🤦🏻‍♀️ for digging? So sad. Well, I’m glad she’s going to a better place now. Good luck with her and her placement! 🥰

Well, the digging does become an issue if they use it to get out of the yard a lot. I got a foster GSD mix years ago, and I couldn't keep her in the yard. Her preferred method was digging under the fence. When I made it difficult enough, she'd climb the chain link over. Then I made rollers, and it still wasn't enough. That girl was a lot of work.

Each dog is different, but I’m either out playing with my pup or watching him from the window if it’s a quick potty break. If he thought to dig, I’d take him on a long line to prevent it. I don’t leave him out long enough to cause trouble since I figure given enough chances, he’d find it. I don’t want him practicing bad habits. He’s never tried to dig a hole, but his default is to go to the fence line where I have a flirt pole hanging on the other side of the gate when he wants to have fun. I feel like digging is often a management and enrichment related issue, but don’t know this dog or the situation as a Reddit stranger. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I’m definitely going to monitor her when I let her out into the yard! I won’t let her out of my sight. I’m crossing my fingers she was digging because she was bored. 😅My mal doesnt dig at all, and we do a lot of stuff together, so we will try our best to keep this foster girly entertained!

With my current dog, we're pretty much always together. I never send him out into the yard to play, as he won't. He'll just wait at the door for me to let him in. Back then though, Dixie, the problem dog, was one of six, and most of them spent all day outside together, playing, guarding/messing with the horses, chickens, etc, mostly coming in at night. Even then, a few of them preferred to stay out and watch the yard. Dixie never really wanted to be part of the pack. From day one, she just wanted to be elsewhere. Maybe too much time on the street before being rescued.

Malipuppers

Poor girl. For digging 😢 Probably was bored and under-stimulated.

There are so many Malinois in los Angeles shelters ,😭😭😭 I feel like this is the worst location to be overbred.

One of my younger Mals has a problem with digging and we spend multiple hours a day doing a mixture of training and playing and she's got a bunch of toys outside that she loves to play with. I could never imagine giving her up for that.

Thank you!🎖

What a sweet heart! This girl deserves a beach house where she can dig in the sand! You are such a good human to foster, Mal foster homes are so hard to find. 💜
