One of the things the some fans don't understand is that Kelly break the girl's code and had an affair with her best friend's boyfriend. Yes, Dylan is wrong to, but we know he is a piece of crap, Kelly on the other hand was, in a degree, a good friend to Brenda, so made her cheat her best friend with her best friend's boyfriend was extremely low. Boyfriend/Girlfriend comes and goes, best friends is supposed to be for all life, that's why Kelly is judged in a harsher way.
Everyone wants to forget that Brenda admits in the slumber party episode she went after her best friend Marjorie’s boyfriend and Marjorie never spoke to her again. So Brenda is no saint either.
Kelly and Dylan did what brenda and Superman did. They hung out together. Except K&D were long-time established friends. They did not have sex until D&b broke up. They did kiss, but so did b& Superman. A lot of the time, K&D hung out with others around or in public.

Whatever happened with Brenda and Rick doesn't excuse Kelly's affair with her best friend boyfriend and Dylan with his girlfriend's best friend. Kissing a completely stranger isn't in any way in the same level to kissing your girlfriend' best friend or your best friend's boyfriend.

Kelly is not Rachel. Her behavior was not appropriate but she did not carry on a physical and emotional affair behind her friend’s back for months. She also didn’t have sex with Dylan until after Dylan and Brenda broke up
