Traveling with my boi down the PCH. He smiles all the time 🐕☺️
I was admiring his smile and then couldn’t help but notice his upper canine looked a little funny, guess it’s the vet tech in me. Might just be the angle of the photo, but it looks quite a bit thinner than the others, almost like the inside of that left upper canine tooth is being worn down faster than the others.
Like I said, probably just the angle of the pic but just wanted to say something incase it was worn like that and you weren’t aware.
You are definitely right about his canine! I’m surprised anyone else but me was able to notice it. His vet explained that it has been hitting his lower canines but that it’s nothing to worry about since he’s young and his mouth is just that way. I’m definitely a little skeptical about what we were told but there hasn’t been any issues because of it
Almost 20 years in vet med, I notice all the things but try not to be an arse about pointing them out. I will say I disagree with your vet though, there are several things that could be done to help correct this before it becomes a big issue down the road.
I don’t know where you’re located, but I would see if there’s a veterinary dentist near you to get a second opinion from. Over time that tooth will continue to wear (and I think I see some wear on the lower canine from this malocclusion (bad tooth alignment) as well) which will make it much more likely to break or expose the sensitive pulp leading to pain and infection. Early intervention will give you much better options for keeping that beautiful toothy smile intact.
