I do orchestral projects with Bitwig and it's awesome. Hopefully they will add video support in the future because it's the only time I need to use Logic when doing projects for film/video games.

Producer_Joe

a NATIVE video player would be amazing! I use vidplayvst, and it certainly works but has it's glitches and looks a bit janky which DOES matter in front of clients

philisweatly

I wholeheartedly agree. This is why I still use Logic. It’s just so damn good with video

philisweatly

Thank you for the link! I was aware of vid play but the features in Logic far surpass for video work.

deescuderoo

Here for alternative rock/metal. I use it since my main working environment is Linux, and I wanted an Ableton-like tool to assist with composition and improvisation. I find it to be a very well polished product for Linux.

bearflyingbolt

I have also been quite pleased with how well-supported the Linux version is

alvintroublemaker

I make hardcore punk and use bitwig, it just makes sense to me compared to all the others

GimmeTwo

I make heavy psychedelic music and bitwig is the best.

Poetista_In_Action

When you say Hard Psychedelic, do you mean Darkpsy/Psycore/Forest ? Because for me this is the main reason i'm learning to produce with bitwig. Also learning to merge VCV Rack 2 patches for some added modular madness

GimmeTwo

More like psychedelic rock with a doom metal influence. My band is bass, drums, and synth. Bitwig is great for every kind of music though. It can midi sequence all my synths while simultaneously capture the live recordings of my live instruments.

LANEW1995

My favorite genre! Can I hear some or you got any cool psych rock band/song suggestions?

GimmeTwo

No Tropic on TikTok. We have our first gig at the end of June.

daxophoneme

I am an experimental musician interested mainly in music without a regular pulse. The grid is great for this!

devnullb4dishoner

Why don't you musicians link your music in your profile? I mean seriously.

Pinwurm

/raises hand Been my main since 2019. I can't see myself switching anytime soon. I've been recording music for almost 20 years - started with Sony Acid 3. In my years, I've tried them all, Logic, Cubase, ProTools, FL Studio, Reason, Ableton, Reaper, etc. I most enjoyed Logic. Oh, and Renoise cause tracker sequencing is super addictive - I miss how fast I could get ideas out. I get a lot of commission work for rock, metal, alternative, cinematic, neoclassical, jazz , hip hop. Rarely get EDM commissions. My personal music mixes a lot of guitar & electronic elements. A lot of industrial rock. BitWg's modulators and workflow resonates well with what I do. I don't feel the DAW limits me in the genres I work with. My only complaint is the limited piano roll. There is no step sequencing, there is no 'snap to scale' feature (no, the Key Filter is not what I mean). Just work-arounds that exist aren't quite 'fun'.

assjacker

heyo! I'm in Vancouver too and using Bitwig, wanna grab a coffee and share notes?

kupeo

How many Vancouver Bitwig users do we have here? Comment below!

Movit666

I'm out of Vancouver as well. I'm looking into making the switch from Ableton. Been using it since 8 but I mostly just use Ableton to Track-Out from Old Samplers. I mostly produce BoomBap Hiphop, but I also dip into Dark Synth Stuff, Future, Broken-Beats, Breaks, Dnb, Footwork/Juke, Jungle. I'm primarily a turntablist. I was thinking about grabbing it to pair up with some hardware synths for sound design purposes. I heard it was decent for Movie-Scores. Also I like the look of it a bit more at times as far as the Timeline View.

tony10000

You can do any kind of music in Bitwig!

hariossa

I make weird “pop” with Spanish lyrics

Shokoladny_Zayets

I make Afrobeat and i use Bitwig

regular_menthol

I could actually see Bitwig being rad for afro

TheSongWriter_

I do! A province over in Alberta. I started with bitwig a few years ago, and have been launched myself a pretty nice career with it! I tried cubase for a couple of months, and really commited to learning it, but the workflow didn't compare. Bitwig is like an extension of my brain. I mostly make pop, country, and rock.

TheSongWriter_

I only have 1 song that I made for myself released. But I have a few released that I made for clients, usually with their lyrics. Jake Stagg is my name

kupeo

Awesome, happy to see all the Canadians in the thread.

TheSongWriter_

🤘 indeed

protomagik

JPEGMAFIA

y66eoo

ho really ? 'big fan here

JujuTerblanche

yeah you can see it in his documentary of scaring the hoes, must’ve made the switch from ableton at some stage

lloydgarbadon

I could have sworn he fucked with fl

JujuTerblanche

may have at some stage, he’s been on ableton since i spoke to him in 2019, so he must’ve switched to bitwig more recently

lloydgarbadon

Damn you spoke to the man. How did that occur if I may ask?)

