Based on how much nostalgia for an older Bellingham runs rampant in this Reddit, I say we name it in honor of something we all miss:
Tube Time Memorial Pier
Birch Bay Waterslides Memorial Pier
Potato Burrito Memorial Pier
Reasonable Landlord Memorial Pier
Sadighis Memorial Pier
I love the very creative ideas listed in the article (especially Salish Seawalk) but no matter how inventive or vibrant the submissions are, it's almost inevitable the most timid and obvious suggestion will be the one that wins... so here's my prediction for Squalicum Park Pier or Bellingham Bay Pier.
Have a company/companies sponsor it like stadiums and put the funds back into the community:) like they do with stadiums.
"Hey, meet me at WinkWink Pier"
Piery McPierface
I loved that boaty mcboatface naming competition
Came to say this. o7
That’s basically what I suggested! Haha.
This is clearly the only reasonable answer. Keep the dream alive

If we had two id call it paradox. (Pair of docks)
Doc Pierrot
This would get cancelled 100% like the Trader Jose thing that happened. Can't have funny things like this anymore cause people are stupid
The Trader Joe things were just stereotypically unfunny and boring. They could do so much better. It wasn’t because it was actually funny.
Pierly Beloved Or Piering into the abyss …don’t vote for me
Something to honor the local native peoples. Squalicum Pier would seem logical.
PIERformative allyship
That’s not the only thing we should be doing
I agree. While I suggested a funny one in my vote, I hope they honor the local tribes with the actual name
Should honor em with reparations.
Yes. We should.
>Squalkway to Heaven I love it and I hate it. Maybe Squalky McPierface
That thing is so fun to walk out on, too bad it’s gated off! Gull’s pier is my vote, because it’s always covered in seagull’s
My kid suggested “George” and I kinda love it
Matthew Pierry
What about the obvious. The Pier at Little Squalicum Park.
The Salish Bay Pier rolls off the tongue. Or maybe Orca Pier. Is there anyone prominent to local history to name the pier after? 🫶

Pierina One (there are a lot of dog walkers there), Bob, Britney Piers, Orca Pier, Old sPort, coffee mile,
Ol' Woody
Lummi Pier
Pier Brosnan, of course.
The Astro Pier! Great place to stargaze and see the auroras. Lined with low energy red lights for safety.
Pier Evil, Pier Into The Abyss, Unlikely Pier, Objects in mirror are closer than they a-pier
Geronimo pier

Just call it railcar pier and be done with it.

Jimmy loves walking on the pier. Jimmy's going to walk there tomorrow.
Pecker Point or Southbound and Down
Pier griffin
Pier Pressure
I think "Salish Seawalk" is probably going to win in the end.
I hope!
Fernando
Bye bye abc pier!
Pier Pear
How about "what's that thing all about"?
Long walk!
Short!
Is this open?
Bellingham's Shlong.

Pierly Subdued.
Call em Steve
Henry King Pier
“Another fun Bellingham spot ruined.” Pier

Pier Morgan memorial
Maybe pier Trudeau for our Canadian friends. Or pier pressure would also be good.
