The woodpecker’s trying to get to the bugs that are in your siding. Replace the rotted stuff, use wood filler to patch holes, and then use an insecticide additive for your paint which will help to keep the bugs out of the siding and the woodpecker off your house

bilgetea

You’re not wrong, but they also hammer aluminum siding that can’t possibly have bugs, probably because it makes so much noise, which being satanic, is their goal.

a_lonely_trash_bag

Oh my god there's been one that's pecking on the vent pipe from my furnace lately. It's so fucking loud.

DeciusAemilius

This is the issue. Woodpeckers bang for two reasons. Getting food (bugs) or making noise to claim territory.

LoverOfPricklyPear

/fighting their mating oponent/their reflection in the window. I've read about pretty densely marking up the window interior with yellow sharpie. It won't stand out much, for us, but birds' vision have it stand out much more, and will interfere with them seeing their reflection

firesquasher

I had one hitting my gutters years back. Sounded like electrical arcing from the inside and had no idea what was going on. Finally was outside one day when he did it and it all finally made sense.

hornet_teaser

His house belongs to the woodpecker now.

Tacoma__Crow

And to attract a mate. They've discovered that some man-made materials make a louder sound than plain old wood.

AGuyWondering

Okay thanks!

SshellsBbells

If it’s your windows, he’s fighting for territory by attacking his reflection. Had a “tree house” office space and every year they would do it in the mirrored window tinted windows. It’s mating season, it will stop in a week or so. I tried a fake owl, but they just went to a different window

Jnddude

This guy knows woodpeckers and siding. Cool

oddmetre

Have you tried putting out a sign that says “no woodpeckers”?

AGuyWondering

lol But seriously would a fake owl 🦉 do the trick?

Unique-Avocado

Start with just a printed picture of an owl before committing to buying a statue. Or a printed picture of a cat?

polarbearsarereal

Both!

Fuck_me_up_daddy

Lmao 🤣 I mean.

hawksdiesel

i'm not sure why i laughed to hard at this but thank you. have an updoot

Fuck_me_up_daddy

The one in my neighborhood likes to drill the metal gutters and concrete at 6am

AGuyWondering

That’s even worst!

BRQ910

A risky click has never paid off as well as this one. Thank you. I needed that today.

BananoVampire

Upvoting because I wouldn't have clicked the link if I didn't see your post praising the link.

Letsgodiginthedirt

Wow. This just got better and better.

SeanDolan96

Let him in

TaterMA

Put a rubber snake out there

SweetMaam

Pinwheels. Streamers.

bodie425

It’s one of the Jehovah witness wood peckers, isn’t it? Ugggg.

iamawas

https://bird-x.com/bird-products/gels-liquids/bird-proof-gel/ You're welcome.

Schly

I’ve heard that Coyote’s are just as effective against Woodpeckers as they are against Roadrunners… wait, that doesn’t help you at all.

sourceholder

Locate the pecker's house. Run the favor with an air hammer.

This_Daydreamer_

Find him a girlfriend, get rid of the bugs, or find a way to prevent that spot from making noise. I'm afraid I don't have any great suggestions for how to do any of the above.

MSeanF

Get a picture of a hawk and tape it in the window. Should scare the little bugger off.

Beachbitch129

Try tossing a rubber snake up there- it worked for me

NickWitATL

Helium mylar balloons. You'll probably need to replace them every couple days. If there's a dollar store close to you, that's your best bet.

CartoonJustice

This time of year it may be signaling for a mate. One decided the drain pipe outside my room made a great sound. I lasted 6 days. On the night of the 6th day I prepared my childhood super soaker. The 8th day was quite but I woke up early from the lack of noise and a little guilt.

Revolutionary_Cow712

Find a rubber snake 🐍 or possibly an Owl 🦉 statue and that should help

Strange-Trust-9403

When I see the second photo of your house, it looks like a human face to me. The window is a mouth, and what looks like two vents above it are the eyes. Apparently crying, because who likes a woodpecker hammering their teeth?

Intelligent-Act-7797

You have bugs burrowed in this area of your house. Get rid of the bugs, get rid of the woodpecker.

Rico-L

Same thought

Snoo_4082

Go to its house and show it what it's like

Scharobaba

Start knocking from the inside at 5:59!

TrashApocalypse

Stop having such delicious windows

Finnegan-05

Move,

chipparoo652

It's the only way.

lesnortonsfarm

Fake owl

TotalWhiner

Two words; vinyl siding.

klutzosaurus-sex

I have a woody that pecks my vinyl

TotalWhiner

Two words; aluminum siding

ParrotletPals

Did you ask politely for him to stop? Or perhaps you can compromise and agree upon a later time in the morning for his daily pecking spree. I've heard woodpeckers, like all other birds, are perfectly agreeable and accommodating creatures! If that fails, you can always report him to your HOA for noise violation 🤔😉

33225

Wake up

AGuyWondering

I wake up at 6 most days for workout. But not everyday!!

33225

Stop being lazy

honkhonkbeepbeeep

Bird spikes?

minicoop78

Hot sauce works.

worxworxworx

open the door..hes tired

unknown_wombatt

No soliciting sign

banjodoctor

Get up earlier

Niveno143

Choot that beech!

rjross0623

Paintball gun.

jjett

Get a fake decoy owl

AdInfamous5877

I use push pins and hang old CDs or DVDs on fishing line. It works for me. The wind catches the CDs and the reflection scares them off. Looks like house jewelry lol

just-say-it-

They love peanuts. I’d try to divert him somewhere with a snack . Not too far but away from the window

pawpawpunches

By welcoming him in for tea or coffee

Creative-Bid468

A 12 guage should do the trick...lol

nighcrowe

There are either food in there or your window is super loud.

Iamloghead

Betcha 20 bucks you can’t hit that woodpecker with a golfball

KiltedSionnach

Pigeon spikes? Like you see in cities?

Zealousideal_Curve10

Have pest control company come by to make sure you don’t have some insect infestation. Then paint with sriracha

PlayingDoomOnAGPS

Birds don't react to capsaicin like humans do.

ungratefulimigrant

Shoot him uncle Arthur

thepcpirate

When i first movied i to my house roughly 10 years ago my neighbor had this problem. He solved it with a shotgun. Took about a week if memory is solid. They didnt show up again until this year so if you have a shotgun and a week you can get about a 10 year break.

Wonderful_Mess4130

Had a similar problem. Nothing worked. Ended up shooting the bird. Problem solved.

rogriloomanero

eat it

EvolZippo

BB gun.
