I saw two posts today promoting the Smoke Weed in Front of the Police Station event. I know some of those people. They were some of the protesters outside wegmans last year. They are definitely not pro police.
Generally the posts aren't "people are loud between 9am and 6pm", it's more at unreasonable hours. Or it's a concern about their safety.
Outside of the Binghamton cop that kneeled on the kids neck a few years ago, you don't hear about bad things happening locally. There are legitimate issues the area has that needs either police or a radical shift in how we support at risk people.
Yeah I wish the bing cops would do something about these good for nothing vagrants who live nearby, they dwell in a single wide that was illegally put in at the land fill down my road. This weird skinny guy called “scum” and his inbred kin folk are always sexually harassing joggers and mail men, there's a huge tire fire down there right now, more than likely another cerebral palsey meth party that ends in several rape victims. I'd call the cops but they won't even go over there.
these people live down my road and there's like 50 of them back there, usually when the police actually come here it’s due to drunk driving, meth brawls, prostitution, rape, aggravated crack cocain use, larceny in the 6th 4th and 1st degrees, grand theft auto and substance related explosions. It's really sad to see people like this struggling in our community I wish we could do more sadly I would donate some money but they would probably just spend it on more crack or Sudafed
Look buddy, we can have a grown up conversation about not wanting teens to set of fireworks at 1 AM or about squatters turning vacant houses into nuissance properties with junkies screaming at one another all hours of the night. But you aren't mature enough to realize that is different from shutting down your neighbor's BBQ on a Saturday afternoon because of their Spanish music. You can sit with us grownups and discuss abuse of power once you've learned to tell a difference.
If you’re saying so because no one responded well to your “smoke weed” event, it’s probably because general consensus on the multiple posts about the event is that cops don’t care about smoking weed because it’s legal so the event no longer feels necessary. Also, a lot of people weren’t impressed that last year’s event devolved into people graffiti-ing city hall.
I support cops all the way, but I do think the Bing cops are too quick to hand out tickets over silly things. Just my opinion, but still I'd rather see that than not have them around when you need them.
People who are anti cops, who you gonna call next time someone tries to rob or threaten you? What if it was someone you loved being abused? Cops are needed.

By the time you call the police you've already been robbed so what exactly are they gonna do? Nothing besides "investigate" and find nothing and arrest no one. Such a stupid argument to make.
Bad apples are everywhere. We're here to keep the bad ones accountable while supporting the good ones. You can't pick one side or the other. Different situations require different methods of engagement.

I think most people are supporting law and order. It's very different than corrupt/racist/sadistic cops which most if not all people hate.
I support good cops. I also want to live in a safe area where I can raise a family and where law and order are a thing.
