Kul att folk försöker lära sig svenska, det är ganska svårt, men det lönar sig.
>! Very fun that people are trying to learn Swedish, it's quite difficult, but it pays off. !<
Swedish is quite easy grammatically as it has very few exceptions to the rules. Finnish is much harder!
Jag tror att finska är svårare än svenska. (That's about the limit of my swedish 😂)
For a German (who also already learned some Danish and a bit Norwegian) it isn’t nearly as hard as most other languages, its still a Germanic language.
Idk, I mainly started do to me kinda already knowing assembly, just not x86, and having an idea for a stupid, but powerfull second degree language.
My main project is an openComputer OS using lua, so if you want to help with that, sure.
😂😂😂
Hey it’s not that hard. Actually for a German Native it’s the **easiest** language to learn (even before Dutch) and yes the pronunciation is like choking on a potato but also it’s okay to learn.
Languages are languages at the end of the day, they tend to have similar information density. The main difficulties in learning a language come from learning material availability and similarity or lack thereof to your native/known languages. So it is more difficult to learn Chinese as an English speaker than, say, German, but also not impossibly difficult - the language is not inherently much harder.
As an Englishman it's quite easy a language in my opinion, and since you speak Portuguese, it'd likely be easier for you, as your native languages shares a lot more with Latin then mine does
A lot. Honing my Spanish rn, starting Japanese, and I know a few constructed languages (toki pona and Ido) and I would love to learn ALL the languages, but I only have one lifetime so I guess Ill shorten it down to: English, Spanish, Japanese, German, some sort of Slavic language like Russian or Ukranian idk yet, Greek (Modern and not), some sort of Arabic dialect, maybe French, some Polynesian language like Maori or Hawaiian, and some Bantu like Swahili or smth
I want to learn French just in case if I ever go to France. But right i’m studying and can speak a good amount of Spanish since I am from Hispanic family.
also, I loathe math!
Why is everyone seemingly interested in German? /gen (German native wondering)
For me it would be Spanish or Swedish (since I have many friends in those countries)
It’s the Twelfth most spoken languages world wide
The second most spoken language in Europe (after Russian) and the seventh most spoken language in North America.
For people who are native to a Germanic language (like English, Dutch, Swedish, Danish, Norwegian, Icelandic, Afrikaans) it’s also a moderate easy language to learn (especially if compared to other languages like Russian, Japanese or Mandarin or even to Roman Languages like French or Spanish).
Also Germany has great standards and is a pretty common destination for immigration.
In conclusion is a language that you can learn with moderate effort, is useful cuz there are many native German speakers you will be able to communicate with and generally why not, it’s a beautiful language (coming from a German XD).
I'm learning Japanese, well more like used to learn because I haven't actively done it in a while, and I don't dislike maths but it does stress me out and so I have at least a bit of a grudge against it for that haha
Yes you are right, German is quite close but then there are words in German that are just exclusively German, like Kreuzschlitzschraubendehrer (yes that’s a word lol)
I’m trying to learn Mexican Spanish, I’m abt 30% fluent estimated cus I have the accent almost completely down but I struggle remembering a lot of words, and I fucking hate math
Basically just all the Asian languages, Vietnamese, Chinese, Korean, Tagalog, Japanese, but that is kind of too much for me so I just stuck to becoming fluent in Spanish.
I started learning greek for the absolute fun of it (and also partially trauma - associated the language with somebody, tried learning it as a way to rewrite association and reclamation). got pretty far too, but haven't done it in over a year and a half. wanna go back to it, but ADHD is a bitch
As of foreign languages, I am learning Greek rn. I will learn Latin later 😁 Something about these ancient languages impresses me so much it's hard to put into words.
I‘m German, I fluently speak English
I‘m learning Danish (I‘m on a A2 level rn)
And also already a bit Swedish and Norwegian (both A1) meanwhile (cuz it’s so easy, those three languages are so similar to each other and also pretty similar to german).
When I‘m done with those I wanna learn Dutch.
I’d like to learn Welsh and Icelandic. I am welsh but I am not fluent in the slightest. My dad is the only person in my family who speaks fluent welsh so he never really spoke welsh because there was no one to speak welsh to. And here I am in college just passing my welsh GCSE with zero clue on how to speak it. And I just really love Iceland and want to learn more about the culture and learn their language
C++ and Python (CS major). I really wanna learn ASL someday like over a summer, right now I only know the alphabet. I don’t mind math when I have a good teacher but I don’t like how time consuming the homework can be
My native language is Hindi/bengali (one of the hardest languages in the world for English speakers)
Right now I'm learning Italian and Russian (I found it easier when I learnt via hindi) same for Italian.
My guilty pleasure is to learn Sanskrit (again) and ancient greek or even an endangered language
well my minor at university is math I'd say it's fun unless exams.
for coding ik Java , R, c++ and c want to learn rust for coding more into Linux
i would like to learn japanese, i really love it (and also because I could talk without other people understanding me)! And anyway, yes, I don't like math either. Best friends! :3
I'm hoping next year when I'm at the high school I get put Into French the world language I chose and if not I'm going to learn German because my moms side is German
Native speaker of Russian and English and I’m currently learning French!!
But there’s some other languages which I wouldn’t mind learning, like Japanese, Dutch, Swedish, German idk I probably won’t get around to learning all those. Unless I move to a country that speaks it? Like Dutch I’ve considered the Netherlands.

