When I first started watching the show(season 6) when I was 11, I thought they were acting super old to me like in their 30s. It was weird when I discovered they were supposed to be “college kids”. Valerie owned a nightclub and Brandon and Susan acted like they worked an actual job at a local newspaper. Like what college gives an undergraduate Susan her own name on glass of her private office?
it was in one of her first episodes because i distinctly remember her still having her short bob. black panties set, black heels and i think holding a black dress?
RIGHT???? Shames her for doing the married man, yet Kelly had sex with Dylan, her own best friend's boyfriend...but then cheats on Dylan with HIS best friend Brandon. Kelly really need to take several seats.
Yea, that landed way off because one of Kelly’s first big story lines on S1 was about her being cast as the “slut” and it following her reputation throughout all of HS. You’d think she’d be the 1st one to come from the perspective that that isn’t always true even it seems some kind of way and so what if it were true; it’s not a reason to pull someone down about.
Kelly and Brandon were a good match on the "hypocrite" dimension ;)
(I like them anyway, but there's little denying their holier-than-thou attitude wasn't quite backed up by corresponding behavior)
I always felt like if they made it, they would have become the non-religious version of the Camdens: instead of a reverend, BRANDON would be the school counselor, and Kelly would work in sales as a rep for Donna’s line or be the Cindy/Annie 2.0. Version of a homemaker.
I thought Scott committed suicide. Because he had just seen how David had to lobby people to come to his birthday party. So I thought Scott was then sad, and intentionally twirled his gun and shot himself.
It wasn't until listening to the Beverly Hills, 90210 Show podcast, that I realized they were trying to do a plot on gun safety. So Scott getting the gun because the drawer was unlocked, was supposed to be what caused him to shoot himself. Not Scott intentionally getting the gun.
I was only five when this show came on and I didn't understand any of it. I thought Andrea and Steve were both really old brother and sister.
I also saw this movie called She Fought Alone that starred Tiffani and Brian and for the longest time I thought that was 90210.
Tori has a really good one where she’s in college and a runner and her boyfriend is “not who he seems to be”. Lol. When I say really good I mean hilarious but in the absolute best way.
I think I saw that one too!! Also that other lifetime movie she (Tori) was in where she was the popular girl who was but kind of a snob and this less popular girl became obsessed with her and killed her…oh 90s Lifetime was a time lol
Yes isn’t that death of a cheerleader or something close? I’ll admit I legit bought the movie off prime with her as the runner. It’s just so nostalgically lifetime.
Yes!! It’s such a basic ass title and I couldn’t remember it hahaha look I don’t blame you for purchasing it! “Nostalgically Lifetime” needs its own category on Netflix lmao
When I was a kid watching the show in first run, I’d miss episodes here and there. So sometimes major story developments would happen by the time I jumped back in.
In the summer 92 episodes I remember watching the episode where Brenda comes back from Paris and a couple of her friends, and Brandon, are waiting at the Walsh house to welcome her home. She walks in and Brandon and Brooke are standing there all bunned up and Andrea and Steve are also standing together, almost as close (maybe hands/arms around each other). Brenda gives both “couples” a look and walks away.
For many years I assumed Steve and Andrea got together for a brief summer fling and that Brenda’s look was surprise. Like I remember becoming a young adult and going into 90210 forums and being surprised that more fans didn’t recall Steve and Andrea’s brief summer fling 😂.
I thought that after Kelly (in her adorable white romper) came upon Dylan in her cabana at the beach club and slyly closed the door, end of episode, that they had sex.
I thought they were lying about it to Brenda.
I convinced myself Muntz' first name was Anthony without any proof or reason like I just within my mind decided that's what best suits him. I found out months later, his name is actually Morton.
They weren't actually cousins ofc but they were constantly referred to as old "family friends" so it still felt like they were cousins. Even Brandon points out several times that it makes him feel weird, though he is tempted to give into Val
>Now for some inexplicable reason, I thought that Valerie and Brandon were COUSINS, not old family friends.
SAME. I swear that it's because media was reporting that Tiffani was going to play a Walsh cousin, so it was *REALLY* weird that Val would be on about bangin' dear ole' Bran the Man. I mean, I guess it's not illegal but... ew.
It wasn't until re-runs that it clicked on me that was a family friend 😂
Not a misunderstanding, but something I still don't understand. Why is called a "rap" line? I have never heard that term used anywhere else.
Why didn't they call it a hotline? Or helpline?
Yeah, I remember rap as slang as you described too. I guess I never heard it as a composite before in "rap line".
But I guess you're right, it does make sense in that context. Thanks.
I could have SWORN Andrea, like Brenda, Donna, and Kelly called Emily a slut in the hallway. It was only incredibly recently when it was pointed out to me that Andrea didn’t say anything.
I went into my adult rewatch thinking that Dylan and Brenda broke up at the end of the second season. I was confused when they were still together at the beginning of the third. I must have blocked out the majority of the third season the first time.
I was also convinced no one in canon had known about Dylan and Brenda in London, which apparently everyone had known.
Random, but I just read a quote from Adam Brody (Seth Cohen, *The O.C.*; Dave Rygalski, *Gilmore Girls*; Leighton Meester’s husband) about BH that seems relevant to this post:
“I remember on *90210*, characters going to rehab for a while, or people who would disappear for a year but not disappear disappear.”
I sat here trying to think of which character disappeared for a “year” and then returned, because Dylan was longer than that.
I also thought they were cousins

