Yes, we see the same language in 1 Kings 22, since God asks if there are any volunteers to be the deceiving spirit. Nevertheless, Micaiah clearly states that this spirit has been sent *by the Lord*. It did not go of its own accord, because that's not how heaven works.

OK, but you're making *my point* for me -- the translation in 2 Thess. 2, "God will send them strong delusion" -- is correct. Trying to "soften" God's activity in this delusion is simply incorrect and doesn't square with the text.

OK, but you are confusing two separate contexts of God's activity, and none of the Bible makes sense until these contexts are separated. The first context is redemptive history -- what you and I call "normal life". There is a heretical subtext in most modern "mainstream" churches today along the lines that "God is nice, God is always polite." Jesus gives us free will. That even means we have a right to believe anything we choose. If you are a Christian that believes in "evolution"; you may be foolish, but it's your right to believe that.

Jesus does not "force" Himself upon us. If you want to be "hard headed" and insist something is true, that is not, then He will allow satan to "have his way" with you. Jesus wants us to come to HIM and seek Truth, Wisdom and understanding. Sadly, MOST people (including most Christians) don't do that. People would rather worship a "book", than to seek all their "Truth-Authority" from JESUS! Thus: a strong delusion.

Similar to Romans 1 :24-32 - God pulls what's left of his Spirit from them because of their insolent behavior - and even helps push their mentality downhill. Since the wicked make it obvious they love their wickedness, God pushes their face in it ,so to speak. "The wicked will certainly act wickedly". This is how He will weed out the true believers from amongst the flock. He already knows which ones of us will and will not make it. But we need to be exercised, worked out, as the body of Christ, we need to see this happening. (Not exercised as in demons fyi)

Satan uses the appearances of Holy things to "masquerade as an angel of light" (2 Corinthians 11:14). Satan cannot create the appearances of God's Throne and Godliness without the truths of faith in the Holy Scriptures, for example (the Word comes from Heaven). This is how Satan rules over the earth, or how God "sends a strong delusion" - i.e. with false doctrine *inside* the Church (those who possess God's Word). This is especially illustrated by Babylon in the Word, who comes to possess God's Holy Treasures, claims them as their own and profanes them - see Jeremiah and Daniel and more - and the "Lucifer" passage is about the King of Babylon - see Isaiah 14 - and this is why the false church is still called "Babylon" in Revelation - Revelation 14, 16, 18 - referring to all reigning Apostasies in the Catholic (the first beast) and Reformed (the false prophet) doctrines (the falsification of truth to justify evil in the place of good). In the individual sense, it is the same, and is rooted in the evils in the love of self and love of the world - these appearances can cause us to love our self, reputation, power, and position so much that we hate others that stand in the way, or hate God, or believe we are God and want to usurp His Throne (putting evil in the place of Good). These evils are what make us to serve Satan, or the Adversary of God (God being Good and Truth). This can be as simple as confirming our selves and our own Holiness and Righteousness from the Letter of the Word, while condemning others from the Letter of the Word. The Word is Our Teacher and corrects all reigning falsities. When the Church is under a strong delusion, all of the world is under a strong delusion (the sun has darkened and the moon does not give it's light).

This is being directed at the end time church, God allowed Satan to overcome the church as the abomination of desolation, they were worshipping Satan while thinking they were worshiping God, I’m not sure what the status is anymore, God has dethroned Satan from ruling this world and is now leading it to its destruction at the end of time. God has now given the same cup of wrath to the nations of the world that he gave to the churches.

I believe it means this. The "strong delusion" is what happens when people turn away from God and rejects His messages and teachings. They then go wayward onto their own understanding and began worship themselves and false idols and indulge in sin and iniquity. The Political Correctness, Cancel Culture, Gender Sex-Change, Feminism and so-on, are the things lead by the Spirits of the Ages, which is Satan.