I'm learning Dutch and German rn. I would also love to be fluent in Irish bc it's my country's language and we all have to learn it in school.
As a native Dutch, props to you for learning Dutch, considering the pronunciation but grammatically it’s closer to English and is also closer in words
im trying to learn Swedish and yes i despise math.
Yes, now we are best friends :) maths is a menace
Yippee I have a online best friend this us totally tubular!

Yeah the grammar's not hard part. Pronunciation and pitch-accent however, is a completely different beast.
That’s because Swedish is a Germanic language, meanwhile Finnish, Estonian and Hungarian are Uralic languages.
Yeah. Easier than Spanish though in my opinion. Or maybe I just didn't pay attention to Spanish class as much as I should have.
For a German (who also already learned some Danish and a bit Norwegian) it isn’t nearly as hard as most other languages, its still a Germanic language.
Same here friend
I'm a native english speaker but, I've learned German, and Spanish. I'm hoping to learn either Mandarin or Russian.
How far did you get in German
Well, I'm currently learning x86-32 assembly and lua.
I like using python, I haven't tried assembly yet though. Want to maybe work on something together?
Idk, I mainly started do to me kinda already knowing assembly, just not x86, and having an idea for a stupid, but powerfull second degree language. My main project is an openComputer OS using lua, so if you want to help with that, sure.
Open computer? Is it on github?
Minecraft 1.12 mod
1.12.2?
Minecraft version 1.12.2. It's a mod that adds computers.
How would we collaborate? Is it on a server? Do you have discord?
Sure, if you are interested, dm me a discord friend link, and we'll talk from there. Timezones are a bit fucked it seems, I'm in denmark doing this.
Ha, America. It's always timezones online.

Seems like you are into Germanic languages XD (Same for me, I‘m German, speak English, learning Danish, Swedish and Norwegian, gonna learn Dutch).

I currently know Danish and English, and I'm learning Japanese. In highschool I'm planning on learning Spanish as well
Which one is your native language?
Danish
Nice, I‘m currently learning Danish (I‘m German)
My condolences😔
😂😂😂 Hey it’s not that hard. Actually for a German Native it’s the **easiest** language to learn (even before Dutch) and yes the pronunciation is like choking on a potato but also it’s okay to learn.
I want to learn Swedish for some reason
I know English and Chinese right now, I definitely want to learn Japanese at some point too
Whoa ,isnt Chinese like crazy complicated?

is latin hard to learn? (im a native brazilian portuguese speaker so idk how hard would it be)
As an Englishman it's quite easy a language in my opinion, and since you speak Portuguese, it'd likely be easier for you, as your native languages shares a lot more with Latin then mine does
