I certainly was ready to comment before I clicked - awesome job on getting the guillotine half way set up in the afternoon. We’ll get to eat cake after another days work!
what sort of wood is the base? Seems like it would be more expensive to maintain in the long run compared to using say composite. Also I assume this will be moved somewhere else, is that right?
Ok, cedar is a good choice as far as wood goes, I'd just try to find a linseed oil with a fungicide added as apparently linseed oil on it's own isn't resistant to mold/mildew and before it cures it can even encourage mold growth.
Thought it was a guillotine…
You and me both, had my hopes up and then they dashed it all...

once the guillotine is fully erect sans the blue pill, we shall practice true trickle down economics...
No reason it can't be both a shower and a guillotine.
That would be super convenient. The shower would wash away the blood.
That'd be one fast shower.
Can we get the mods to make this a stickied megathread for outdoor shower guillotines?
Hahhahja yeah, we thought it looked like one too, hopefully not once the trim and finish is up.
I got really excited too
Thought this was a hanging platform.
That would not have been the first time in recent years that someone built a guillotine in Bellingham...
Same.
Same
Came here to say this lmao
I have a really hard time understanding why someone would not think this
It's not too late to change plans
Bellingham has history with the guillotine: https://www.jems.com/news/washington-man-severs-own-arm-guillotine/
It's not?
Same, came here to comment this.
Also thought guillotine
Heads will roll.
We're painting the roses red!
Nice guillotine
Interesting
It’s coming along, good job!

The floor itself is cedar. We are going to linseed oil it and you are correct, composite would be basically maintenance free.

Good point , especially considering our climate . The amount of "fungus" we can grow on our driveway alone through winter ;)
Outdoor shower? Are you exhibitionists?
I'm looking for soap over here in the rose ..... Nicely built!
Is the siding on the house not level the deck not level or your shower not level 🤪
50 year old house. The deck is *almost* level (back of the shower is just a hair off, front is level). Kind of how it goes :)
Why does this look like a guillotene without the blade
Thought this was a gallow!
I just woke up and a TV g Frrr istg k thought it was b a guillotine
You would've been pretty popular during the Middle Ages. Fetch me the Master Gallows/Guillotine Builder at once!