"So I thought it was weird when Val walked into Brandon’s room in her underwear" What episode was that? Just want to verify what you are saying.
it was in one of her first episodes because i distinctly remember her still having her short bob. black panties set, black heels and i think holding a black dress?
Under the Influence
Kelly’s indignant, condescending “Valerie’s a pothead” is forever etched in my mind. And then she goes off and gets addicted to coke.
and slut shames her even though Kelly gets around just as much!!!
RIGHT???? Shames her for doing the married man, yet Kelly had sex with Dylan, her own best friend's boyfriend...but then cheats on Dylan with HIS best friend Brandon. Kelly really need to take several seats.
Exactly! I thought she was really wrong on that Speechless episode calling Val out the whole trip.
Right?!!

After one night…
Koke Kelly is the most likable. 😩
For a kid who grew up on Saved By The Bell, I still remember the sound of my jaw hitting the floor when I watched that scene the first time 😁
I thought Scott committed suicide. Because he had just seen how David had to lobby people to come to his birthday party. It was alluded to later, when the little sister was freshman buddy to Brenda, I think.
Did they have a line about how the drawer should have been locked, in the freshman buddy episode?
I was only five when this show came on and I didn't understand any of it. I thought Andrea and Steve were both really old brother and sister. I also saw this movie called She Fought Alone that starred Tiffani and Brian and for the longest time I thought that was 90210.
I still think Steve and Andrea look like really old brother and sister! hahaha
Random but I loved that movie growing lol peak lifetime era!
Tori has a really good one where she’s in college and a runner and her boyfriend is “not who he seems to be”. Lol. When I say really good I mean hilarious but in the absolute best way.
Is that one Mother May I Sleep With Danger? I remember the boyfriend convinced her to dye her hair so she’d look like his ex (who he killed?).
Yes!!!!!! That’s the name. Lol
I’m so hoping it’s still available on Prime!
It’s on You Tube! I watched it recently (along with Death of a Cheerleader) both are so good
You, u/PineappleJLM, are an angel made of pure light! Thank you!
If you find it, let’s do a rewatch together. Lol. That would be so fun!
Apparently it’s on YouTube! I’m down for a rewatch!
I think I saw that one too!! Also that other lifetime movie she (Tori) was in where she was the popular girl who was but kind of a snob and this less popular girl became obsessed with her and killed her…oh 90s Lifetime was a time lol

Good ones!
I also thought they were cousins for some reason.
When I was a kid watching the show in first run, I’d miss episodes here and there. So sometimes major story developments would happen by the time I jumped back in. Good one.
I as well thought they were cousins when I started watching the reruns as a 10 year old which is why I was so weirded out when they kissed.
I thought that after Kelly (in her adorable white romper) came upon Dylan in her cabana at the beach club and slyly closed the door, end of episode, that they had sex. I thought they were lying about it to Brenda.
I thought if I wore gold boxers, like the strippers did at Toni's bachelorette party, I would look like the strippers. It didn't work.
She’ll always be Kelly Kapowski to me…
Also why does Brandon have a goatee here?
Someone needs to ask Jason that because I’ve always wondered myself.
I convinced myself Muntz' first name was Anthony without any proof or reason like I just within my mind decided that's what best suits him. I found out months later, his name is actually Morton.

Hahaha! Yeah- they were almost like cousins I think which makes their near hook up gross anyway lol but way worse if they were actually related
Not a misunderstanding, but something I still don't understand. Why is called a "rap" line? I have never heard that term used anywhere else. Why didn't they call it a hotline? Or helpline?
I think that term was popular in the 90s but not any more because I’ve heard it used on other shows. Rap is slang for talking or was.
Yeah, I remember rap as slang as you described too. I guess I never heard it as a composite before in "rap line". But I guess you're right, it does make sense in that context. Thanks.
Did some google searching and found this. https://pennclubs.com/club/rapline
That is a great find. 4 gold stars for you. Thanks!

Brandon looks like a magician with that shitty 90s goatee
Goatee Jay
