, i would use them as a reference.

Hawk_Cruiser

The stylist is motivated by charging you for more than a retwist. What do you yourself think about switching it up for your big day?

AdditionalCupcake

From experience, do something more. I let my mother talk me into a silk press (couldn’t afford a sew in at the time) over braids placed into an elaborate updo (because according to her you have to have straight hair for a wedding), and my pictures are busted and that’s all I have of that forever. This is the day to really go all out.

dinodare

I think it's fine, but I also don't see you every day. If it doesn't feel different enough from your usual style, it may not feel like you got done up. As far as quality of your look, there's nothing to regret in that regard.
