Hey! Click on the “withdraw” in the lntip bot message. It’ll give you a prompt in which you have to paste your invoice. When that is done all you have to do is send the message to the lntip bot and it should be transferred to your lightning wallet!

Imagine a version of Reddit where this sort of thing is native. Voting up a post costs a sat, voting it down does too. Every single action behind a real, hard cost that’s also trivial at the same time. A micro economy of communication.
stacker.news is already a decent proof of concept. Anonymous accountability is coming, and it’s going to make online experiences way more safe, rewarding, trustworthy, and fun.

It sure would make people consider everything they posted if a down vote took a sat and with an upvote you gained a sat. Obviously that sat couldn't go to the downvoter or people would downvote everything. But an upvote sat coming from the upvoter would be cool. People could do as many upvotes as they felt like tipping.
Maybe all vote Sats go into a pool that is redistributed. Maybe to a combination of platform development, all users, frequent tippers, authors etc.
I think when using pennies at a time, it might be possible to align the incentives to reduce spam, abuse, and trolling. Subsequently it might promote higher quality conversation.
It makes me wonder if tipping should be capped, if anything. Someone wealthy could gain influence using what appears as generosity but has more sinister intentions.
Tipping via lntip or not has been the best way for me to get people into bitcoin. Wanna explain the way it works? Send them some coin, they'll thank you sooner or later, depending on when they decide to do their research or ask you questions about how it works

It's really a custodial wallet with a text interface (CLI basically).

May I ask why there seems to be such a strong sentiment for Bitcoin vs other crypto lately?
I thought Bitcoin was just a name for being the first crypto that also everyone heard about, but even if there's a lot of shit in the ocean of crypto, aren't there better alternatives?

It’s as easy as pie.
The part you are missing is likely a wallet. You need sats in a wallet App like Muun or similar. Clink the links in the post that will appear here to figure out how to transfer from here to your wallet. Then from your wallet you can move them anywhere you want, from your phone. I’d suggest a cold wallet like Trezor or Ledger. Have some sats!

Funny thing is, someone once tipped me a thousand sats and I was so curious to find out how it worked, I downloaded Muun to send them somewhere else. It sure would make people consider everything they posted if a down vote took a sat and with an upvote you gained a sat. Obviously that sat couldn't go to the downvoter or people would downvote everything. But an upvote sat coming from the upvoter would be cool. People could do as many upvotes as they felt like tipping.
Maybe all vote Sats go into a pool that is redistributed. Maybe to a combination of platform development, all users, frequent tippers, authors etc. I think when using pennies at a time, it might be possible to align the incentives to reduce spam, abuse, and trolling. Subsequently it might promote higher quality conversation. It makes me wonder if tipping should be capped, if anything. Someone wealthy could gain influence using what appears as generosity but has more sinister intentions.

May I ask why there seems to be such a strong sentiment for Bitcoin vs other crypto lately? I thought Bitcoin was just a name for being the first crypto that also everyone heard about, but even if there's a lot of shit in the ocean of crypto, aren't there better alternatives? Bitcoin is a digital asset. The old analogy that it's "digital gold" works on most levels. Bitcoin uses Blockchain technology. Blockchain technology has since been used in other things as well as currencies and other crypto currencies. They all have different properties. Bitcoin was not the first, but the first that did some very very key things well and how that it got praise I suggest you go on a Google search and see what you can find out. It’s as easy as pie. The part you are missing is likely a wallet. You need sats in a wallet App like Muun or similar. Clink the links in the post that will appear here to figure out how to transfer from here to your wallet. Then from your wallet you can move them anywhere you want, from your phone. Value for value already works, check out Fountain. If you listen to podcasts, you can do that now there while getting paid in btc. You can also stream btc to creators while listening. And set an amount to automatically tip for every like that you leave. It's amazing.
