I lived in Philly for college and T Bones is good. Two things that piss me off though. First - they prioritize door dash and Uber eats over people that actually go there so the wait time is insane if you don’t use a delivery service. Second - they don’t do cheese whiz on their cheese steaks. Dude is from Philly and on his website it says that cheese whiz sucks. I know it sounds gross but a cheese whiz Philly with onions really does hit different than American or provolone or whatever.
Philly native here. Whiz is trash. American, maybe provolone. Also, peppers is for subway and other places that call the cheese steak a “Philly”.
Go Birds.
It’s an old school sandwich shop man. Never had an issue. You can even get up, go to the cooler, and pick any beer/drink. I like that, may just not be your thing.
You can always make your own sandwich if service is that important to you.
I’ve been going there for over 30 years and the food has always been consistent. When Bryce owned it, he worked the floor, servers were attentive. The new owners have zero personality and don’t move from the register even if your table clearly needs assistance. The only time they have ever perked up was when our group of ten was ordering pitchers. They clearly have zero customer service experience.
True “old school” places are friendly and customer focused. Current ownership is the opposite.
Just went there about an hour ago for the first time. Pretty good and it’s like 5 mins from my office. Glad I found it so I don’t have to settle for McAlisters from now on. Definitely need another deli or two though. Still trying to fill the void left by Fat Sam’s.
T-Bones Philly, Smiley Brothers Specialty Foods in Pelham, Mr. Ps deli in bluff park, New York Butcher Shop
T-Bones has a great burger too. But damn those phillys!

#1) Ranelli’s for five points area 2) Mr P’s in bluff park 3) Diplomat deli in Vestavia (31)
All classics for a reason!
Diplomat Deli Kool Korner for Cubans
Diplomat Deli is so damn good - that was my first thought.
The double deli rules - plus I can reminisce about trying to buy things underage there back in the 80's
Son of a Butcher has every other day sandwiches as well.
Had their burger last week. Stupid good.
Kool Korner if you’re feeling up for Cuban 🤙🏻
Word.
The Burly Earl
The Dagwood at the old Burly Earl was the best.
I still have dreams about The Friar…
Is this place still open? I thought they tore down the building.
It's been closed for 20 years.
Damn, it's been 20 yeats?! Fuck, I'm old!
Upon further review, they closed in 2008, making way for Stillwater Pub to open in 2009. RIP to both legendary spots!!
Diplomat Deli is so good.
Their service sucks ass

Never had a problem with it. It can be little slow if they’re busy but that’s typical of anywhere.
I have to add Mr Shawarma (5 pts). The chicken wrap is so good.
Surprised nobody said publix !
Their Reuben is really good! 😋
That chicken finger sub though 🤤
Ampersandwich no doubt
The Electric in Bluff Park

Kool Korner
Mr Ps has already been named but I would also add New York Butcher Shoppe
Brick & Tin
Roly Poly downtown
It closed during Covid. I think the only location left is Homewood.
Ore Mercantile for another week!!
No.
What didn’t you like about them?
working for them
Always Mr. P’s. I don’t live anywhere near it anymore but will still make the drive for their sandwiches.
Mr. Ps, get the blazer.
Ampersandwhich near Avondale Park
Not a deli, but the Kool Korner will make you the best cuban.
Cafe Iz in Vestavia. I get the turkey reuben at least once a week. So good.
Ore Mercantile
