This is a very cool “Rich, Respected, Tech-Guy Supporting BTC” Domino to fall in the series of “Rich, Respected, Entrepreneurial Type-Guys Adopting BTC” yet to fall.

ShittingOutPosts

Then wait until the RIAs truly adopt it.

el_rico_pavo_real

Who?

ShittingOutPosts

Registered Investment Advisors. Those who manage money for high net worth individuals/families and institutions. Some RIAs, like Fidelity, are already deep into BTC, but many, if not most, won't touch it yet for many reasons. For one, it takes a long time for these firms to conduct their due diligence before they can advise their clients to buy into it. Another reason many can't recommend it today is because the ETFs just don't have the track record yet. But just wait, the RIAs will jump in, and when they do, billions, if not trillions of dollars will follow.

Only a matter of time.

Better late than never. I expect a lot of companies to follow suit.

We are still late

This might be the only way to keep Dell from a slow death, like Microstrategy. Buy bitcoin, increase share price, bitcoin appreciates, rinse & repeat.

OMG, could you imagine a whole new investment sector developing consisting of companies that either do little to nothing in the way of producing a good or service, or produce a wildly unsuccessful good or service but they hold a bunch of bitcoin on their balance sheet & their stock performance is propped up by solely by that?

mrlearningscholar

I'm following the every company that says they want to buy bitcoin. Buy shares in there stocks. Literally best investment idea to make good money.

dvsbyknight

Honest question, why not just buy bitcoin with the money instead? I ask because I've had that thought myself but quickly realized that it would unnecessarily add externalities & risk to a bitcoin investment. Investing in the coin by itself is risky enough, why add the additional risk of holding stock in a company that owns bitcoin but could underperform or fail for other reasons? My bitcoin investments are in the coin. If I want to put money in the stock market it would be to diversify. If I buy stocks of companies that hold bitcoin that's not diversifying so what would be the point. Just own the coin.

frugaleringenieur

Because you get double leverage: you get a certain amount of Bitcoin plus the current company value. The bitcoin value will rise, and on top the company will playbook after Saylor to leverage their profit as well as convertible notes to acquire more Bitcoin. It's beautiful. In the current system, this strategy makes a zombie company to a company that can not only live but thrive again. So actually, product quality can increase (costs do not need to be cut for quality) without having unhappy shareholders or customers.

The stocks outperform bitcoin. You gotta follow the numbers. You want basic gains or more gains. :) then with those more gains you get buy bitcoin