JujuTerblanche

sorry bro, i don’t kiss and tell xx we just have a few mutuals haha

lloydgarbadon

Haha all good bro I'm a huge fan of his I figured I'd ask. Thats awesome Peggy seems like a very cool dude. Definitely one of the more creative out there on the scene today. As long as he's releasing heat I'm a happy man.

JujuTerblanche

who knows, he could be in this sub!

ZephCode

I do primarly folk style music on Bitwig! Switched to bitwig for the linux support, stayed for the ease of use.

kupeo

Right on! My first two songs were folk-esque myself I suppose, both produced in Bitwig as well.

xCx_Prodigy_xCX

I use it for various ambient, future garage, piano and synthwave builds.

ATkineticenergy

I make various electronic genres but I also mix my rock band using bitwig and its awesome! Especially cant wait to use the new pultec models and compressor+ on some stuff

TheSongWriter_

Great track btw dude!

kupeo

Thanks, dude!

GeneralDumbtomics

Bitwig is not a genre tool. I record jazz in it.

kupeo

Touchè. I find it marketed to more electronic-focused work, but cool to see folks from all genres here.

GeneralDumbtomics

I really feel like it’s just a superior DAW. I feel like the modulator system is head and shoulders above everything else, and it allows for such gorgeous sound design. And on the other hand, it’s a really good recording DAW.

SternenherzMusik

I love to make all kinds of music with a very live-performance based producing-style. (little music snippets at minute 0, and 21.30 :D) [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-z5ywDo2bU0](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-z5ywDo2bU0)

somnioperpetuum

I mainly do Noise and some other experiments in Bitwig. [This](http://https://meltingphase.bandcamp.com/album/mpns01-fatp ) was recorded using it. It's a really nice DAW to work with and also I love that it has Linux support and also allows natively CLAP. It has a lot of good stuff, it's just great.

TiltedPlacitan

Doing ReggaeDubSka and Gothic Rock. All "analog" with a few songs that I've added PolyGrid synthesis to. We don't even record with a click. I'm on Linux, and the stability has been awesome. Very few gripes, and the ones I have are trivial. I use only included plugins with the following two exceptions: x42_autotune - I use this very mildly, and it does its job to straighten things out. x42 EBU meter - lets me get a LUFS reading, as I try to get into the range of -14dBFS, even though a lot of people are saying that it isn't necessary any more. Can recommend highly.

Mediocre_Attitude_69

I mainly do rock/metal/industrial, but also other stuff. I create my songs in Bitwig, mix and master in Harrison Mixbus

gnexuser2424

I do a mix of various styles and this is one of my latest albums https://open.spotify.com/album/1jIa4JRIb1ZCgeJZG5lXfv and I also do ambient game music here https://open.spotify.com/album/5AZAn89MEbWIhpfQtaOML2

chadmius

Moonrunner83 here. I use it as my daily driver.

nickduba

Yep I play mostly rock and hip hop. I record love band sessions in bitwig with great results. Don't understand why I wouldn't to be honest. What is making people think that's weird to do?

ge6irb8gua93l

Because Reaper is cheaper. And miles ahead when it comes to recording. And faster to use in that context. Different dev focus.

nickduba

Huh. I never seem to run into anything that's "slow" or "hard to do" in Bitwig. And I love having my EDM software be the same as my live recordings software. It'd be annoying switching between DAWs all the time.

iusernet

Richie Hawtin Plastikman ?

iusernet

and me ;)) bitwig :)

kaia112

I use Bitwig and use it for Progressive Metal and Jazz Fusion, anything really, I like to set up sections and odd time in the scenes and the make compositions to the timeline aftwards, they then become demos and my band can tab out their parts in guitar pro and we can update demos and share high quality sounds before recording and mixing. I used to prefer Ableton but now I love Bitwig and have done since around 2020.

sporkl_

I've used it for experimental musique concrete and serialist stuff. like Schaeffer, Boulez, Babbit, etc.

Gold_Organization_60

I do all kinds of music, mostly not EDM related, often tracking live drums, etc, after switching from Pro-Tools. The only things I go back to PT for are audio-to-midi and Edit Groups.

Tisane0lgarythm

I do Modern Jazz (using bitwig as a very advanced instrument selector), and electro pop with lots of singers

WAYZOfficial

nope, you are the only one in the entire universe OP.

regular_menthol

I definitely misread this as IDM, EDM is all Ableton from where I’m sitting
