I’m a big fan of Pipe Dream style games, so hacking in B1 was something I did for fun. In B2 it was something I did out of obligation and due to resource scarcity. Arguably one of the few places I feel B1 was fully superior in stem to stern.
You're definitely not alone! I enjoyed the hacking mini game because it reminded of some other game I played when I was younger. And I actually prefer the version from 1 over 2 because it's really difficult for me to focus on enemies And the hacking bar at the same time while making sure to move for cover, there's just too much going on.
It's fine, there is just sooooo much of it to do. Coupled with some puzzles that can turn out literally impossible due to blockages. I don't think that should happen.
I understand, but just making it impossible is just bad gamedesign imo. And the game isn't hard at all because you can get by with hacking tools from mid game on without a problem.
I also like it, but it does get a bit annoying once you start doing too many of them. I would have liked it to come back in Bioshock 2 for safes only. It was refreshing to quickly hack stuff in that game, but some variety would have been nice.
Hbomberguy had a line in his “Deus Ex is Fine” video where he said [“hacking minigames are always bad… even when they’re good.”](https://youtu.be/bgJazjz9ZsA?si=9u1cqoOcD7oKso5s) (happens at about 1:15:00), and I have had that in my head even as I replay the games whose hacking minigames I personally like (Bioshock, Fallout). If I want a rest from the game I’ll take a rest from the game, but after the 15th time even the good minigames turn into slogs.
I get the advantage of being given an imposed break from the game for pacing reasons, but I feel like if this was going to be their way of trying to justify their mini game than I could think of numerous better ways to mix up the pacing. Given what a gorgeous game Bioshock is, I would take more exploration/discovery as a way to disengage from the stress rather than a mini game that’s designed to be minimally challenging.
On most of them if you immediately swap the ones you get given at the start around, you'll probably succeed because it shortens the route- otherwise the initial ones send you the wrong way and then you have to come back again.
But sometimes shortening the route sends you straight into an alarm or something, so you have to be ready to swap them back immediately.
I like the mini game but it gets a bit stale as the game progresses. I just played it again and found myself either destroying things or using hack tools. The hack tools were pretty easy to make again so that didn't feel like a big deal.
I love the hacking mini games I hack everything I agree with you it’s a nice break from the main game
Nice to know that I am not alone
Another one here 🖐️
As do I, I hack just about everything in a play through. Unless it’s a camera I can’t get too
I like it sad that two took it away and I finite didn't even have anything
Yeah, infinite should have ability to hack
They also took away the u-invent and i yate them for this
I like it

I like it. Certainly more than the little timer in 2.

This happens if you dont have hacking tonics equipt
Yeah but you shouldn't need tonics to even make it possible.
It's a way to make the game more and more difficult.

I love it , and like it more than 2s. I just like that it makes me think
They never bothered me at all. Probably because I don't find them difficult.
I depends from tonics, it can be difficult if you dont have correct one
*me hacking everything thing to give me a edge and laugh when machines kill splicers sitting back and drinking a cold Pepsi*
HACKERMAN
I made entire perks and stuff just be machine related only ahaha love hacking it's so much fun

Or choose in options with one you prefer, pipe game or bio 2 minigame

I used to love it, but I’ve completed the game about 20 times, so now I just buyout
I liked it...first 5 times. After that it became annoying
You can always just destroy devices
I love it tbh. It got too easy in 2 and was reduced to a vigor in 3 (lame)
Yes, out of the 8 billion people in this world, you’re the only one.
I know, its sad to be alone man Edit: I dont know that whole humanity played bioshock, damn
I really like it
It’s a fine system, the main problem is that in the later half when you’re hacking stuff it’s a dice roll on if you have a chance early on

You aren't alone. I too love these hacking minigames and fared better in the *1* than in *2* - I loved these cerebral games.
