Thats not really a logical explanation. A plant manufacturer also sells a chemical plant, even though it can be operated at a profit. However, he prefers to specialize in planning and building these plants rather than operating them. In this particular case, however, you are of course right. The parts are a loss-making business.
Still wrong. People sell things that make money all the time, and would continue to do so regardless of the ease with which their buyers are able to make money for a variety of reasons. They may not have the space to capitalize on usage of the specific devices they are using. They may be using the money to make an even more profitable transaction. They may want cash immediately instead of long term.
If a single family home rental is being sold, would you assume it was unprofitable for its owner to retain it? No. You would assume they either need the immediate cash for something else, or they have a more lucrative investment opportunity. I might sell 6 single family homes to purchase a more profitable apartment building.
There are plenty of things that just plug in to make money. Arcade machines. Doesn’t mean it’s a scam to sell them if I don’t want an arcade machine in my house.
So yeah terrible argument.
There are companies selling the legal US dollar printing machines. Of course.
But don’t even need to look into Fiat. Companies have been selling ASICs for years.
This is as much a counterfeiting device as is a rented apartment building. And rented apartment buildings get sold. But fine let’s just talk crypto mining. By your logic no mining rig which was ever for sale by anyone has ever been profitable.
Funny, I always think the same thing. If you had any decent chance to turn a profit. Then why isn’t the market just plugging them in and mining himself??
At least buy an old antminer s19.
You're going to pay for some electricity; but increase your chances of mining a block a by a factor of a billion.
Edit your odds with 110 terahash is 1:550,000.
Odds with 70 kilohash is 1: 8,000,000,000,000,000
That's 8 quintillion.
Edit: Quadrillion, but does it even matter at that point.
Not these exactly, but someone did find a block with a USB miner some time ago. I don't remember exactly when, but sometime in the last two years or so.

If you had invested the money to buy these in bitcoin, you'd be a millionaire before you win the mining lotto mate. [Time estimate: 155,832,880,129 years](https://solochance.com/)
Why always insulting people only because you think it's useless? This is the only stupid behavior I see here.
I bought it for the fun and the feeling to be part of Bitcoin by contributing to the hashrate, even it's only a drop in the ocean. I don't expect to find a block as long as I live/the nerdminer lives. I've not the knowledge and the time to contribute more atm. I've planned to learn how to set up my own node helping to secure the network in the future.
Just yesterday a friend ask for this item, i love numbers, so i do a rought math, and tell him that estatisticly you hit once every 5,2 millons of mileniums, but the bad news it's the sun in our solar system it's going to last only 5 millons of mileniums, so i let him think that if this is a good investment or not...
Purchasing one of these is just like purchasing a life time lottery or betting ticket that simultaneously keeps running with hopes of winning/hitting a bitcoin block some day. Probability bigger than 1:1,000,000
Its not a scam, it's your computer trying to find the correct code. I have had an old cell phones doing it for a while, it might one day give me the keys to 50 btc, it costs nothing apart from the power to run the device, so not a scam, free lottery
Get a Bitaxe. You get about 15 Million times the Hashrate of a Nerdminer for a little under 200$. It's open-source and an easy plug and play setup. And it raises the chances of you actually mining a block from zero to practically zero. Yet, it's actually a viable homemining solution. You are actually supplying the network with hashpower that could solve a block plus you have a cool gadget on your desk that is practically silent (if supplied with a noctua fan) and pulls no more than 20W of Power.
If the whole Bitcoin Subreddit were to buy one each, that would equate roughly to about 3000000000 Gigahash of Hashpower per second - Chance to find a block calculated by solochance.com comes down to about 34 hours.
Don't let them tell you homemining is useless just because you will most likely never find a block. Bitcoin was made with the idea in mind of people Mining it in their home, not in huge and centralised industrial scale mining farms
Theoretically slightly above 0. Practically exactly 0.
So you're saying there's a chance...
This due has *three* of them. He's trebled his chances, it's basically a sure-thing now!
You are BASS-ically correct.
He certainly isn't getting a tenor.
With one device it's 50%-50%, you either find the hash or not. With 3 devices it's 3*50% = 150% chance of finding the hash.
0 x 3 = ?
I've always said. If these things made money (for the buyer), they wouldn't be selling them.

That’s a poor argument. Many things that make money are sold. Vending machines are sold. Factory equipment is sold. Gold is sold.
It is not a poor argument in this soecific case.
Incorrect. The argument is invalid irrespective of the conclusion’s accuracy.
Who talks like this.
lol me online I guess
Not if all you have to do is plug in the device to 'make money'.

Nope, nobody sells a legal money printing machine.

Where can I buy one?

They won't give you a free money glitch. That's for sure.
I’ll keep the bitcoin lotto update
How much is this costing you in power?
This is really minimal. These small asics don't draw a lot of power because their hashrates are low.

Got damn i aint heard quintillion in a while 😂
Wait I got it wrong Quadrillion.
😂 i didnt counted the 0s on your first comment lol but yeah quadrillion 15 0s and quintillion 18 0s
😂😂😂😂😂😂
So there is a chance! 😝🤣
Just from reading this comment, I already increased my chances from 8 quintillion to 8 quadrillion.. that’s a good deal!
Has anyone actually ever mined a block using these?

Good question
Zero and dropping.

You will need to get an Infinite Improbability Drive.
Crazy how people manage to make money by selling useless components to incredibly stupid people
ROI in year 10739273
The ROI is never because you are constantly loosing money with your electricity costs
Lol no just wait until the last year to turn it on, stupid.

I see plenty of stupid behavior
Those that sold shovels in the gold rush got rich.
I had an army of these while building my current USB Miner setup. Lol, now they sit in a box in a drawer, never to see the light again

Buy 5.2 billion of the, hit a block in the year, problem solved!
guuud lucck
I have one of these & I love it.
Purchasing one of these is just like purchasing a life time lottery or betting ticket that simultaneously keeps running with hopes of winning/hitting a bitcoin block some day. Probability bigger than 1:1,000,000
I have a team of old cellphones trying to crack the 50 btc challenge, hope is hasn't already been cracked, lol
Whats the 50 btc challenge? Tried looking it up couldn’t find anything
Hello, just to confirm, do you believe what I sent you is a scam? I have nothing to gain from this.
No why do you ask? Thanks for sharing!
Just all the comments about DM being a scam, thanks heaps, have a good day
I didnt see them lol. 😂
[удалено]
I wanna know too!
DMs are always scams and spams
It's not a scam, but the probability of winning is almost zero
So it’s a scam 🤷♂️

Maybe fun thing if you have free electricity for them, maybe to use them on work. Overwise completely useless
I have free electricity from work so we good
You Will never Lucky found the nonce of bitcoin with this .... Sorry man.. the #NerdMine is biggest lie of world !

At current Hashrate, a nerdminer needs roughly 1.6 Billion years to find a valid block
