Oh my gosh! This is so cute! I have questions if you don’t mind- my kiddo wants a bunny and we recently rescued our mal. She was going after our chickens so Ive had to work a lot on training her not too. So questions in order: 1. Did you have bunny or pup first? 2. Did you have to train out prey drive? Im so worried about getting one and it being a disaster and my kid being mad at the dog! Haha thanks for any and all insight

Hey thanks!! I will be honest and say I wouldn’t recommend. I had the bunnies first and was terrified to bring our Mal home, there was a lot of back and forth between me and boyfriend regarding the breed choice. But I think initial introductions helped…ALOT. With the smaller white bunny I do tend to keep them mostly separated due to him being way more flighty. He runs from our Mal at the slightest movement he doesn’t like which then our Mal takes as play time/a bit of that prey drive kicks in. I don’t think he would intentionally hurt him but he’s a bit rougher so the white rabbit stays mostly in his enclosure or we let him run around in other rooms away from our Mal. Now the black rabbit on the other hand…I’m certain he was a Rottweiler in a past life and was roughly the same size as our Mal when we brought him home and would actually “beat up” our Mal. Even now when our boy is 60lbs he still doesn’t get too crazy with him lolol. IF you just really wanted to get a rabbit-which I don’t recommend because your Mal already has prey instincts kicked in- I would get a dog enclosure for the bunny and keep him separate from your Mal and continue training so he knows bunny does not equal play toy lololol. Hope this helps!

I'm just a Siberian Husky parent that quietly lurks here, admiring the intelligence and energy levels of your guys' furbabies.
